I wanted something to represent my daughter like a handprint or a footprint. but I just don't want a print and a name. I want something more awesome than that.

I was wondering if any of the other moms with tattoos had something to represent their kids, what they got, and so on.

Details, Ladies, details!!

I have alot of tatoos, but do not have one of my child yet. But my friend has hand print and foot print with flowera added in on her back and it l;ooks good. I love the hand or footprint idea.

I am getting (eventually!) a stargazer lily on my shoulder with her birthdate since her middle name is Lily. I think whatever you choose will be special since it will represent your child! The footprints are super cute- maybe one on each of your feet?

well my husband is a tattoo artist and I have many tattoos what I am doing is pick a fancy script (writting) that you love then what do you call you daughter? (minchkin, sweet pea, ect.) and write My then that underneath her name then think of your favorite thing (roses, crosses, animals, ect.) and have it put inside of that I promise it will look totally awsome in every way possible but make sure you have them draw it out then look at it and see if there are any changes you want to make to it because this is your tattoo and it needs to be perfect in your eyes.

I don't have tattoos but my son's grandma does she has a vine with flowers each representing a grandchild in their birthstone color and that way she can always add more if more grandchildren come along they are a hawaiian flower she likes and it runs along the top of her foot I thought it was very nice but not just out their like a footprint or name etc. The other tattoo she has and this was without forthought of future grandchildren was the first two initials looping each other on the inside of her wrist but she only has two grandchildren done that way but it does make a nice bracelett tattoo

I have a couple tattoos and I have one that is a portrait of my daughter. Its from an awesome black and white photo we had done when she was about a year old. The tattoo is amazing grey work, covers my whole rib cage. I just had a son and will get one of him as well, but in the meantime, I have an appt for a a new pin-up (I have several already) Friday that is a 40's looking pin-up cartoon mom holding 2 babies, 1 in blue, 1 in pink with like the typical blue and white apron. Its pretty cool, its on my wrist. Just make sure its something you don't mind looking at for the rest of your life. The tattoos I got when I was 18, don't mean as much and I could care less about, but the ones that I got that signify a special time in my life are timeless and I will love them forever.

My tattoo has three parts, and only 2 are done. The first part I got when I was single. I got a pretty little butterfly on my right lower stomach/hip area. It's purple and blue and I got the wing design from my favorite Amy Brown fairy. This butterfly represents me and my own strength.

Then, when my hubby and I got engaged I added a butterfly on my other side that is red, orange and yellow. It's wings are also from Amy Brown and they are a bit tattered and worn, but still big and strong (like my hubby - he's had a pretty rough life, but is still strong and dependable despite all of it). When I got the second butterfly, I also got some twisting vines and leaves that connected the two, so the whole tattoo covers my entire lower stomach area and it's really pretty.

Now that we are done having kids, I want to add three more little butterflies (for our three girls) among the vines and leaves that connect us. For our oldest I'm getting pink and red with very girly swirly wings, for my middle one I'm getting purple and green (neon green) with fun flippy wings, and for my youngest I'm getting yellow and teal with strong almost heart shaped wings (we almost aborted her because there was no heartbeat for over a month, but then one day there it was and she is such a happy and healthy baby - our little miracle!). Each butterfly has the girl's favorite color and wings that reflect their personalities. I am waiting until I lose a bit of weight before I get it (and I need to save up some money!), but I'll get it someday! The designs are all in a folder in my filing cabinet just waiting to be pulled out and put on! :)

My sister has a tiger outline on her stomach, she designed it herself and basically where the black stripes are on the tiger are tattooed on and the orange part of the tiger is blank, ie: skin. She is now designing a tiger cub to have added beside it to represent her new son.

[deleted account]

I have a vine with a flower on it for each of my girls. The vine in on my ankle then goes over the top of my foot. Next to the flowers, on the vine is their names in cursive. We are expecting another girl in June. I will have her name and a flower added for her at also. I think it is awesome to have a tattoo representing your child. My girls (ages 3 and 4) like to look at the tat and point out their names. They will say "thats my flower and thats my name." Its small, simple, and can be covered up easily.

