My little ladies have uncommon and unusual names for here in the UK Akela pronounced (ah-kee-la) , Skylar and Kara . I also like Briony for a girl . xxx

[deleted account]

Well, from the picture, it looks like you had her... but in case you are still looking... Our girls' names are:

Kathryn Grace (Katy)

Victoria Rose (Tori) and

Ivy Elizabeth.

Tori and Ivy are probably the most unusual. I have only met one other Ivy. I love all of my girls' names.

Blessings to you!

my second child which is a boy, is named Elliott, and if it would have been a girl it still would be Elliott. i think its such a cool name for a girl. my first is named elizabeth adelaide. Elizabeth is such a strong name, they are both queens names, and adelaide is also the capital of australia i think...i also like the name Lyra

I was reading through the suggestions for uncommon or unique names for girls and love some of the suggestions that came up....but felt I had to say Adelaide is not the capital of Australia ( Canberra is and i wouldnt like that for a childs name )      My gran's name was Adeline Julia and I think it is beautiful name , although she hated it . But don't we all hate our names at one point ? She was called Addy.

I wanted to name my daughter Serenity Lynn or Lizabeth Kenzie and I ended up with Elizabeth Mackenzie.  I loved those other names. just because they are different.

I think that it is important to pick a name that can be changed a little when she is older if she so desires.  This way there is some versitility, when there is a need for a playful name vs a professional name.

1 - Gwendolyn.  With this name there are many options.  Gwen, Wendy, Dolly, or Lynn.

2 - Catherine.  Cat, Kate, Katie, Caty, Cathy, or Rine.

3 - Callista.  (my favorite)  Calli, Cally, Lista, or Lisa

my cousin was born katherine .... an she hates it ... so she now likes it spelt  KAYT............ Sounds better then  CATY ...!!!

Like you, I wanted an usual/uncommon name for my daughter. We came up with Meischarla (pronounced Me sharla...we just wanted it to have a unique spelling too) and LOVE IT! Sometimes we call her Miss for short, but I don't think is us shortening her acutal name as such, we would probably refer to as Miss even if her name was something completely different...she is just a 'Little Miss'. She has a really strong, determined yet loving and affectionate personality. Would love to know if you decide to use this name. Best wishes :)

How about Harlow, Piper, Georgette, Asa, Romy?  Griffon would work. Your other choices seemed really common to me- JMO.

Here are some names I haven't seen on the list yet, unless I just missed them.

(The first 2 we had planned to used as first & middle name - Akaysha Lianna, but then we had a boy.)

Akaysha - pronounced A-KAY-shah (can also be spelled Acacia)

Lianna - pronounced Lee-on-ah

Solayah - pronounced So-LAY-ah

Lyndi - pronounced LIN-dee

Katriel - pronounced Kah-tree-elle

I used the website: http://babynamesworld.parentsconnect.com...

to get further info on the names, just in case you would like more information.

Let us know your choice.

God Bless

I'm a genealogist and family surnames have commonly been used in naming a child.  You might consider your maiden name or your mother's or mother-in-law's maiden name? You could go further back or use an ancestor's first name.  For instance, if your maiden name was Stuart and your husband's favorite aunt's name is Mary, you might name your baby "Mary Stuart" Richardson.  You could even call her "Mary Stuart" as double names are commonly used in many areas particularly the southern US.  Just a suggestion.  Your choices so far are fine names.  Good luck!

I am pregnant with my 2nd child right now, due july 3rd and we were told we are having a boy but there was no definite because the baby was moving too much. If we have a little girl her name will be zooey belle. I also really like Stormy, Bianca, athena, and Michaela. I think the coolest most unique names are the old traditional names that no one names their baby girls anymore. Like Rosealie, Natalie, Beverly. If you want a name that you can count on no other little girl having is an old fashioned out of date name! :)

Quoting Kerri:

We all like to have unusual names for our children my little boys name is Jackson, he is six now he found it hard to spell his name and has only just mastered it this year, we liked the name Jackson because it sounds like a little boys name we like Jack too but it seemed such an old name for a baby however Jack would have been easier for him to spell (many tears over spelling his name). Don't make the name you give your daughter or son too hard for them to spell. Our eldest daughter is Tori which means little bird this is my favourite name because it is easy to spell and different. My other daughter is Ashlyn. No matter what you name your daughter remember she will have to learn to spell it write it and live with it for the rest of her life. Good luck

my daughters name is allie-jaid and she has learnt 2 spell it very easily and shes still only 4

Hi Cayla, Haven't had chance to look at all the names suggested, but here are a couple that I took a shine to! Savannah, Lucy-Jo. And if I ever have another girl, I quite fancy Ariana, my 3yr old daughter is called Cayla-Jade Marie (which is what my partner chose, after 5mins of thinking), and I chose Hermione (as her last middle name). She's known as C-J to friends and family, and Cayla-Jade in nursery (and she responds to both), thats how I wanted it, until she is old enough to decide which one she prefers. Good Luck with your baby!!!
