Liz, oh wow i did not know that they sold baby heartburn meds OTC. But yea always seek a doctors advice. They go to school for 10+ years for a reason. I'm simply telling you/ her/ anyone, from experience what i did.
The truth is without my sister helping me i would have never looked into it. Nor would i have thought that formula change can help with acid. He put her on soy milk and when that didn't work Her doctor blew it off as she was just colic and didn't fully look into it without being asked to do so.
Kelly, you're right i forgot to mention stirring the milk. specially if you use powered. I use playtex bottles though. I can squeeze most of the air out- i don't know if they help or not- i just like the idea of using a new bag every bottle.

good luck Melinda. Know it might take a few days to see a change. As i said too try to keep her sitting upright as much as you can before bedtime/ after feedings. A car seat works great for this if you can't hold her at that time. Please do not let her sleep for long periods this way. In my opinion it just wouldn't be very comfy for all night sleeping, plus you want her to get used to her crib.

i bought her the playtex bottle with the bag liners to put in to reduce air bubbles. i also bought the Nutramigen formula to switch her onto to see how it helps as well as gripe water and saline drops for her stuffy nose. im not gonna think about real medicine unless none of this works than i will retake her to the doctor to see what she suggests.

They might not in your State, Cecilia, but they DO sell it OTC in mine. The way the OP's other thread sounded at first, before she later clarified it, made it sound as if she was canvassing for opinion on what to give, not what to ask her doctor about.
Unfortunately, we do get people posting on here (not saying that the OP is one) who really would try and give something OTC to a child based on an internet recommendation and without reference to a doctor, so if only for the sake of the other mothers reading, it's best to make it clear that a doctor's input is essential.
As said on the the other thread about this that you've opened: take your child to her doctor. You can't guess at diagnosis, medication and dosage.
If the doctor prescribed the medicine that you are using, then they need to know that it's not working.

The colic might just be the acid reflux... I learned that. i thought my baby was colic and thanks to my sister i got the acid reflux checked out. what medication are you using? There are two types and one might work better than the other. The other thing suggested by my sister was to switch to similac augmentum. Honestly even with meds to get mine to sleep at night i have to hold her pretty much sitting up to help keep the acid down. I have also had her crib tilted upwards by putting blocked under top legs of her crib- pillows to prop her not only do not work- they are dangerous.
Keep trying, you will find something that works. Switch med, switch formula.. Try keeping her propped up. it gets easier as they get older. They want to be upright to sit and play and things so she will be able to keep her acid in her poor belly.
Don't feel bad about putting her down and taking a break. I do fully understand the stress you go through with it. Babies can feel our stress and continuing to hold her might make her worse. Hopefully yours doesn't have the pterodactyl scream that mine does. Be patient, it gets better. Mine is going on 6 months and we're finally understanding what works for her.
