Low back pain sign of labor?

It could be or not. Frustrating I know. I just had my third and I experienced a lot of on again, off again cramping and back pain for awhile before I went to labor. I do know that when I started losing my mucous plug (came out gradually over a couple of weeks) and when I had a cervical exam, I'd almost always get back pain and cramps from it. If it gets stronger, longer and closer together over time then you're probably in labor.

Kayliecia, Your back pain could very well be labor pains. When I was in labor for my daughter, all my pains were in my lower back.

When my son was born, all of my labor was in my back. He was my first. I do not even remember nor do the doctors if or when my water broke. Don't worry! Baby will be here soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, that can be labor pain and you back and you may have so contraction you may have you baby early then you want to because that how my  last  baby did me I had the stay  thing happen to me and a couple of day my water bag brust a little  and I start  have contraction five minuter apart.

Low back pain sign of labor?

My doctor stripped my membranes a few days ago, and i lost my mucus plug a few days ago too, so im wondering if this could be labor? my back its like a constant low back pain, i know ive had a few contractions but like a couple in an hour, they're alittle painful, im wondering if anyone else has had this pain in they're back for labor? also i had diahrea 2 times today, I know that ive went to the hospital time and time again because i though i was in labor, but i seriously dont know, and dont want to leave the hospital yet again. so just need some advice kinda.

You are almost there! If your contractions aren't getting closer together and there isn't a steady pattern you can usually wait, unless of course you are dialated to a 4 (active labor). I had lower back pain when my labor began and then it turned into really strong lower uterine contractions (felt like menstrual cramps), couldn't talk and had to focus on breathing. Try accupressure for pain, it helps. The nurses can help give you tips. God Bless you and your little one!

Sorry my internet bombed so let me just send my message again - A posterior baby is always more painful and difficult - ideally mom should deliver on her hands and knees to take the pressure off her spine. It does sound like you are in labour, but if you are having baby in hospital and want to avoid any unnecessary medical interventions then it is best to go when your contractions are 3 - 5 mins apart. However, this is only a guideline as I don't know your personal circumstances. If you feel any pressure in your bottom - like you really need to do a big poo - don't sit on the toilet - get to the hospital as this will very likely be the baby's head. Hope this helps - I've been away from childbirth for awhile and haven't caught a baby for a few years.

No not my first labor, well he was posterior and the pushing time was 3 hours.

Is this your first baby and if not what was your first labour like - duration, pushing time, etc?
