My 5 month old babygirl started sleeping through the night at around 2 1/2 months. Now just this week she has started waking up SCREAMING at around 3am an then again at 630. We started feeding her a new oatmeal ( w/ apples & yogurt) and she seems to love it, so i dont think thats the problem. Any ideas???? Thanks!

Does she pull at her ears or chew/gum her fingers? Have a runny nose and or drool a lot, especially when crying? All signs of teething. Watch for fevers as well. Gave my kids infant pain reliever (ask your Dr.)and oragel for over nights. Get a teething ring with nubs on it and one liquid filled and keep in the freezer. Take a clean finger and rub lightly around on her gums, even if she is already breaking teeth, and see if they are hot, a little puffy or if you can feel if new teeth are starting to break through. And what eve you do, DO NOT break her routine. She will get passed it and so will you.

I think it is also her teath. If its that she is waking up because she is hungry, I would give her the cereal and other age appropriate food to fill her belly before she goes to bed. I discourage giving her a bottle (in the middle of the night) because if so, you run the risk of her getting used to that bottle again. The other thing you may try is a pacifier to sooth her.

I was just going to say teething but I would ask your Pedi how often they recommend giving Tylenol b/c my son is 4 months and they suggested only once a day/as needed every 4 to 6 hours. I don't know how consistently to give it b/c he isn't waking up at night due to teething so I would ask.

Mine did the exact same thing, and he is now 10 months and still doesn't sleep through the night. For him it was teething, and nothing worked, no motrin, no hylands teething tablets, nothing. I would and still do give him motrin when he goes to bed, and just let him cry it out, eventually your baby will learn to live with the pain, and put themselves back to sleep. I've stopped checking in on him, because he got in the habit of continuously waking up 4-5 times a night, and after 4 long months we no longer could take the exhaustion, and he now only cries 5-10 min before putting himself back to sleep. Hope it gets better! I've been there.

My daughter started doing that at the same age and she is almost eight months old now, and every time she does this she is getting more teeth. But we also started with the oatmeal thinking that she was just hungry and it didn't seem to help, and since we have stopped giving her the oatmeal and started using the rice cereal it has made a big differance in her sleeping habits when she isn't teething. The oatmeal might be a little too much for your daughter, and the apple might be a factor too. My pediatrician said that apples can be little rough on a babies stomach and most babies can't have the apple.

Growth spurt, teething, sleep regression. All of these things are very common at her age.

My daughter slept through the night almost right after I brought her home from the hospital and then at about 6 months she started waking up at night. However, she would quickly go back to sleep after a quick drink from her bottle. I started keeping a bottle right by the bed and I would get up and give it to her and she would go right back to sleep. She just turned 2 and she still wakes up to get a drink at night but then goes right back to sleep.

Maybe she is cutting new teeth. When my children started cutting new teeth they would always wake up screaming or they would have a hard time falling asleep. I would suggest buying some of those teething tablets from the store. They are all natural. All you do is put 1 to 2 of them under your babies tongue until they dissolve and give it time to stat working. It was a lifesaver for us. It works really well and my kids liked it a lot more than the orajel which didn't seem to last longer than 5 minutes.

She could also be teething.

She may be hungry due to having a growth spurt.
