My daughters have eczema, and I swear by Aquaphor. It works better than all of the the expensive prescription creams the dermatologist gave us, with none of the side effects!

My son had eczema as an ifant and toddler. After trying several over the counter and precription lotions, I was advised by a nurse rub him down with Crisco a couple of ttimes a day. We did that-called it 'greasin the baby', especially after a bath. It worked, he went two years without a breakout. Got it again with the cold this winter, used the same treatment and it was completely gone in two weeks.

Both of my boys have eczema and it always gets really bad in the winter. I talked to their pediatrician just last week about it because the eucerin wasn't working. She said that she had just done some research and that right now the best thing to do for it is to actually use vaseline jelly. She said it not only moisturizes, but the oils help to hold the moisture in longer so it heals faster. You can do it for a few days and then when it clears you can go back to a regular moisturizer or you can keep doing it. The biggest thing to remember is NOT to use regular lotions because they actually contain quite of bit of alcohol and they will burn the rash area when you put them on your child (just like baby wipes burn a diaper rash region so it's better to use just a wet cloth) and they also won't help the healing because the alcohol will make the area drier.

I would get the weakest otc cortisone cream and rub it on lightly for about a week.  That will clear it up (2X a day) if it  is patchy.  I would then get some cetaphil cream lotion and use that after the bath, keeping the water luke warm, even bathing every other day.  Good luck!

I agree to the Eucerin Cream but the key is to keep your 2 year old moisturized as much as possible. My son has severe eczema and I apply Eucerin Cream to his skin in the morning and night in the winter. Lotions don't do anything for him in the winter. I also only bathe him every other night. Good luck!

My sons gets so bad at times it will crack andf bleed. I have even used it on my face in the winter. It lokks alot like vaseline

I use Gold Bond Ultra Healing Lotion. I use it every night before bed and it has helped my daughter out a lot. She has had dry patchy skin since she was a baby and I could never find anything that worked. When I tried this her skin was better in a few days. I call it the miracle lotion. Also my ped doctor told me to only give them a bath every other night in the winter. Hope this helps.

yup sounds like eczema to me too... thre is a lotion at CVS .. CeraVe http://www.cerave.com/ I have really really sensetive skin I have to use Dreft Baby Laundry soap for my clothes and towels... the dermotologist told me to use CeraVe cream and cleanser.. there is nothing in it to 'sting' or irratate teh skin.. and believe me I have spent thousands of dollars on lotions and creams and soaps... and this is the only thing I have found that actually heals because it doesn't irratate.. It is expensive .. about 6 dollars a bottle but its sooooo worth it!!! it lasts a long time !!! Try that!! its best on eczema... the biggest thing for me was that everything else I would put on would sting and welp and make it worse .. this sooths!!!

My daughter gets this every winter on both sets of cheeks...face and bottom. I use Aquaphor at night and before she goes outside into the cold on her face. It protects the skin, and is very mild. Other lotions and creams hurt and burn. You can find it in the baby aisle or with other lotions, usually next to the Eucerin line. Hope this helps!

Sounds like winter excema, which is so annoying.  Both my boys had it, but my youngest had it the worst as it covered his whole body.  I have found a great online store that has all green products (for less than you pay at walmart) and by switching over my soaps, detergants and using their lotion when needed my boys skin is beautiful.  You can go to www.lzaikis.parentsunited.com if you have any questions feel free to contact me.

I use Hemp Body Butter from Body Works. I am not sure if you can get it in the store or if you have to order it. I use it on my daughter 3 times a day and it has cleared it up nicely.

I can get you the details on how to get something that has been proven in tests to work much better than Eucerin and it is less expensive too.  Plus if it does not work for any reason, you'll have 60 days to get a full refund.  Jane Patterson, MomCEO in North Carolina, www.BuildWithYou.WiseHomeBiz.com  :)

My son Derek, when he was about 2 also developed these rashes.  The only that work, cleared it up and never came back was Arbonne's diaper rash cream.  I do not sell it, nor do I have any other products from the company.  I was given it to try and it worked!!!  Good luck.

