My 19 month old has diarrhea...

[deleted account] ( 4 moms have responded )

My 19 month old has the stomach flu since yesterday morning. She has stopped vommitting but now has the diarrhea and REFUSES to drink pedialyte and water. Is there anything I can give her to drink so she won't dehydrate?

I know it sounds funny but give her about 2oz of coke any kind you can shake it up to get rid of the bubbles if that will upset her belly but its amazing how well it works. You can buy straight coke syrup from Walgreens or another pharmacy but it is the safest thing to give a child as you can't give them pepto or anything and it works amazingly quick, this will stop the diarrhea...but yest you need to give them pedilight or some type of electrolyte to prevent dehydration.

Hi hope all is well you can also give the child gatorade or ginger ale, that helped my daughter when she had the stomach flu. or if u have the clear pedialyte u can add something to it just as long as u give her the liquids, even popsicles help.. good luck I've been there its bad!

pedialyte also makes popsicles...i would try those, they are like the icee pops and they will keep her hydrated, plus they have other nutrients in them!
