I took out the box spring like Elfrieda said and just put the mattress on the floor. My daughter can climb out but she's 2.5 almost. I kept her there for a loooong time. She just switched to a big girl bed.
Poor baby, hope she's ok! She is definitely not ready to go into a toddler bed yet. So take out the box spring and that will help.

My son did the same thing when he was only about 9 months old, but he was (is) very tall. We took the crib apart the same day and he slept on his matress on the floor with a portable bed rail until he could climb safely in and out of a toddler bed.

You can buy mesh crib tents that will keep them from climbing out. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Tots-Mind-Cozy...

Oh boy, too bad. :( That must be a really small crib or a really tall girl. I think once they start crawling out, you've got to move them to a bed. You could just put the crib mattress on the floor for now. My 18 month old still hasn't managed to crawl out, and I hope he doesn't for a long time yet.
