the best why for me was take of the nappy leave the pottey in the bathroom and ask her every 15 mins then take her every 20 mins to half an hour, stay in doors for three days keep repeating the same thing when out take lots of bottom clothes. but with in three days my twins were potty trained .every time they did some thing on the potty i had a little box or bag of thir favourite sweet , fruit or stickers.my twins were 17 months , they did have the odd accident but i would just tell them they know were the potty is and get them to sit on it for a second and when we are out i have a potty on me or i find out were the toilels are .and allways tell them if they need the toillet to tell me,.

All my 3 children were trained dry day and night by the age of approx. 30 months. You have to be patient, put them on the potty for daytime training at about 12 months old don;t make a big thing of this keep it all calm, give them a book to look at and when they have done their toliet give them great praise. Try to do this often throughout the day. For night time training what I did was reduce the amount of liquid a couple of hours before bedtime, then before you go to bed take the little one up and put them on the potty or toilet more often than not they will do a wee, then tell them quietly how good they are hug them and return them to their bed. Keep at this and you will achieve what you want dry days and nights. If they have an accident don't be cross just tell them gentely that it is wrong not to let you know they need the toilet. I hope my advice is of help to you.

You need to put her in BIG GIRL underware.  Simple as that.  She will have some ooops but she will catch on really quick...esp if she is only 19 months.  Girls are so easy to train.

I used stickers and bribery to potty train my daughter :) First start with getting rid of the pull-ups. If she knows she can go in those, she will never really try in the potty. It may be messy for the first few times, but maybe try this on the weekend when you have no place to be. I made a chart (or use a calendar) with little squares on it that hung at her level on the fridge. Everytime my daughter would go, I would praise her and we would do the pee pee dance. She then got to put a sticker on the chart. For some reason she caught on quick with that. She would go to the chart first wanting to put a sticker on, but I would explain, and take her to the potty and let her sit. Once she figured out she had to potty to get a sticker it worked all the time! good luck!

My children are older now, but I found that at age 3 they are ready. If u just wait they will train in a weekend. The pull ups, etc. are ridiculous. Don't force it, it will be too stressful on you.

if shes going to much in her pull up i know this sounds bad but put her in underwear after a couple of accidents shell go to the potty more my daughter will be 3 in nov and shes been potty trained since she was 18 months. and always reward her after she goes keep her happy about going riah will be 3 soon and she still gives me a high five after she goes and smiles all proud

get rid of those pull ups - they're ridiculous! go to the hardware store and buy a can of rug cleaner, buy her some cute little undies or come cotton potty panties that she can pull down herself. she needs to be able to accomplish something so she'll get into it. i use stickers. when she's done w/all of it - after she's washed her hands, she comes out and there's a "potty" sticker to put on her little board.

my son will be 3 next month and he pees in the toilet no bother but when it comes to do anything else he just wont and would rather do it in his pants,any ideas of how i can get him to poop in the toilet?

Perhaps it is early but encourage her by taking her to the store and buying "Big girl" undies and explain to her that she can start wearing these when she learns to go to the potty. I agree that the pullups are a waste and too expensive. Use them sparingly. If you are a saty at home mom let her go bare all day - no diaper - let her know where the potty is (perhaps put it in the middle of the living room/TV room) so she can hop on it when she feels the need - reward her when she goes and let her do that all day. If she has an accident on the floor, oh well, it is a learning process.

Well u are not alone, my son use to do the same but refused to sit on the potty.Then we noticed becauze he did everything his bigger sister did (9yrs) would try to jump on the toilet with his nappy on, sit & peee.Ever since if he said he wanted to peee we would remove his nappy & allow him to us the toilet, under adult super vision.

Childen today do what they see & instead of wat they told.



She most probebly thinks why should I wee in this potty & everyone else wee in the big toilet. Maybe get the steps to attach to toilet. Always make sure she is supervised.

if you have any friends with kids already using a potty let her be around them to see how they do it. my kids have 2 years age difference, the eldest began using the potty at around 30 months and the younger one just copied without any encouragement from me.

