If your doctor says its ok, please find a better more informed doctor.

Well, I hate to say it but most pediatricians are not educated often enough on foods. my pediatrician actually admitted that when I was shocked seeing the ok'd food list he gave me when my child WAS ready for solids.

Babies are ready for solids when they can sit up, have control over their heads, tongue thrusting, and show interest in food. usually this happens around 6 months. There are to many pediatricians that start babies to soon, and usually it is because they are not sleeping through the night. you are lucky, most kids wake up every 2 hours. And don't be surprised when your baby is about 3 months old and is going through a growth spurt. he will be waking up more often and eating more in one sitting.

Go by the ques of your baby. Not what the doctor tells you your baby is suppose to be doing. Every baby is different.

I would like to add to Little Miss's point that as a parent you have no idea what damage you are potentially causing by starting solids too early. I know lots of parents will tell you their kids were fine but you don't know long term the damage you are doing. My nephew was started on solids way too early and at 2 1/2 he now has to see a doctor because of a prolapsed bowel, while no ones why personally I think it's because he was given solids long before his stomach could handle them.

WAY to young for rice in the bottle. You seriously don't want to try tricks to make your baby sleep. They are SUPPOSE to wake up that often. Your baby is only 2 months old. When he/she gets hungry, that is what they will do. Please all new momma's out there! Stop just trying to get your baby to sleep through the night! That is not the important part of being a parent! It is a part of raising them though. So suck it up, and wake up to feed them. All of us have been through it.

At that age every 3-4 hours is normal! Don't put rice cereal in the bottle at all.

Good. So stop trying to get him to sleep longer than he needs to. Clearly he is hungry. Putting rice in his bottle to fill him up so you can get more sleep, is not healthy for him. It will screw up his natural needs.

Feed your baby. You are lucky it isn't every 1 1/2. your baby is still young. VERY young. Most babies do not sleep through the night for a while to come. What you can do is sleep when the baby sleeps.