A wonderful lotion you mix up yourself....

8 oz Vaseline
8 oz Vitamin E cream (I find this in Dollar General. You want the CREAM. I've also found it in Walmart)
16 oz your favorite lotion... baby lotion works really well.

Mix this all well with a whisk or a metal beaters in a metal or glass bowl. Let it beat for just a short minute, and it is like whipped cream! Do not use plastic, because it will absorb the 'flavor' of your lotion and you won't be able to use it for food again. Package it up in jars or bottles, and use it liberally. Makes great gifts for Christmas, too!

I find this to be a VERY forgiving recipe... If you don't get the proportions just right, it's still fine. LOVE to use the lavender scent baby lotion, and one time I used a bunch of different partial bottles of citrus-y lotions, including one that had a shimmer to it. Yummmmm! Almost out of that. It's a GREAT way to take a great (expensive) lotion and extend it. The Vaseline (petroleum jelly) does not leave you feeling greasy (might take a few minutes to soak in, but it's lovely), and the Vitamin E cream is healing.

Here's the TMI clause.... make it late at night, with all the curtains drawn, that way you can scoop up every little splatter and drip, then rub it in wherever you can reach, and you will be baby-bottom soft all over in the morning!

Has your 2 year old been diagnosed with eczema? Try non scented lotions & washes. My son has had eczema since he was about 9 months old and I can't use hardly anything scented on him. I have to use ALL for laundry soap and can only use Pampers or Huggies products

My son gets this every year! Try using Cocoa Butter as a topical lotion and then try also mixing a liquid flax seed oil or some kind of Omega 3 into his diet. (I mix it into his salad dressing) I have done this over the past 3 years, and it has definitely helped.

my son has eczema too and the dermatologist said to get Vanicream, but that seems to sting. all the "recommended" stuff has alcohol in it, which i just cannot fathom to be good for your skin. for daily use, I get this stuff:

https://www.ourlemongrassspa.com/forms/frm_shop_item_info.aspx?prod=B5521

and for the major help, I use the big guns:

https://www.ourlemongrassspa.com/forms/frm_shop_item_info.aspx?prod=B5421

My son also has a prescription ointment we use if neither of those work, so you may need to see a pediatric dermatologist. GOOD LUCK!

I am a nurse and a mom of two. I have two questions for you. Is the rash localized? Meaning, is it in one specific area? Or, is throughout the body? That would imply it's systemic which means the body's immune system is responding to something like an allergy/irritant. Excema is considered an autoimmune response. If it's the first, than use Aquafor oint. Reapply every few hours to affected area. If it's the latter, than the baby needs to be seen by the doc. Hope this helps!

Go to the doctor. Make sure it is not bacterial or other. My daughter has exima (I totally don't know how to spell it!) and the doctore told me to put hydrocortizone on her skin for 10 days until the rash subsided and then keep her skin moisturized. You have to be careful using to much hydrocortizone with babies, so this is 1 reason you need to see your doctor. You need to make sure it is just a dry-skin related condition before you put anything on your baby's skin! It could even be an allergy. For keeping my girls moisturized, I use aquafer. it is the consistency of vaseline. I don't like how eucerin feels. Also be careful of the products you are using, i.e. Johnson & Johnson baby products can have a lot of perfumes in them. I love them too, but like Kamilah said, Burts Bees is good. It is all natural and great for a baby's sensitive skin.

My daughter had the dry patches in the winter as well. Took her to the docs and he said not to give her a bath every day, but only about 3 times a week. and to use Aquaphor. It's over the counter and worked wonders for her skin. She did eventually outgrow it by about the age of 6. Good Luck!!

I am a Family Nurse Practitioner and I recommend Eucerin Cream for all my patients with Eczema. Many of my patients are very poor so a store brand generic eucerin works just as well and is sometimes half the price.

