we use the oral-b...maybe orajel...not sure. anyway, it's berry flavored. my son loves it! i brush his teeth for him, and then give him the toothbrush to let him practice on his own. we do this at least once a day, usually twice. but every time i smell his breath, it's horrible! so i'm searching now for a mint flavored toddler toothpaste. does it exist in regular stores? i don't want to have to go to a special store or pay up the rear for it either. i mean, i will do what i must...but that's my preference.

I always brushed for Amelia two times a day with the toddler toothpaste and let her go at it after lunch. She's now moved on to the regular kids kind. I second the recommendation to start flossing. I got Amelia started with that as soon as she had teeth to get her used to it.

Try flossing his teeth. This is usually why my son has bad breath! You wouldn't think a toddler would need it but it makes a big difference. I have never seen a totally mint toddler toothpaste, either. There are a couple of brands that have "bubblemint" or some such mixture. My kids didn't care for any of the kiddie flavors so I have used adult toothpaste on them since the beginning. I'm wary of ingesting fluoride so I used Tom's of Maine toothpaste without fluoride on my kids until they were old enough to brush and really spit on their own. (toddlers usually swallow half of it) If you have fluoride in your water and he goes to the dentist, they give treatments. That should be sufficient for his teeth if you are brushing and flossing.

Aquafresh has one for kids, but just so you know it may be hard to get them use to it, as my daughter says it "burns' as she is not use to the mint.

I have never seen mint flavored toothpaste for children. It's fruity flavors or bubblegum and that includes the toothpaste with flouride. My son sometimes has stinky breath too and we brush his teeth twice a day. I have his first dental appt. scheduled and am going to ask the dentist what he suggests.
