The women in my family always look GREAT. Before they have kids. Then they have a few and they baloon out. I have 3 kids now. My youngest is only 5 weeks old, but I'm ready to start losing the spare tire that has accumulated for the last 4 years.

I've been a runner for 10 years now and since my oldest was born, I've ran 2 1/2 marathons and one full marathon. I can never seem to get rid of the tire.I'm looking for ideas on how to lose the tire because I have slim arms, a slim chest then this huge tire. I'm really disportioned. I don't care if its excersise or pills. Cost effective ideas a plus!

Also, I can't do anything super high impact now because of a bad pelvis.

I eat pretty healthy anyways but I just started using smaller plates. I eat like 4-5 meals a day but don't eat big meals. I have everyone in the house doing it too. My kids always go back for more.

I use dailyplate.com to track all of my calories. It is SO helpful. Another great website for all kinds of exercise routines at home and food tracking is sparkpeople.com.

In order to keep track of calories I eat and calories I expend I use fitday.com. It is super easy to put in the foods you eat and there is just about every activity in there already (including carrying small children and playing with children, etc)

crunches, watch your portions that you are eating and there are tons of exercises you can do at home lifting only your baby. Remember you have to burn more calories than you consume to lose weight and there are 3500 calories in a pound of fat so about a pound a week is reasonable goal. Try keeping a calorie book if you write down all the calories you eat you will find you dont snack on things when you arnt really hungry because you dont want to write it down. If you feel like snacking chew gum instead. Try pilates or water aerobics it works great and not much stress on the body as you are in the water and weightless, but working out an hour in the pool is like 2 hours in the gym. GOOD LUCK...

One thing I forgot to mention, try the elliptical trainer for cardio. It is super low impact and super easy to get your cardio in.

I am a runner too and after having my first child 9 months ago (I gained a HUGE 60 lbs). I was ready to get the weight off right away. I was running so much after the first 6 weeks had past. The weight was coming off very, very slowly. I got extremely frustrated. I realized that all of my running was making me very hungry!! LOL. I talked with a trainer and they said that when you are running a lot (especially training for an event). It is a really bad time to try and lose a moderate to large amount of weight because of the affect on your appetite. Anyhow, I cut way back on my running and cardio and I cut my calories too (which is 80% of weight loss). And now I only have 5-6 lbs to go. I have been doing 30 minutes of cardio and some running about 4-5 days per week and I recently started doing weight training 20 minutes twice a week and WOW!! The weight training is making a HUGE difference. It is really reshaping my body and I am not getting any bulky muscle at all.  I will start marathon training when I reach my goal weight.

My advice, cut back on your running, keep your calories to a minimum.  Do some weight training a few times per week and focus on your abs. It really does make a huge difference.

Best of luck to you!

My OB/GYN told me to do the South Beach Diet, actually get the book and follow the schedule they give you. I worked wonders for me. I had gained a ton of weight from being pregnant and then meds I had to be on for Postpartum Depression.  Within in 4 mos I lost 40 lbs and 5 pants sizes. My spare tire was almost gone. Then Pilates. Now I am prego again and it is all going to the dogs, but I have a plan for after this one is born now!!
