Thank you all ladies! I have been having some SENSITIVITY issues with my female parts and
I wondered if anyone had experienced this as well on the Mirena! Its been in for a little over a year, I love it as well! Thanks again!!

This is my 3rd one and I have had absolutely no problems with any of them. Unfortunately I am not one of the lucky ones whose periods stopped, mine continued but im ok with that, as they are much much lighter and I have no period pains, no hormonal outbursts the week before.
I am not planning on any more children and my husband is thinking about a vasectormy but I will continue to use the mirena even if he does as it has helped my pmt no end.

Spotting the first three months but heavy bleeding at your period time and now 9 months later no period but still have the bloating and moodiness. I do think it makes your mood more extreme though. It can move they say it can't but I have been told it does move by my husband. over all you make it though the few few months it is smooth sailing.

I have had mine for about 2 1/2 years since my second child was born. I haven't really had any issues with it. I do have light spotting and is not always predictable when it starts. I have also gained weight but not sure if it is from this or what.(gained about 30lbs with no change in diet and it won't come off!) To be totally honest, my main goal was to have no more periods and has served its purpose. I would definately recommend it!

I've had mine for a year now too, and no problems. I get light spotting every few weeks, but no "real" periods. I'm not sure if it's due to the Mirena, or because I am still nursing. My sister had hers for 5 years and she said her period was also very light after the initial few weeks of bleeding after the insertion. I had tried many pills, and I was awful with the schedule, not to mention the weight gain, acne, mood swings, etc! I had used the patch also, but it irritated my skin, so I switched to NuvaRing. That worked well in between my first and second pregnancy, and I got pregnant right after taking it out. I went back to using it 2 more years after my second child was born, and got pregnant with my 3rd while using the ring! I'm hoping the Mirena works, and so does my hubby since I told him if I get pregnant again, I've done all I could/would do and it will be up to him next!

The doctors do tell you that you are supposed to go in and check to make sure that you feel it regularly. Though it is something that you don't want to think about, it is something that does take some maintenance.

I bled for the first 6 months and my skin got very irritated. I had to regulate my period by using the nuva ring also for 4 months, once i did that everything is fine now. only light spotting for my period. either way, better than any pill!

Quoting Katie:
Mirena 5yr contraceptive ISSUES
What kind of issues have you ladies had on the?
Mine has been in for 2yrs now and I have had no issues at all. My periods have all but stopped which is great and no pregnancies!
A friend has had hers in for 4 yrs and lost a bit of weight, she thinks that it needs to be replaced as she thinks she can feel it now?
I think it's a great contraception, I really do.

My friend just had to have major surgery about two weeks ago from her Mirena. She was having abdomal pain and her doctor went to check her Mirena and it was no longer intacked and had travled and lodged in her intestines where they had to cut her stomach open and take some intestines out because it was so far wrapped inside. Pretty scary. My cousin decided to have hers taken out after she heard that because according to the box and labels. It states that this problem can happen.

I have this in now, and this is my second time having it. I had it three years ago after my son was born. The only issue I had with it at that time, is when the Doctor put it in she left the string a little too long so that it was poking me in the lip area. I went back and she trimmed it up, and once it softened from time, there was no problems what so ever, and I hardly got more than a spotting for a period. When we were ready to have another baby, I had it removed on the 17th, I started my period on the 20th, and was pregnant that first cycle. I have it again now, I got it about 4 months ago. I did have my period for about 5 weeks, went back for the check up, and they said it was the change in my hormones, with the mirena and post pregnancy. Now I am just having light regular periods. But have had no real issues.
I have tried many birth control methods, to include multiple pills and the deprovera..With those I had issues, such as pains, and a lot of weight gain. None of that with the Mirena, and am actually able to loose weight. Over all I am very happy with it.
