My son is almost 10 mo, and has just started to reject being fed. He is still nursing 4-5 times a day, but he has just decided that being fed is no fun. I have made all this food for him that is pureed and he will not eat any of it..all he wants is what is on my plate. And he wants to feed himself. All this is great and I am encouraging the self-feeding, but how do I get him to eat the foods I have sitting in the freezer??? Any other moms been through this? Any suggestions?

Wait until he starts yelling "I do it mommy". We never really did get in to the baby foods I just started feeding him off of my plate when he showed interest. This is a good thing. Have fun!

I would say go with the self-feeding thing. I never made my own food and my daughter rejected spoon feeding at 8mo. We simply stopped buying it. I've heard of people mixing purees into foods to get there children to eat vegetables. Maybe you can do something similar to use up your feezer food. Put it into pasta sauce, yogurts, cereals, smoothies, onto crackers, in sandwiches, use as a dip, bake into breads and casserols. Just add stuff to it as your son gets more used to flavors and get creative. Then give it to him in a way he can feed himself. Hope this helps!

Let him have your food. Pureed food isn't necessary - plus I'll bet your pureed doesn't include all the spices and yummy flavors of your own food. From six months on, baby can have what the rest of the family is eating. Just ensure there's no obvious choking hazards (tough steak!) and have fun. Let baby explore textures and colors and tastes at his own pace. He'll self-feed what he can handle and your life will be 100000% times easier.



I've never fed a jar or pureed food to any of my kids. They all self-feed table foods at six months, and it's normal and easy!

You could make the pureed and feed him it while hes feeding himself some finger food. My daughter also wont allow anyone but grandma to feed her by spoon. I threw out all the pureed food and considered that stage over with!
