My 6 month old daughter refuses to eat her baby food. She used to eat it and for the past 3 days will not. Is this okay and how can I get her to eat it again?

Make sure its pureed and not to thick, add a little bit of boiled water to make it a bit runny'r.Milk is her main source of food at the moment.Dont worry to much, once she starts she wont stop...

My daughter refused all mashed and pureed foods at around 6 months (she was on solids at 3 months). She started stealing her brothers food (now 2 1/2) so I gave in and started feeding her the same (sandwiches, toast, fruit pieces, chicken and vegetables - basically whatever we were eating) She loved it.

hmm my baby didn't have any solids at all until about seven months and didn't have actual meals until she was nearly 14 months. Try small, pieces of steamed veggies (cooked until soft) in small manageable pieces that she can feed herself. Purees and gerber junk aren't needed. babies find real food more interesting thus increasing the likelihood they will eat it. Solids really aren't needed until a year or longer anyhow. six months really is the earliest safe starting point for solids barring an extreme situation.

Since she stopped eating her baby food she eats 8 oz at a time now just about everytime she eats. I know she is getting more than enough milk but I just thought they had to eat baby food too. I have tried about 5 different kinds. I know what she does not like and I have tried her favorite and still doesn't want to eat it.

Honestly, in my experience, it will pass. Just keep offering solids each day, but don't force the issue. She'll decide when she's ready for it again. The only thing that might be a problem is if she's had a reaction to it. Sometimes babies know that a food doesn't agree with them even if we didn't notice the first time around. Are you trying to offer different types of foods?

The baby food should not be her main source of food at this age, she still should be getting the same amount of breast milk or fomula that she was getting before. This is just something to get her used to eating and texture/taste of solids but not a main source of nutrition. So dont worry at all if she dosnt want the food. She will come around, just keep trying to give it to her everyday, if she wants it great! If not thats ok too.

Does she have any of her teeth yet? I know when my son started refusing to eat his baby food I started him on regular food that was soft and he would eat. She may be starting to not like the taste of baby food. Try mashed potatoes real bananas mashed up and just about any regular food that is mashed or soft enough for her to eat.
