You should ask the doctor. My sister didn't ask the doctor and give her son soy milk. He has lots problems.

Lactaid milk is worth the try. My daughter had problems w/ formula as an infant/ toddler. I gave her lactaid from 11 mths until and had no problems. Her pediatrician gave me a referral and the W.I.C. program gave me vouchers. I even give to my now 2 year old.

Have you tried Soy milk?? If you don't want to do that, try Organic or Almond milk or Goats milk. If he is able to stand yogart, eggs, cheese, and OJ with calcium, then he is getting the calcium and vitamins that he needs from them. Milk is not a necessity, not if he is allergic. Try the other milks if you want him to drink milk.

I agree- no cow's milk is OK! My kids have been drinking rice milk and almond milk for almost four years now- wish I would have never even tried cows milk- but when we were on it we were ORGANIC- have you tried that?

try using a milk called lacataid.....it tastes really similar to milk, but with no lacatose!!! It is a little pricer than milk, but is about the same as soy milk. It is easy on the taste buds than soy. You can also get the lacataid in whole, 2 %, and fat free. Hope this helps you out because no one wants a little one sick.

I would suggest goats milk, as it is the healthiest after mother's milk and formula. Soy milk has higher estrogen, so may not be the best for boys. Also, you can try alternating with almond milk, my son likes it.

He doesn't need cow's milk. He could be allergic. You could try goat's milk, or almond milk, or just don't do milk. If he's eating cheese, calcium-fortified orange juice, eggs, etc. he will be fine. Milk is only for fat, calories, protein and calcium but certainly it isn't "magic." Your son can get those things from other sources. My DD, 16 mo. has never had cow's milk and she is perfectly fine (she does still breastfeed but not a ton). Milk is NOT a necessity, especially if it makes a baby sick.
