I would definitely take her to a different doctor. Babies don't cry because they like to! I can't even imagine your stress level right now! Keep taking her to doctors until you find one that will take you seriously and find out what is wrong! Good luck.....

It did not solve all her issues but she does breastfeed way better. If that makes sense.

What area do you live in?

Hi. I was blessed with three content happy babies, so I cannot imagine what you are going through. My heart hurts for all of you. Have you ever heard of Gripe Water? I have in-home daycare in my home and care only for infants. I have had a couple that cried, and their moms brought me Gripe Water It is holistic and can be found at CVS Pharmacy, etc. It is amazing. The babies' colic was soothed and they were able to rest and we got through it pretty quickly.



Other than that, get a 2nd opinion QUICK! I hate to think about what the upset does not just to her and your other children, but to you, as well. God bless you. I'll send a prayer up for some relief.

yes she was and still is gassy...everything I read in the article is her...she was diagnosed with acid reflux and colic but she still is the same...I pulled up her lip and the skin at the top is down between her gums just like the pictures on that article ...can any oral surgeon fix the problem? how is your daughter now?

Was she really gassy as a baby? I actually found it myself and took a picture. She just had it fixed last week. We drove 7 hours to see the dentist whose article I shared above.

Zainab your little guy has acid reflux.....my daughter was given zantac and she still crys...did meds work for your son....sometimes I wonder if it is reflux and not just the doctors giving me something to get me outta the office....she arches her back and puts her head right back and stiffens right up...breaks out in a sweat while she is crying...was that what your son was like...she still does that even after the zantac...sometimes I find she gets worse after the zantac...and the thing about her is she is really bad at home but it seems like when we bring her to the doctors she doesnt cry....so when I try to explain to them whats going on she makes me look crazy.....so its hard for them to do anything cause she isnt acting the same way.....i told my husband we need to video tape her so they can see what is really going on

You poor thing I understand the acid reflux my little guy has it but its very severe I know the screaming and the crying kills you inside and the exhaustion does not help either but a second opinion will I got five different ones from three doctors and two pediatricians I feel your pain but patience is key I feel for you

Sounds like you need a second opinion! There is no reason any great doctor would allow a child to cry like that! Your daughter needs help and you need to advocate for her, stand your ground with the doctors, keep taking her back until they give you answers, tell them you won't leave the office until they figure it out or a plan to figure it out! Ask for an ultra sound on the hernia maybe it's strangulating!

I have to advocate for my special needs premature son, a 24 weeker that's 2 know but still very sick! It's hard but it's worth while when you get those smiles when there feeling better!

My heart is breaking for you Loretta. I can tell you this much. I am a grown women with a massive hernia and it does cause me pain esp after I eat. It's hard to digest food properly. She can't tell you or the Dr. when it hurts the most. Does she cry harder after a feeding or when she lays on her tummy? Have you tried getting in a warm tub of water with her and just letting her soak with you? My daughter was colicky for the first 4 months of life and we spent A LOT of time soaking away her baby blues and mine. I wish I could offer more help but I can send you my prayers. I would, however, demand a 2nd opinion. Any Peds doctor worth their salt would not be accepting of a baby crying that much a day. It's not healthy for her or for you. Please keep us posted.

ooo thanx erica...its so hard... I wish someone would just tell me whats wrong so we can fix it....I think with all her crying what quality of life is she having.....usually when mommy picks up a baby they are content even just for awhile...not alyssa ....doesnt matter what we do she crys and it breaks my heart ....her twin brother smiles all the time...he is so happy and she has never smiled and as a mother i would do anything to take her discomfort away and have her smile at me just one time

My daughter is the same way but she's 7 months now. She spent from 3 weeks to 5.5 months screaming all the time. She was never happy. Now at 7 months she still cries a lot. It's not all day but still a good chunk. We just found out she had a lip and tongue tie that played a part in the crying but I would really like to figure out why she's so irritable all the time. Sorry I'm not full of advice. Just wanted to send you my hugs and to know you are not alone.

It sounds like its her hernia as my little girl whose now 7 had 1 in her bowl and she used to cry with her 1 if I. Were u I would take her back to your doctors 4 a second opinion and if that doesn't work then I would get some advise off of your health visitor

Hopefully it is just some discomfort due to the hernia and the surgeon can do something about it!

thanx meghan...she has been to the ER about 3 times and to a specialist and a pediatrition ...she is going to see a surgeon next mth about the hernia....she eates ok but only between screaming ....and sleeps for short periods ....mom on the other hand gets no sleep at all..if it is colic she must has a severe case of it...I have 6 kids and have never experienced anything like this

Is there anyway for you to travel to another hospital and go to the ER? or go to a walk in clinic? I'd suggest going to see just about any doctor you can until you get someone who will take your concerns seriously. It sounds like it's beyond just colic if she is crying that much.

Is she eating ok? Does she get much sleep?

If possible, get your hands on the book 'Happiest Baby on the Block' by Harvey Karp. I know it's mostly for colicky babies, but it might help a bit. I found it worked well for my girl. I"ll be honest, the first half of the book is filler but the 5 S's worked for us.
