Since you aren't pregnant go to the doctor or OB and ask them about the meds you take. If they do have more serious side affects maybe you could try one that has less to see if it works for you. I know switching meds is hard. But it is easier than stopping. But yea talk to your doctor. Also if you plan on breastfeeding let them know because different medication can also affect breast milk ( not always in a harmful way but simply amount can be affected.)

I did not take it my entire pregnancy. I started medication at 6 months pregnant. I took it to try to prevent another bout of PPD. I asked my doctor about putting me on medication before hand so it can be in my system and ready to go when the baby was born. (i'm sure you understand that it can take 3 months to take full affect)
My doctor had wanted me on it at 12 weeks. I told her i felt more comfortable waiting until after my first trimester. She said she understood but explained to me that there is little evidence to show many complications from certain medications (zolof, paxil and wellbutrine) She also said a safe and happy mommy out weighs any side affect that may arise. From what i read and understood, there is little to no side affect to taking medication past the 20 week point.
Do what you think is right but please keep in mind that you need to feel good. If you are depressed while pregnant , you might not take great care of yourself, thus not taking good care of the baby. You might not feel a bond to the child because of how you feel. Please talk to your own doctor about the situation. Do not feel bad about taking medication that you need. Good luck.
