I am a mom of 1 and we are looking to add to our family . We can not have more children (extremely long story, but I will share if you'd like to know...). I am fairly new to the state of Missouri (originally from GA) and need some assistance on where to begin my process. We like to be linked to an agency that will not completely break us financially and that can hopefully help us expidite the process (within the next year or so - is that realistic?). Any agency suggestions and /or personal testimonies would be great. Thanks in advance for your replies

My husband and I have recently adopted our children. 2 in February 25th and our last one November 25, (national adoption day for michigan). We contacted our local department of human services. Our 2 oldest are 6 and 9 and our youngest is 2. We had our oldest in my day care and the youngest was a placement with us. They were all in Foster care. The two oldest are brother and sister and the youngest was a later placement. We were not foster parents, but that helps with babies. let me know if you need anymore advice or any questions answered I will be more than happy to answer any I can.

We adopted our son from Korea over 4 years ago. It's been absolutely wonderful!! I do not live in the Missouri area, so I cannot speak to the agencies there. Begin by calling all of the agencies in your area (yellow pages) and have them send you their info. Each agency will have different fees. There are many different fees, so be sure you have a list of all of them (ask the agency if they are including all fee info in their packet).

Tell everyone you know that you are planning to adopt, and ask if they or anyone they know have experience with any of the agencies. It's good to find out which ones are reputable.

Our adoption process was about a year. That is the norm for Korea. Other countries have different timelines. Adopting here in the U.S. has a questionable timeframe. Some families are chosen quickly by a birthmother, and others have to wait awhile to be chosen. Your agency can give you info on how to get the word out about a local adoption to increase your odds of being chosen sooner.

I'd be happy to answer any other questions you have! Good luck!!
