Before  nap time put her diaper on backwards and put duct tape across the diaper tape -- makes it much harder to get off.  A little harder for you also but makes up for the messy clean up if the diaper is off.

Is she doing this to be comfortable or to be rebellious? Is putting her down naked an option? or is she doing the "dirty deed" in her bed?

that's brilliant that he wants get off the nappies, it took me one week to training my boy at the same age. you just need to be persistent and every 2 hours take him to the toilet, if he gets any accidents bettween you count the 2 hours from it. At night by a mattress protector and always have a spare bed clothes. Himself will feel unconfortable sleeping ina wet bed and finally stops, dont give him water after 6pm also helps. You will be very please with him off the nappies, the sooner the better and he is ready for it.

You gone feel in your procket too!!

God Bless

She's ready to be potty trained!! My daughter went through the same thing for about a month it's totally normal. Just make sure you get in the room immediately when she wakes up. My daughter was taking things off right when she woke up. Try taking her right to the potty when she gets up too!! Good luck

Two words DUCT TAPE It's safer than pins, easy, and cheap.
My friend's daughter was always naked ... by choice ... The second her Mom looked the other way she would be taking off her clothes. It's not such a problem with clean diapers but with dirty diapers ... well you know.
Just put a strip of duct tape on either side - carry a pair of safety scissors(the kind used in hospitals to take off bandages) in your diaper bag. It worked perfectly for my friend. Her daughter then STOPPED trying to take off her diaper in about 2 weeks. Good luck!

if she's nimble enough to unsnap a onesie, safety pin it also, then put shorts on and pin those to the shirt as well - or open a window some once it's colder out and she'll want to stay covered up

Duct tape. My daughter did the same thing. I put duct tape on her diaper(around it so it didn't touch her skin) and just left her in that. I wouldn't bother with the clothing but I understand about the diaper. She is trying learn about her clothing and her diaper.

Taking off everything is completely normal..its just a stage. I tried putting my sons diaper on backwards and he figured it out in no time. So I ducktaped his diaper on. I could care less about his clothes. but the diaper coming off was not going to happen. If you do decide to try it out make sure that the tape starts and ends at the back of her diaper. Goodluck and remember that its completely NORMAL and she will grow out of it.

sounds like shes more than ready to be toilet or potty trained. None of my 3 children took to the potty, went straight to toilet, and were dry at night before they were 2. And when shes dry at night there is nothing wrong with sleeping naked or with knickers on, we were after all born naked and respond differently to clothing. good luck

could you try putting her in a one piece with snaps inm the back? Then she can't take it off and may get used to clothes again. Also talk to her abouit it, my son was a little older but after we talked about it he stopped. Good luck!

try not to show that it bothers you having to clean up after her, for some children this is a control thing like attention seeking tantrums. I agree with Lesley, it could be her way of saying mum I hate wearing these things a nap time. Do you feel she is ready for potty training?

Well Sarah, I agree with the idea of Welcome to the terrible twos! I can't count how many times my little Maddison did this, not only at nap time but bedtime, too! And the giggles that came out of her when I descovered the "Crib paintings" were cute now looking back. I ended up taking my little artist out of diapers, putting her into "Big Girl Pull Ups" and also switching her from a crib to a toddler bed. Maybe it was just luck, or her way of telling me she was ready for potty training, because within one week she was fully potty trained during the day, and would go potty before bed and first thing in the morning when she woke. It frustrated me so much that I can remember calling my mother in tears, and saying their was something wrong with my little girl cuz she liked to paint with poo, and laughed about it. Reality is, they don't know any better! They are experiencing texture, and it will pass. Also my mother told me it would be funny to remind her of this when she was an adult! Take care and good luck!!!

I feel your pain. My little man is doing the same. They start to feel some control because they have learned how to do this. Make it harder to undress. This too will pass.

Try putting her in a onesie backwards. Most kids can't manage to unsnap them when they are halfway up their back. Good luck!

put a potty beside the bed and say that if she doesnt want to wear a nappy she has to use a potty, some children respond quickly to training if its what they want..My daughter was 20 months when she refused to wear a nappy day or night and she didn't have any accidents at night

Pull-ups and onesies!! if you can't find onesies in her size (SO hard to find in sizes over 24 mos), you can sew some panties onto a stretchy shirt. my mom said she had to do that with me when I was younger.

My son did that and I used pull up pants on him at nap time instead of diapers. He didn't mind having them on and since there we no tabs for him to pull on, he would leave them alone. It is also a good step to potty training (I told mine that he was getting to be a "big" boy and that now at naps time he got to wear "big boy" pants) It made him feel good and I didn't have to do clean up after naps.

My middle child would do the same thing at nap time. I eventually gave up on nap time, since she used this time to be Picasso with Poo and I got sick of cleaning it up!! and she was not napping any ways!! Good Luck!!

Mine does the same..:-) Today he called from his room: Daddy Elijah poopoo finished..:-)
He was in bed stark naked and handed over a very dirty diaper... Needless to say that most of the contents were plastered over his body and the bed..;-)
He was very proud of himself....

Tam-that is so sad! Horrible that these things happen to children, and even worse when someone doesn't believe it! But I just wanted to say that both my girls went through stages of taking their clothes off, not neccessarily at naptime, but anytime we were at home. I did have one funny story, my now 7-year-old daughter was not yet two, and we were in church, at the beginning of the service we always have a chance to "greet" each other, which involves standing up, talking to the people around us. Well I was turned around speaking to someone behind me when an elderly gentleman said "excuse me, I think she has had an accident"; I turned around and my daughter had taken her diaper off and left it laying in the center aisle of the church! Thankfully it was clean! After that I learned to always have her wear tights under her dress! Don't worry, she'll grow out of it.

Not to scare you but I had experience with a child(not mine) that did this and she had been molested.. when i confronted the toddler she told me what had been done to her by a caretaker, and it was horrific,, i reported it to cps, but nothing was ever done to the perpetrator.. CPS told us it really did not hurt her cause it was someone she knew a teenage babysitter. I actually found her once after i had put her to bed in a closet naked, she had taken a marker to her genitals, and her eyes,,she always got naked! later as she got older we could never leave her alone with any other kids as she tried to repeat to them what had happened to her.. her mom was told by cps to never have her with the bad babysitter but did, and the babysitter molested her two other kids, then she believed us about the babysitter cause her step daughter told her ..she siad she did not believe us at first cause why would her child tell us and not her.well her mom took her to this person thats why. anyone may join my group STOP the HURT! It may just be a stage, but from my experience there was a reason for the strange behavior..I hope nothing has happened to your child, hopefully she is always with you and you can be reassured this is just a stage..

Welcome to the world of 'the terrible twos' :)... unfortunately, the only suggestion i can give you is to put the little one in something that's harder to take off. Onsies are a fairly safe bet.... as are any pants that button and/or zip. They're usually a little more snug around the waist, making it just a little more difficult for the kid to get them off. If it helps any... my daughter is almost 2 and started doing the same thing about a month ago :)

Hi just another suggestion, how about putting her diaper on backwards, so the tabs are in the back?

Have you tried putting her in clothes that are harder to take off, overalls, onsies or shirts with snaps on the crotch.
