Apparently camimile tea works. steep a stong cup and pour it in the bath. You could also try the tea bag on the bottom after it has been steeped.

i don't know if someone has already told you this but....burnt flour helps, just put flour in a pot and put it on the stove, keep stirring it until its brown than put it on your baby's bum, just the flour nothing else!!!

try mixing your normal diaper cream with Mylanta.  Sounds weird, but it works wonders!!!

This is going to sound really wierd, but my pediatrition had me try this on my 8 month old's rash when nothing else was working and it really helped. Mix clear benadryl with liquid mallox (any flavor) and apply it to the rash and let it dry, you can do it up to 4 timesa day. good luck!!!

My Step-Gramma gave me a tin of bag-balm (for cow udders) it worked like a charm.

I'm not sure what kind of diapers you use but I would try cloth if you dont already use them. My 17 month old sometimes gets a really bad diaper rash that just wont go away, so the last time he got a rash I switched to cloth with the advice of a friend of mine. I feel they help alot because they're actually breathable and gentle on their bottom :) If cloth isnt an option for you try cornstarch.Hope this helps a bit! Good Luck!

Do not use wipes....use a warm wash cloth.  Make sure it is completely dry and spray with lotrimin fungal cream.  Then load on Triple Paste (found at Target and Babies R Us).  Do this for a day or so and it will be gone...guaranteed!

My friend's doctor told her to mix 1 tube of plain diaper rash cream, 1 tube of plain Neosporin and 1 tube of regular Athletes foot cream together in a tightly sealable rubbermaid container. Then keep in the fridge and apply as necessary. I use it and love it! 1 day of consistent application usually heals him up well.

You might want to ask your doctor if it may be a yeast infection. My son used to get a diaper rash that would last for a week or more and nothing seemed to make it better. I took him to the doctor and they told me it was yeast infection, actually more common in boys than girls. He told me to put Lotrimin on it (although now there is a prescription for it) and that did the trick.

Triple paste is a miracle cream - we got it from our dr, but they sell it behind the counter at the pharmacy - my son's bottom looked like a skinned knee - within 2 days it was healed completely - unbelievable!!

I realize that you already have an answer, but just in case anyone else is wondering... My grandma swore by this... Browned Flour!! Yes, flour, as in baking flour!! You put the flour in the bottom of a pan and with your burner on low, stir it until it is all brown, but not burnt. I put it in a shaker bottle to help apply. It really does work!!!

Use just warm water, not wipes to clean the area while it is irritated and then use an oinment called Triple Paste. Here is the website for it http://www.triplepaste.com/gclid__CLq7xv...

This stuff really works. I have used it for years. Good luck. I hope it is better soon.

Are you positive it is diaper rash? If it is splotchy - it may be a yeast infection (either from the moisture, or an antibiotic). But for diaper rash, get unscented diapers, and sensitive wipes(I recommend 7th generation @ babiesrus) and try a different diaper rash ointment. I use burts bees for my son, and he has never had a serious diaper rash.

I was told to put 2 - 4 table spoons of baking soda in my son's bath water.  I let him soak, play, and wash up.  Finally, I rinse him off in fresh water once his bath time is over.

Diaperless bedtimes usually finishes the deal... it allows the rash to heal.

This is the first method that I turn to whenever my son had a diaper rash, and it works like magic.

The cheapest, quickest, easiest way is cornstarch.  Works every time.  Just change diaper as usual then rub on corn starch instead of powder.  Used it on all 4 of my kids.

I have always used Crisco on my kids when they were small. I got the advice from my mother...it was the only thing they used when we were kids. I would really gob it on at night and it usually cleared up overnight.

Hi, I hope your baby is fine by now:) For a severe rash, combination of Lotrimin and 1% hydrocortisone works in just one application.

I am not sure where you live but Bactroban oitment is wonderful and also try a vaginal cream to sooth the area. I use a natural product called Bee Wise which is bee wax and castor oil. It is pure and you can even use it on their gums, cuts, burns, cradel cap, anything really

Thanks Dalane!  You were a big help because I'm not one of those moms who runs to the doctor at each little thing, so your description of the yeast infection helped me to realize that's probably what it was and the only thing to do was take her to the doctor.  My mind is much at ease now and I think she's starting to feel better already!  Thanks again...  Kelly

if you've tried all of the creams... it's probably a yeast infection. I made the mistake once & went to the Dr...  turns out it was a yeast infection.

HI Kelly

So glad you've found the root of the issue.  She should start feeling better quite soon.  Good luck :)

get a cast iron skillet and put some flour in it. cook the flour until it turns brownish. cool and then apply like baby powder. works great and easy to remove so you won't be irritating his already irritated and sore skin.

If it is a yeast rash you can clear it up with Lotrimin cream, an over the counter anti-fungal used to cure athletes foot.  A yeast rash usually starts out a red spots or bumps and then the skin breaks down and bleeds.

When my son had a severe case not only did I do the blow drying thing (I learned to do this with every diaper change) but my pediatrician recommended coating his butt with Maalox and letting it dry for a bit before putting a diaper on.

egg whites.

I was given this suggestion by a doctor I work with at the childrens hospital, they create a barrier on the skin, full of protein and work so fast. Ive used them on both my kids & my sister has used it too with outstanding results.

worth a try

Be careful!!  My two year old's diaper rash led to a staph infection.  I would go see the doctor if you're worried.

Take her to the doctor my daughter had a real bad one at that age and it turned out to be allergies to food and soaps. Everything over the counter didn't help just made things worse or the same.

I heard of using a vaginal yeast ointment on the rash itself. You may want to give that a try. I have used cornstarch and keeping the area as dry as possible.

Best stuff ever is Resinol.  It's over the counter and sometimes you can even find it in the first aid section but it works terrific.  My 18 month old was getting diaper rash so bad and so often her skin would crack and she would bleed.  This stuff clears it quick and protects her skin too.  I highly recommend it.

Your pharmacist may have to special order it...but it's worth it.

I have a 15 month who breaks out in a rash whenever she has teeth coming in. When I giver her a bath I use Aveno's oatmeal baby wash. I apply it as the bath is filling so it gives time to soothe her buns. And then I put baking soda in the water and have her jsut soak in there. This seems to work really great. She has had some bad rashes where her skin actually blistered. Good luck!

Mylanta and fan it dry it is suppose to take the acid out of the diaper rash. Give it a try.

My daughter used to get it so bad she literally blistered-- I would give her a bath in oatmeal-- straight out of the quaker oats box-- so there was no artificial additives or smells and I would pretty much make it into a paste and have her sit in it-- after she was out of the tub I would pat her dry and I then would put a barrier cream like Aquaphor (there are many but this was the best i found for her) on her constantly and covered the entire area with baking soda-- It worked wonderfully for us and she was MUCH happier-- I hope it helps for you too.

The original Desitin is by far the most protective and heals diaper rash the quickest. Also maybe try cornstarch after bathing to keep it dry! Good Luck!
