Just wondering how long it took you to lose baby weight and get your body back to normal. What worked, and what didn't?

Breastfeeding really helped me. But I see you do that already. I took walks almost every day, which really helps with the mid-section. Also, get on your hands and knees and straighten your back. Then let let your midsection drop to make an upside-down arch, and bring it back to the straight position. That really helps tone your stomach and back muscles. I did it a lot while pregnant and after. I was underweight when I got pregnant, but was down to a healthy weight that looked good in about a month. It took about three or four months to get below my pre-pregnancy weight. :-/ Eating healthy helps, too.

BREASTFEEDING!!! I was always about 130 lbs (I am 5'10") but after my frst and second, went down to 115 lbs - too skinny, really but I love wearing skinny jeans now. I think breastfeeding allows you to eat whatever because the baby gets the fat in the milk. I breastfed both to 20 months so not for everyone, and I know everyones body is different - I am also very active - walk everyday for at least 1 hour. I now watch my fat intake and eat more fruits and vegetables than carbs and proteins. And rarely eat fried food - if I take the kids to McDs as a (rare) treat, I do not eat - I eat at home. That stuff will kill you... I also do not eat prepared foods - real food for me and my family. I do bake so my family is not totally deprived!!!

Breastfeeding is supposed to help in the weight loss process. I know that I found taking long walks pushing a stroller really helped me. I know that in my area there are even exercise groups for moms with strollers...it's an aerobic workout/hike with the stroller. One thing you have to remember is that it took you nine months to put the weight on so it can take a while to take it all off. And even if you get back to your pre-pregnancy weight things will have shifted because of your body being stretched out to accomodate the baby and labour and delivery....so you won't necessarily return to the same measurements you once had. Good luck.

Katherine, you look great in that pic. The most important thing is get enough rest, eat healthy and always in moderation. Take the baby on stroller walks, and when at home put him on your feet and do leg lifts(supporting him well, you may have to wait til he's a bit older) lay him on your chest and do abs, hoist him in your arms while laying on your back and SLOWLY raise and lower him to tone your arms. I used to put my son in a babycarrier on me and use my elliptical he liked being close to me and the motion. Drink lots of water especially if you're breastfeeding, but even if not. Few people ever get their exact pre-baby body shape back (my hip-bones are forever widened) but just be healthy and enjoy your little one. good luck.

I lost the "baby weight" right away but the extra weight has just now started coming off after diet and exercising for 7 months (my baby's 9 months)!!! Dr sd hormones take 6 to 12 months to go back to normal and this is why it is usually so hard to lose weight right after having a baby.

I was back in my jeans within a week. I only gained the weight that was needed for the baby. I worked out and stayed healthy during my pregnancy. With #2 and #3 I was actually smaller a week later than I was when I got pregnant. Too bad I don't always take good care of myself...........

I started weight watchers 2 about a month after my son was born, I have lost a total of 52 lbs so far. I am now lighter then I was before I had my first child. I want to lose another 34lbs. I really like the weight watchers program.

i have been breastfeeding the whole 4 months that my baby boy has been here. that helped me lose 30 of the 40 lbs i gained throughout the pregnancy. but...i still look like i could lose a lot more than 10. i have the love handles and the belly!!! so...i have started to go on walks every day with the stroller. but i have not had time to hit a gym or anything like that. so...i am hoping to lose more weight and lose it soon....but it is hard.

I only gained the weight of the baby and other baby gunk during pregnancy thanks to horrible morning sickness from week 3 to 42... However I was a little chunky to begin with, so in the last 4 months I've lost another 6 or so kilos. I have about 4 to go to my ideal weight. I don't try too hard, I still breastfeed, walk quite a bit... when I go to the shop I carry my bub in a sling (he's about 8 kilos, so it's hard work!) My husband and I also order in calorie and portion controlled meals. For him its to portion control and to loose weight, for me it's just so I don't have to cook! I eat plenty of other crap with it to make sure that my milk supply is not affected but I'm guessing it's also helping in a small way towards a slow weight loss.
I managed to get rid of the flap of skin, I think by walking and I don't have a rocking chair so I copy the motion to rock my bub to sleep, sort of like stomach crunches without realizing what I was doing. I thought it would take years to get rid of that thing!!

with breastfeeding it took me about 3months to be within 2kgs (about 4lbs i think) of my conception weight with both babies.

2nd baby 5months old now.....i'm going to start doing some more exercise.

but to be honest....i have no doubt i can be the same weight, but i'm not sure about the same body shape.....think thats changed forever. :) oh well .....hehehe.

It took me about 18 months but part of it was helped along by my ADHD medication which is actually kinda craptastic. I have a skin flap still but I don't think that ever really goes away.

I am still breastfeeding and I have lost most of my baby weight, I have like 4 pounds to go but my body doesn't look like I have 4 pounds left to go. I have love handles now that I didn't have before. How long did it take to get below your pre-pregnancy weight?

I breastfed which helped take off a lot of weight. My body still isn't quite the shape it was before I was pregnant but I am certainly below my prepregnancy weight.
