i use to suck my thumb... it was easier during the day to stop (although I was older, maybe 4 or 5) but at night my thumb always found its way into my mouth. my mom put a winter glove over my hand. if you think she will take the glove off you can always tape it to her using something like box tape.

It sounds mean but you have to get her to stop I'm a Dental Nurse and some of my Pt have had to do this to there chrildren but it works!!!!! From the chemist you get a bandage or there is this tape not straping tape it is easy to remove it just sticks to its self and you just wrap it aronud her elbow when she goes to sleep do it to both of them and this will stop her being able to suck her thumb. If she does it through the day just try everything. Well also used to sell thumb guards that would stop them getting the suck feeling from the thumb. GOOD LUCK

One problem with thumb-sucking is that it can cause dental problems like "buck-teeth". It's a hard habit to break because of a child's natural desire to suck; it's a mean of self-comfort. My grandmother used to stick my thumbs in horseradish --- GROSS !! She also used to have me hold my thumbs - tucked in my fists - like someone might try to steal them. :-) Make a kind of game out of it - and have her hide her thumbs - either tuck them in her fists or hide them in her pockets.

My daughter is 4 and she still sucks her thumb.  I tried everything under the sun but unfortuantely she happened to like them all but you can try it might work for you.  There is a product called Thumsit you put it on the nail like nail polish and it's supposed to have a bitter taste, my mom told me to try lemonade with out sugar since it is sour, I even tried a little speck of ciajan peper but she liked them all.  I hope you find something that works and if you do please let me know
