So nice to know I'm not the only mom going through this. We went out of town for Christmas and I thought her schedule got messed up then. She use to sleep eight hours a night now I'm lucky if she will sleep 4 hours at night. She will go to bed at 1130, wake at 330, eat, sleep again, and wake back up at 730. She has been getting cereal in her bottles since she was 2 months old and I started feeding her cereal when she was 3 months old. I don't remember any of my other children doing this!

I am having the same problem as you. I give mine cereal and fruit or veggies at night and she was doing well but now she is not sleeping very well at night and we have kept the same schedule so im not sure what to do either.

I wonder if he is in a growth spurt? What i've experienced with my babies is that there are certain stages where they eat more, are fussy more and need more nurturing. Its usually right before they master a new skill in their development. Its true about routine... Finding out his will be lifelong fun and challenges....Has your Doctor given you the go ahead for rice cereal??? It helps their bellies to stay satisfied... Thats if they don't get constipated, or have an allergic reaction to the food.

It's not unusual for a babies once steady sleeping pattern to suddenly change. I've had to make many adjustments to sleeping times, nap times, feeding times as my son progressed in age. Is he on a napping schedule, too? If he is sleeping for a while before "bedtime" that would definitely have an impact on his ability to stay asleep at night. I would "tweak" his schedule a bit according to what you see fit. Maybe keep him up for a least a few hours to an hour and half before bedtime, or just start putting him to bed a little later. Music and a warm bath before bed may help, too. I wouldn't load him up on food before you put him to sleep, cause that may cause some indegestion and possibly be waking him up. I started my son on 1st foods at 4 1/2 months so maybe he is ready for something other then milk and cereal.

If you are just starting to introduce baby cereal make sure to feed him before bedtime.. he could be waking up hungry. however, I would not feed him if he wakes up in the middle of the night as he might feel "rewarded" in a way and it might encourage him to keep waking up to get fed. My son went through this a couple times. and now he is sleeping allll on his own I just lay him down in his bed awake and he comes and wakes me up in the morning around 7:30 and we snuggle for half an hour =D... hopefully your son outgrows this! Good luck!

Try putting a fan in your baby's room. My daughter has a hard time sleeping if there isn't white noise. It kind of hums them to sleep and keeps them sleeping!

Are you giving him any cereal or other babyfood yet? Maybe he is about to hit a growth spurt and is waking up hungry? If it was me I would just tend to him (diaper or bottle, whatever) and lay him back down when done. Keep the room dim and try to avoid stimulating him if possible.

he might be going through a growth spurt so will hopefully get back to sleeping soon, or it could be teething bothering him.