My son has this too, his are small spots on the backs of his arms and legs, and recently on his face.  The doctor says it's just dry, and I think he's right.  He did give me some prescription cream for soriasis, but it did nothing!  Lots of lotion every day keeps it pretty much away, but it's still there a bit until summer.  He's had this ever winter, and now he's almost 3!  Eucerin comes in a big blue and white tub, and it works quite well to use at night then then cover it with PJ's!

Sounds like eczema, which is usually on the elbows, knees, upper thighs, and sometimes face. Check out Eucerin with the teal-colored cap (can't remember the name). Look in the ingredients for a product called urea. It will help. It IS a bit greasy, but it wooks very well.

You can also go to CVS Pharmacy, if you have one in your area, and check out Amlactin. I use it on my dry elbows, knees, back of arms, etc., because it has alpha-hydroxy acids in it, and it works WONDERS.

My daughter has eczema and one of the things that her docotr recommended was Aveno lotion. She told me that after he bath not ot dry her, to apply the lotion while her skin was still wet. This seems to work.

Eczema is the "itch that rashes". Don't scrub it, and try not to allow the child to scratch it. My daughter has suffered with it all 6 yrs of her life, but we have it under control to the point that it rarely flares up. The pediatrician suggested a tepid short bath everyday (we have found even every other day works). Pat dry. Rub Eucerin CREAM all over. For really bad cases hydrocortisone (otc or rx) cream can help affected areas. Follow directions on medicine carefully though as it does highten sensitivity to sun. Change in diet may help as eczema has been linked to food allergies ie dairy and eggs. Keeping the skin hydrated is the key. Hope this helps. :)

I agree use eucerin cream it sounds like he may have developed eczema children as well as adults can have it.. My daughter and I both have it .  Keri is a good lotion to use too. Take he to see the dermamtologist to confirm if you are really worried. Watch what types of soap, dertergent you use for him and watch out form items that may be scented or perfumed too. those products too can flair him up and cause dry ,itchy flaky skin. Try not to let him scratch  those area it can become dark and leave  burnt looking skin. don't switch back and forth on personal items. once you get one that works good for him stick to it. it not good to switch detergents, soap, etc.

hope this help if you need further infor email me at srossjohnson1@aol.com

You should try pure African shea butter. Real African shea butter is generally yellow in color and has a natural "nutty" frangrance. The healing benefits of pure shea butter are endless. You may have to find it from street vendor or a local flea market but believe me,it is worth the trouble. It literally cured my son who had SEVERE eczema to the point his poor skin was cracked, weeping and crusting over. He is now two and a half and his skin is clear, soft and supple.

Hi Kalpita my name is Sandra, I'm new to this app.  My 3 yr old gets rashes and dry skin quite a bit too.  I  put baby oil or vaseline on the rash after giving him a bath, while he's still a little wet.  There is also a bath oil by Keri that works really good.  You could always go to your doc and get some cream but I didn't find that worked too good.

Eucerin Lotion works really well. If your two year old is scratching really bad get Hydrocortisone Ointment 1% and put that on the bad spots, and then put lotion over that. If that does not help with the itching you could bring your child in and have the doctor look at it. They may give oral meds to help with the itching. My daughter has eczema, and her doctor said sometimes eczema is caused by having allergies. My daughter would itch so that she would bleed and it was not good at all. They put her on allegera and she is not itching really at all. You still have to use lotion every day, but it worked wonders!

I have tried many products for my daughter's eczema and very dry sensitive skin. I have found that fragrance free Aveeno baby wash works well in the bath (and I only fully bathe her 2 times a week in the winter). Every day I pat her body with a wet washcloth and then put a petroleum free body cream on her (mineral oil and petroleum products actually rob the body of moisture). Burt's Baby Bee and California Baby work pretty well. I follow up with another round of lotion at night. Also if your little one gets red bumps or circular patches of dryness try a little tea tree oil on them.Good luck!

My song gets severe dry skin every year.  It looks like a rash; red and scaley.  And sometimes little bumps form.  I just make sure to use a really good lotion after every bath, and have him reapply sometimes in the afternoon.  It started when he was only 2, and he's 7 now.  Hope this helps.  Katy
