prune baby food or prune juice worked very well for my baby. My pediatrician said a baby can go for 3-4 days without a stool and this is normal, if it lasts longer she might need a glycerin suppository..but the prunes should do the trick!

It's so normal for this to happen. Every child is so diffrent, I have used Prune juice mix w/water (equal amounts. worked for all my kids and now my grandkids. But if you become too concerned try calling the nurse hotline at your local hospital. They can be very helpful too. Good luck

I work with a great pediatrician who recommends pears or pear juice. Bananas, although high in fiber, contain pectin, which is constipating. Don't give more than 4 oz of plain water in 24-hr period. Glycerin suppositories also recommended. Hope it helps.

My daughter had the same problem as an infant. We used Kayro syrup mixed in formula. Baby food carrots always worked too. If she seems uncomfortable and you need a quick fix try BabyLax. It's a glycerin suppository. You can get it at Walgreens or Kroger. It works in about 15 minutes. Good luck!

prunes and a water down prune juice will help alot. I had gotten my childern to like dried prunes as they got older, I told them they were large rasins. They still like them now. My daugher has baby prunes on Toast and with peanut butter sandwhiches, better then jelly. Good luck

My daughter suffered from constipation for nearly 18 months before she was given something by the doctors. she was given a powder and that helped really well. If she keeps on suffering from if, bring her to the doctors. The powder is called MOVICOL, it is a powder you have to give with a little bit of water., it is only on presciption.

I'd keep giving her the formula and switch out the weetbix for oatmeal (it has more fiber and water) and I'd switch out the banana for for papaya. Bananas are starchy. Papayas have more liquid and are a naturally good digestive plus full of good nutrients plus they're sweet and soft. Try pumping her legs up to her belly more so she gets more movement in her digestive tract.

Try SunSweet plum juice. And stop giving them banannas, till she poos.

I have to make sure I give my sone plenty of fiber in his diet.

good luck

Bananas can cause consitpation, try holding off on the bananas and give prunes lots of prunes. Brianna went through this when we first started her on solids. We held of on the bananas and just gave her the jars of prunes when ever she ate and increased her fiber intake once whe had a softer bowel movement. The nurse at our Doctors office said lots of beans. We have not had any more problems. Good Luck!

I had the exact same problem very early on. My pediatrician recommended Karo Syrup. yuk, right? anyway, she said 1 oz Karo (dark) mixed with 1 oz water. I only do this in extreme situations.(like if she's gone 4 days with no BM) My daughter is now 10 months and still has constipation on a regular basis. I find that if I feed her prunes at least every other day, she stays more regular. Apples or applesauce also have a really good effect on the situation. Also, our ped advised Pear Juice actually works better than Prune Juice. Addie gets up to 4oz EVERY DAY. This has been a worry for me since she was 3 months old. Hope this helps your little one!!!

My son was very constipated when he was switched to Isomil and we put Karo syrup in his water. It doesn't take much though. A little bit goes a long way. It helps him go when he's constipated and then once he's pooped good, I go back to the plain water every other day to keep him regular.

When my daughter was that age she also had consitpation problems. My mother, being a nurse and mother of 6 children, gave me the best advice. Put a tspn. of dark Karo syrup in her bottle of water, NOT the Karo pancake syrup!!! It did the trick and I used it when needed for all 3 of my children.

Applesauce or prunes, WATER a lot of peds docs say that they get enough water in their formula...WRONG water is a natural lube and all living things need water.

u should cut down on yeasty foods and dairy. its binding. too much yeast also causes sinus problems and baby acne. karo syrup will temorarily relieve her constipation until it happens again. but u dont want her body to start relying on it for her to be able to go to the bathroom.

My younger son had this problem as an infant. Our pediatrician, who I trust implicitly said to give him "p" fruits- prunes, pears, peaches. Avoid the BRAT foods- bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast for now. You may consider cutting back solids for a while since formula or breast milk is nutritionally adequate for a six-month-old. If you are giving dairy based foods like yoghurt, you may want to cut those for a while too.

My nephew had this problem when I kept him. I went to Wal-mart and bought some Pear juice. I did not water it down as much and that helped him.

Prunes always worked great for my oldest. My youngest was a little harder and the pediatrician gave him the generic form of Miralax. I also had to cut back on his bananas as they are very constipating for babies.

Be very careful! All babies respond ifferently to all foods. She may have a food allergy that is causing her to bind up. That happened to our son and it actually got so hard it showed as a tumor in an xray. The best this is to eliminate the bananas, cheese, bread and rice. Those are binding elements. Then introduce one at a time (after things loosen up). If you can get her to drink chamomile tea (cooled) in her bottle, that will loosen things up. We consulted our pediatrician and they gave us all this info...we ended up with an enema...PLEASE don't get to that point, it's heartwrenching.

My nephew has had the same problem since birth, he is 7 now and is unable to go naturally, his dr put him on Miralax...All natural, tasteless, odorless and works like magic. Now available over the counter. You just mix it with whatever you give them to drink. I checked with my dr because my daughter has a similar problem, that is what he suggested. It has no side effects, will not harm them and it the best thing on the market. I was told by several ppl to try all kinds of home cures and none worked. What I like about this is that it is, non habit forming and is a natural stool softner. I swear by this stuff.

white kayro syrup - you can by it with syrup products at the supermarket - or you can also my miralax over the counter now - it make the stool absorb more water and therefor passes easier - it is not a laxitive - it will not make your baby go poop but will make things easier to pass

put a little karo into all of her formula bottles. it helped with both of my children.

Do all of these remedies work for adults too?! I'm especially wondering if the Karo syrup would help me!

My son had the same problem almost from birth and our doctor told us to use prune juice, which worked like a charm. We gave him a couple of teaspoon's in like everyother bottle he ate in one day. It worked for my son and now at age 3 he has no more constipation problems. But honestly I would go to the doctor before you try anything because you can only use a certain amount of prune juice in a certain amount of formula. Hope that this helps.

Prune juice... not a lot. a tablespoon to a glass of water, that shoudl be just enough to loosen her up and start going. My son has had so many complications with constipation. Now that he is fully potty trained he is doing much better.

My kids have thisissue to. Don't fret. My mom actually gave me an old time receipe. If you have to give an enima this is what you use. Best ever and you will never go back store bought. 1 cup of warm water and a bit of soft liquid hand soap. Within minutes your child your go. Don't use the suppositories anymore. They actually cause more damage than good. The other thing to use is put a bit of syrup a bottle of water if she still takes a bottle. Warm water. Works like a charm too.

Some formula and rice cereal cause constipation. Too much iron sometimes cause the problem. Switch the formula, most doctors can tell you which is best for your baby. Each baby is different, what works for one, will not always work for another.

Why are you feeding the 6 mos old all of this food. Banana are giving to children and adults for loose bowels. How much does this baby weigh? Please ask your doctor. Infant Jar food, not solid food from the table or your plate. The baby system at 6 months can't disgest all this food.