My daughter is 20 mths. We are potty trainig now. She likes it but and I have no problems getting her to o. Today she went poo in tha toilet and it was so funny because she looked @ it and was scared to flush! But I do agree with you to enforce potty training...

I remember myself sitting with my baby girl every time she needed to use the potty chair and reading to her because she loved to be read to very much. She loved the time I spent with her  while she was on her potty chair. I know a girl a bit older than yours that started using the potty when her mother brought it out in the yard and put it in the middle of it. After that she started wearing panties and everything was OK.

I had the same problem with my daughter and as a matter a fact shes almost three and sometimes still wants to jump off the potty before she has finished wish when it happens can make a huge mess. However, something i have found that works at least 90% of the time for me is having a special book(s) that are for reading on the potty. Since this is the only chance I give her to look at that particular book(s) she is more likely to sit longer and finish the job.

The best thing I did was to make David wear big boy pants instead of the pull-up. he would just go in the pull-up. We went through a lot of wet pants, but he was trained before he was three. We also do a little potty dance when he goes and he gets a special treat (usually candy). Now he naps without an accident and at night he wears pull-ups, but they are usually dry when he wakes up. i don't plan on buying anymore.

I totally agree, and have also heard this a lot. they will show interest when they are ready to start. I found reading a book to them while on the potty helped them to sit longer.

We had the same problem - getting a pull up and hiding to poop. I would make her change herself after she did it. Also, we went out all day once and I knew she had to go, as soon as we got home, we put her on the potty, and sat there with her while she went. I think she was scared of the thing. Then we painted her nails as a reward for finally doing it and the rest is history!

well i have a three year old who i started training at the age of 12 months and she was train by 18 months. She has never had an accident or pee her bed. Everyone say they will learn own their own but my suggestion is to enforce it. GET RID OF THE PULLUPS! They are just like diapers. USE THE PULL UPS AT NIGHT ONLY! When u got to the bathroom have her sit on the potty. When watching her 30 minutes of tv have her sit on the potty in front of the tv. FREQUENTLY THROUGHOUT THE DAY HAVE HER SIT ON THE POTTY UNTIL SAHE DOES SOMETHING! and reward her with something and praise and clap for her. Soon she will be doing it own her own.

We started training "loosely" at 18 months, took it slow and easy, and played up the potty differently as Delaneys interests changed over the months. We read potty books, but only while on the potty, so if she wanted to read them she had to sit. I had her sit on her potty while I went. We used mini books as poop rewards when she wasn't doing #2 on her potty. She stopped using the potty completely for a little while (she got a new brother), then we shopped for princess panties - and talked about how we shouldn't tinkle on Cinderella, etc. Mini marshmallows for tinkles, or lolipops for poops worked after that, and now at 25 months, high fives and regular reminders throughout the day keep us all but occasionally mess free.

When my daughter was ready we just didn't put anything on her from the waist down for a day. She would do a little dance and we would take her potty. After some praises and a small piece of candy the next day she wore panties and then she just started to take off with the potty training. Now she is three and goes by herself all the time.

Alwys put my kids right onto the big potty with a potty seat! Both trained before 2 and I think the best thing is letting them see you use the potty....my kids alwys wanted to try what mom and dad were doing! In a one bathroom house, we had no choice, but it worked like a dream. Monkey see, monkey do!

If I were to have another child I would not ever use Pull-ups again ,your right they are very confusing. It seems to me that more people are having more problems potty traing than when my 13 yr old was little.

Take the pull-up away!!! With my first son, it seemed as though underwear and pull-up gave him "permission" to pee his pants. However, I got aggrevated one day and made him go "bare-butt" under his clothes. He never peed his pants again. You can give it a try...worked for me.

