Recently, I've had to stop breastfeeding my baby due to me being on several antibiotics... So, now she is completely formula fed until I'm off of them. However, This has been happening over a period of three days. So, day 1, my baby was cranky and screamed and cried all day long... Later that night, she took a poop. But, it was a real big poop, that was normal color, orange/yellow mustard. Then day 2, my baby had screamed and cried all day...And didn't have a bowel movement ALL DAY. And it wasn't until day 3 around 1:15PM She took a very big poop. This time it ended up being green. We went to the doctor today and they said it was common in formula fed babies, and just sent us home. I don't like seeing her hurt. What can I do for her? Anything at all?

you definitely do not need to stop breastfeeding! most oral antibiotics can be taken safely while breastfeeding, but they do increase the risk of thrush. probiotics will help prevention of thrush if taken by both mom and baby. probiotics are safe for babies to take, and most labels will have infant dosages. a lot of doctors will tell mom she needs to stop breastfeeding simply because they are just not up to date on what is safe during breastfeeding.

warm bath, pressing her knees up to her chest, and bicycling them. gently rubbing the tummy in a clockwise direction with the tips of your fingers (do not go counter clockwise, that can move the poop back up).

some people may suggest karo syrup but like honey, karo syrup should be avoided until 12 months old. both honey and karo syrup can cause botulism, which can be fatal.
