Good day all! I am looking for a used vehicle (preferably domestic) that I can use 2 car seats in the back and be able to put a double stroller in the trunk with out a struggle. Not really interested in a minivan at this time. I have a 20 month old and a second on the way.

So I was curious as to what non-minivan/suv vehicles are moms with 2 children are driving.

You are not going to be able to get a car where you can fit a double stroller in the trunk very easily. Smaller suv's are just like a car only higher off the ground, If you are not interested in mini vans than you may have to look at larger suv's. I was against mini vans too for a while but then realized that is what i would have to get since I didn't want a large suv. The nice thing about the van is that the doors slide open w/the push of a button on your key so the the older kid can climb right in while your arms are full. I never thought I would be a mini van driver but I love it and would not drive anything else. Also, insurance on mini vans is cheaper than suv's because they are safer. I didn't know that until after I got my van.

One or both our vehicles were a van for 13 years and unless you are getting an SUV I just don't see avoiding it.

We now drive a Ford Focus and love it, but at least once a month we feel bad that we don't have room for the girls friends.

Oh, another thing you might want to consider when looking at cars is how long you plan on having the new car and if you think you will be able to drive your kids friends in it or carpool when they are school age. IF you are planning on having the car for a number of years that is a good thing to consider....That was one of the things I was concerned about. If you are planning on only having it for year or two then up grade to something bigger then don't worry about that. Just a thought.

I have a Nissan Sentra car. I currently have a double strollerj, a single stroller and two baby gates in the trunk. It's got great trunk space and fits two kids in the back comfortably and three front facing carseats with much effort. The only thing you have to think of with that is only a small adult can fit in the back so once the two car seats are in there thats about it. I love it though. Great gas mileage and the front passenger air bag turns off depending on the weight of the person in the front seat. So when I babysit the three babies can sit in the back and I can put my 4 year old up front in his booster seat without having to worry about the air bag. It has great safety ratings.

We have a 08 Dodge Charger. Just the base model because we didn't want anything too fancy but wanted something with some sport too it because we are a young couple. The trunks are huge!
We did a road trip to B.C (from Alberta) to see family and we had my husband, his brother, Tanner, Nova(our at the time 4 mth old pup) and myself in the car PLUS all our luggage and the stroller and a playpen in the trunk. It was slightly cramped but we made it.
The back seat is fairly large and would definetly have room for 2 carseats. We stuff Nova(who is now 16 months and 70 lbs) Duke(19 months and 90 lbs) and our son's carseat in the back no problem.

A pontiac grand am (4 door) has a huge trunk. You should be able to fit 2 car seats as I could fit 3....

You could get a cross-over vehicle. Like an Edge, Flex etc... there are many of them. They are LIKE a van but not. That would be your best bet if you'r trying to fit a double stroller. The flex has tons of room.

We used to drive and Echo and now a Toyota Yaris (4-door). Both have pretty big trunks. I used the Caboose Sit-n-Stand stroller for my girls (about 2 years apart). I find double strollers to be way too cumbersome.

I know the Toyota Matrix has TONNES of room in the back.

My sitter has a pontiac grand prix or similar model pontiac. Decent size sedan and my double stroller does not fit in her trunk. On the other hand I have a '08 Honda Pilot(made in the USA) which is great and if I had to I could fit 5 carseats in it with out the strollerand not much room for anything else, or 3 seats with the stroller in the back and still have room to shop at a wholesale club. Whatever you chose good luck with your new vehicle. : )

I avoided the double stroller, but I would have had plenty of room in my car which is a Ford Focus wagon. My husband has a Ford Escape Hybrid SUV. Those cars work for us.

I drive a ford fusion which I like bit my single stroller practically fills the back, and let me tell you grocery shopping while the stroller is in the car-forget about stocking up on paper towels, diapers and toilet paper lol. I refuse to drive a mini-van so if we end up getting one, which we should so when we go on long trips with the dog and 2 carseats it's going to be my husbands car!

I have to agree there isnt any cars out there that will fit a double stroller. I also was anti mini van, I fought buying a mini van for 10 years, but along came the 3rd kid. I told my hubby if he was going to get us a mini van it had to be fully loaded and used. After some research, we bought a 2005 Caravan with stow and go. I have to say I am reformed, I will never go back to a smaller car until the children are moved out. I love my auto doors, and trunk. All my brats can get in to the car while I am loading the trunk. Love my heated leather seats, love the DVD for long rides. My caravan kicks any SUV's butt any day LOL!

I wish I could offer a suggestion, but alas.....I'm rockin' a minivan (Ford Freestar - great van IF you decide to go that way)

But anyway.....I figured i'd comment to bump your thread back to the top of the list so some of the other ladies could reply.

Good Luck!