Wow! 19 months is young to potty train. If she can do it and you have the patience to deal with the accidents, more power to you! You'll be sparing the environment another year of diapers! For my daughter, we tried at 22 months, but she didn't really get it. Tried every couple months thereafter. Tried to motivate her with lots of praise, stickers, small candy, trips to Chuck E.Cheese. Nothing really worked for her. Finally, she learned #1 at 2.5 y.o. after having a couple of wet accidents in underwear -- something about the wet feeling helped her learn. So I definitely recommend going straight to underwear when you think she can do it and just using pull ups when it would be really inconvenient for her to have an accident. We had a couple of books about going potty next to her potty seat so she could sit and read them while she went. "Big Girls Use the Potty" was one that she enjoyed -- it has pictures of little girls sitting on their potties -- so she wante to imitate them. Also had her watch the "Once Upon a Potty" DVD everyday for a month which seemed to help a lot. But she was still REFUSING to poop on the potty (she would ask for a diaper to poop in) until we just took her diapers away on her 3rd birthday, fed her lots of prunes, and made her sit on the potty until she pooped. It worked! Now she's 1 month past her 3rd birthday and 100% potty trained and happy! I bought the book "Potty Train Your Child in just One Day" halfway through the process, and kinda wished I read it before i started the process -- has lots of tips on when your child is truly ready, and if you start with the principles in the book, it'll probably work fairly painlessly. In our case, because we started with a different method, the whole potty thing had some baggage attached to it already by the time we tried the book's method. Good luck to you!

I always find it easier to use some kind of encouragement. When she goes to the potty, let her know that if she uses it she would be rewarded. It doesn't have to be something really big. Stickers are the best reward for a 2year old. If she poops in the potty, give her 2 stickers. If she stays dry all day give her a really big reward like a trip to the park or something that she would really like. It may take some time before she catch on to the reward system, but it will work. The main thing for parents with children that are potty training is to be patient!

Sad to say my 3yr.daughter potty trained herself :o) I tried the traininhg panties, the sit down every 30 min. she was just not intrested. One day she just said I dont want to wear pull ups anymore and I said okay. We still kept them on at night for awhile but shortly after that she said I want to wear my panties to bed and I simply said okay. Now, that being said there were and are still accidents every now and then. My 5yrs old step daughter has accidents still every weekend she stays at the house. Mostly becuase I think they are still letting her wear a pull up at night so it's fustrating at times but... I think the easiest way is to have patience and realize you might have to change the sheets 2-3 times a night sometimes. I think just letting them wet them selves is really the best way for them to understand why they need to get to the potty. Good luck and remember no way is the right way. The right way is whatever works for you even if people say what the hell are you thinking hehehe.

My kids would have accidents while watching tv so the rule is if they want to watch tv they have to go before they turn the tv on. Same with meals because I found that's when accidents occurred so they have to g before they eat. I hope that helps.

I received this book.  My son at 2 would sit on the potty but would not go.  Then he refused altogether to even sit on the potty.  When my son was 3, we tried training him again with this book, and it worked like a charm.  He was trained within a day and a half (day and night).  The first few weeks, you just need to remind them to tell you if they need to go potty.  I had a 4 month old baby when we started training him at 3, so there was a lot going on.  He has done wonderfully since.  I swear by this method, I only wish I had come across this sooner.  This method recommends children be no younger than 22 months though.  Good luck to all the parents just starting to potty train.

I know it sounds cruel, but go shopping with your son.  Tell him to pick out a potty that he likes and the next day you will help him go on the potty.  The next day when he gets up put on his underwear, throw out all his pull ups and tell him needs to tell you when he has to go poop.  Give him lots of praise through out the day, and get ready to give rewards.  Even if he tries to go on the potty but doesn't make it.  Tell him how he is a big boy, and you are so proud of him.  Let him feel like he is in control when you talk to him, and encourage him to go on the potty.  It may take a couple of days, but I am sure he will be going on the potty within 1-3 days.  My son was 3 when I started to really potty train him, and he was adament about not using the potty either.  Within a day and a half, he was fully potty trained day and night and for both peeing and pooping.  Remember no negativeness as it impeeds on his self esteem.  If he has an accident, tell him it is ok, but maybe next time he could remember to tell you he has to go poop.