The other thing that I am doing for all my kids. I am doing portraits of all three of them at the age of 2 with flowers and vines all around them. There is many things you could do. I got a tatoo with three heats embracing themselves on my foot. I choose puple for the swirls and red for the hearts and the hearts are different sizes, I choose black for their intials. I thought this way people, who don't know my kids will not know their names because i didn't want their names posted, and those who knew them would know. Then I had a chinese symbol that says forever in my heart.

I Have an ankle braclet~~~ I have two roses to represent both my girls-----I never had their names put on, Anyone who really knows me knows what that tattoo reprsents! I also have a couple other tattoos that represent other milestones in my life and they are all tasteful and are in places that if I want them covered then you would never know that I have been inked! This is a very important thing to remember at times----as we live in a very closed minded and judgemental society~~~~people at times look at you like you are less because you bare ink w/o knowing that there are usually some heart felt stories to go along with them! Also if you live in the same area that I do I know of an awesome artist! Look her up~~~~Her name is Darlin and she works at American Graffitti in Brighton Mi. Darlin has done two of mine and anymore that I may have done in the future! I hope that this has helped you and just remember that a tattoo is a walking piece of art! Good Luck on your journey!

Myself and my sons dad have the same tattoo of his handprint with his name underneath it. I've got mine at the top of my back and my partner has his on his wrist. The tattooist did some of the design in a yellowy/gold shade to represent our sons birth month(november). If i had another child i would probably have their footprints walking up my leg or spine that would be cool. I hope you find something you love :) xx

Why do you have to mark up your body to represent how important your children are. Remember.....actions will always speak louder than words or anything written. Time equals love in a childs eyes. I am an RN working at a major hospital and have worked for over 33 years. I have done a lot of research on tattoos and the inks in your skin affect your immune system and keep it constantly fighting against the foreign body. Unless you live in California and get your tattoo at a state regulated place did you know that the inks are mixed with carriers like anti freeze, formaldehyde, and other carcinogens. They have also found lead in some of the inks. When my patients come into the ER, 99% of them never researched tattoos or made an intelligent decision before getting them. The last thing that bothers me is that many of these people have no insurance for themselves much less their dependent children. Many of the people that come to my ER with tattoos also smoke and drink and some do other ilicit activities like pot smoking and if they would save all that money they could afford insurance!

On a last note, I have observed patients with tattoos for years and they are always the sickest of the sick. So, if I were you I would do a lot of research because many times the price you pay will be later in life for the fads you enbark on now.

Sincerely,

rather than my daughters zodiac sign, Im getting her mayan sign. Her sign is so fitting of her personality and has s spiritual meaning for me as well. I would like to figure out a way to include my husband and my signs in there as well, but Im not really sure how Im going to organize it yet. i would like to be able to add to it if we have another kid and not have it look like it was added later...if that makes sense.

On my forearm I have 2 flowers a mountain avens and a cherry blossom. They are not very cartoonish and have very little color to them. The mountain avens is an irish flower and this represents my husband and the cherry blossom represents me, in script off to the side, but located between the flowers is my daughters name. So, in a sense the flowers also represent her as a part of each of us. I get a lot of complements on this tattoo...it really is quite pretty :)

y don't you get ur daughter to make a paintin of her hand you kno stick her hand in paint and then squish it down on a peice of paper. then get a copy of it made so that the tattoo artist can make a thermo copy of it or redraw it whichever urs does...u can add her initials and the day she made them into to hands.

[deleted account]

I didn't read through all of these so I apologize if I repeat this...I'm not the biggest Angelina Jolie fan but I love the tattoo's she has for her children. It is the latitude and longitude of each of their birth places. Pretty cool since they are adopted it represents where they come from.

I don't have one yet...I'm kind of scared, but I have put some thought into it if I ever do. My grandpa means the world to me and has been like my guardian angel (even though he's still here) and we have Native American background, so I thought about getting an eagle to represent my grandpa watching over and protecting us, holding eagle feathers in it's talons to represent each child that I will have as I know he would be their guardian angel as well.
