My 4 month old stopped sleeping through the night!

Sounds like a normal 4 month old to me, bless his (and your) heart! My little guy would finnally sleep through the night for a while and then all of a sudden change his ways. But if you feel something is wrong talk to your doctor again and if you still feel something is wrong, take him to another doctor. Always listen to your mommy radar. It could be a phase, it could be teething, it could be a growth spurt. All can cause restless nights.. is he by any chance learning something new?.. like how to sit or to roll over? When ever my daughter is mastering a new skill .. this month its clapping.. she is really restless and wakes several times. Her sleep patterns are never consistent. We will have really good stretches where she sleeps great .. then all the sudden she is a horrible sleeper.. hang in there it will even out.

Don't worry. It's normal that your baby will go through different phases. Mine is the same way. He'll sleep good for a few weeks and then starting waking up a lot again. I think it probably has a lot to do with growth spurts.

I went through the same when my son stopped sleeping through the night at about 4 months. I asked friends and they said i should try weaning him, which i did and i have never looked back. Give it a try. I know the official line is to wait until 6 months but a babies digestive system can take solids from 16 weeks and the doctors and my health visitor have not told me off, they said he was ready for it. Hope this helps

I'm going through an almost identical situation with my four month old daughter. She slept through the night regularly until about 2 weeks ago, and suddenly she is waking up around 3 am every night. My feeling on it is that she is entering a growing phase, and needs to eat more often. I am breastfeeding, but always give her a bottle before bedtime. I find that when she wakes up, I feed her and she goes right back to sleep and usually sleeps the rest of the night. Have you tried this? If it doesn't work, I would take him back to the doctor. If you think something is wrong, trust your instinct. A mother knows better than anyone when her child isn't right!

He very well could be teething, or just going through a phase.  My son slept the same, from about 2 months he was sleeping til 4-5 in the morning, then around 5 months he started waking 2-3 times a night.  That lasted about 2 months, then he got back into his normal sleep pattern.  If he hasn't lost his appetite and seems pretty normal activity-wise, and the doctor didn't seem to think anything was wrong, I wouldn't worry about him being sick.
