Does anybody know any alternative treatments that work for molluscum? My 2.5 year old daughter has had it for almost a year, and it has started to spread from her trunk to her arms, legs, and even one on her vagina. We have seen 3 different doctors, and 2 agree on the wait it out theory, and one prescribed Aldera which was a nightmare and left her healthy skin around the lesions a red and swollen. Her skin is dry and irritated in the area where the rash occurs, causing her to scratch, and then she touches other parts of her body spreading it even further.
We have started using tea tree oil, and 'popping' the ones that look ready to open, doing our best to contain the cores and wipe with antiseptic after to try to control the spread. However with a 2 year old who writhes and squirmes when we even come near her rash, I am wondering if we are doing more harm than good.
Any other parents out there who have dealt with this harmless but nasty virus, I would love to hear your thoughts and ideas on how to get a handle on this.
Thanks!