She'll let you know when she's ready. Let her know she's done great knowing she needs to pee. Show her she can sit on it when she pee's - but don't stress out about it. The more you stress the bigger the issue will be & lower her self esteem. My son started at 2 yrs then stopped & at 3 1/2 decided he didn't need nappies - & we haven't needed night nappies or anything. He's done brilliantly. Yep a few late runs etc - but just remember to encourage, support & praise her efforts. Remember - when you were a kid & how you felt when you weren't ready but your parents 'thought you should do it NOW'. She'll be fine & so will you. Just keep supporting her & encouraging - and everything will just fall into place! My son thought it fun to sit on his potty while I was on the toilet to have a 'chat' - didn't do anything, but we made it FUN.

Throw away the pull ups! Only use them at night and nap time. Children are smart they know the pullups dont leak, my 2 year old is totally broke, but if I put her in a pull up she will potty in it.

Get into a routine. Before she goes for a nap. have her sit on the pot while you read a short story to her. or by doing this after her nap. or first thing in the morning. My boys were always willing and ready to sit and wait for a story. and if she pees great if not that is ok. too.

when my daughter was 18 months i started letting her watch me go to the bathroom to get her interested. then we started the pullups and then the training underwear. she would go on the potty chair when she wanted to but would never stick to it. i didnt know what else to try i have always left the potty chair out for her. then one day she just went all by herself. i did the reward system with the m & ms and went to the store and let her pick out her own big girl panties. the stickers on the chart is to long term and kids dont understand how long a week is. they are only worried about what is going to happen with in the next hour. my daughter is now 2 1/2 and is fully potty trained during the day but i still put a pull up on her at night. you cant force them to go when they are ready they will let you know. whatever you do never get upset and mad when they do have an accident and the best of luck to you.

I would just put potty in view of toilet and when you go to the toilet let her see you and let her know mummy is a big girl and uses big girl toilet, without criticising her great work. But at 19 months - no stress. If you dont want her to use potty. Get rid of it and she'll have no choice!! I too used the mm reward, but did not need to for long. Good luck and she is doing very well. Remember at 25yo who will care!!! It is a short time and good luck!

My 2 daughters did the same thing just after the baby came. Both regressed. I had to give rewards and constant praise for using the toilet. Praise, praise, praise and clapping.

Mine have rules like when they sit down to a meal they have to go to the toilet, go outside, in the pram, in the car, sit down to their favourite tv show and these are all cues to go. It is also a cue for me to make sure they've gone recently.

I have a six year old and a three year old. Both were potty trained by 18 months. My method was this, every 30 minutes that they were awake I took them to the potty, sat them down and we read a book. If they did go, they got a treat. Popsicle, gummies, etc. They were both trained within 2 weeks.

I have the book and movie "Once Upon a Potty". It teaches little ones how to use the potty, and it's a cute cartoon. I put the potty in front of the TV and let my daugther watch the movie multiple times, eventually I took off her pull-up, and she would sit on her potty and watch the movie. It took a few days, but she was using the potty just like the little girl in the movie. And I would reward her with an M&M. This method worked on both my daughters.

Have multiple potties around the house so when she feels like she has to go it is convent for her. Also put her in panties or training panties which sre just thicker but not diaper like. Tell her she a big girl now and give her the potties as a gift. There is also a video called once upon a potty. I purchased it @ one step ahead .com When she makes a mistake don't get mad for that could lower her selfastem. When purchasing potties make them fun, ones that talk etc..... Try putting a step stool by the toilet with a potty seat that fits over. Kids love to imitate there parents so bring her in the bathroom with you or just leave the door open if you can. Hope this helps I had my two girls potty trained before the age of two. Also don't do the candy treats, kids are wanting to be praised for a good job to make you proud. Hope this helps.
