She could also be developing eczema, which is just a chronic dry, itchy skin. my son got a rash from it for the first time around a year. I thought for sure he had something awful (measles, chicken pox, i don't know) If they are eczema, they will probably become really itchy (they didn't bother my son at first either, but after a couple of days of this rash (which didn't change or anything) i noticed he wasn't sleeping well at night and he was cranky all day. I called the dr. took him in and that's what it was. You might try to mix eucerin cream with some hydrocortisone cream (neither of which will harm her if it turns out not to be eczema, but will help tremendously if it is) and apply to the red areas. Also, do not use baby lotion as it can aggravate an eczema outbreak. Her baths should be spaced at least every other day if not every 3 days as too much water on the skin can be drying. The water should be lukewarm, too hot or too cold can aggravate an outbreak. Keep the skin well-hydrated with some eucerin cream (plain) or some aquaphor (which is an ointment made my the eucerin co. and works great). If it is eczema, it will probably get worse with the cold weather, so keep a humidifier in her room to help keep the air from being too dry. Once you get this outbreak under control, you don't have to be as diligent, but still try not to overbathe her and keep an eye out for signs of another outbreak so you can treat it before it gets itchy and uncomfortable for her. She'll probably outgrow it by the time she turns five. good luck. If the eucerin and hydrocortisone creams don't help in a day or so, I'd call the dr.

Sounds like heat rash, but my heat rash always itched.

http://www.askdrsears.com/html/11/T08290...

THE ONE RASH THAT REQUIRES AN URGENT PAGE TO YOUR DOCTOR OR ER VISIT RIGHT AWAY IS:

This rash is called petechiae or purpura. It is caused by ruptured blood vessels under the skin. Petechiae appear as tiny, red, pinpoint, flat spots. They look as if someone used a fine-tip red ink pen to put little dots on the skin. Purpura is similar, but is larger and can be more purple or blue in color. The two most important signs that you can use to distinguish these spots from other rashes are:

They don't blanch when you press on them. Many other kinds of spots, when pressed, will turn white or skin colored for 1 or 2 seconds, and then turn red again. Petechiae and purpura will stay red or purple. They won't blanch at all when pressed.

They are completely flat. Because they occur under the skin, you won't be able to feel any bump.

There is one situation where petechiae are not urgent. If your child has a very bad cough or is vomiting, the pressure in the head can cause little blood vessels in the skin of the face and neck to rupture and form petechiae. THESE PETECHIAE ARE OK. THEY ARE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT.

PETECHIAE OR PURPURA FOUND ANYWHERE ELSE ON THE BODY BESIDES THE FACE AND NECK COULD BE A SIGN OF A BLEEDING PROBLEM OR A SERIOUS INFECTION. IF YOU SUSPECT THIS RASH YOU SHOULD SEE YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY, OR BE EVALUATED IN AN ER AFTER HOURS.

Roseola (spelling). It will come after a fever. If you stretch the skin a little do they disappear? My daughter has gotten this a few times and when we took her to the doctor he said it was nothing to worry about, it doesn't bother her. That there are thousands of forms of it and it would clear in a few days. But to be on the safe side I'd take her in just to get it checked out.

It could either be a heat rash (that's what it sounds more like) or it could be she is allergic to the laundry detergent and fabric softener you use on her clothes, the lotion you use on her or the soap you use when giving her a bath.. Simply put, it could be she is allergic to fragrances and dyes. If it's that, get her fragrance free everything. But it sounds more along the lines of heat rash and in THAT case, powder to keep her skin dry and clothes that breathe easily (100% cotton or at least 80%).

My son had something like that on chest and abdomen; turned out to be an allergic reaction to a sulfa drug he'd been prescribed for an infection.

It could be roasia...probably spelled that wrong but my son had something very similar to what you are describing. It lasts about 3-5 days. Its just a virus. If it lasts longer I would definitely make a doctor's appointment.

I think my son just had something like that. Like little tiny bumps, almost like goosebumps? It was all over his chest and back and tummy too. It didn't seem to bother him and went away after a few days so I didn't worry about it.

heat rash looks like this. apply cold to it.. (it might sting a litte, but will fadein about an hour) also can be sensitivities to changes in washing powder also.. where clothes and bedding rub. apply calamine lotion after washing area in cool water./.. also grass rash looks like this about 1/2 hour after contact with grass... otherwise all rashes should be seen by a dr. if it is PURPLE and spreading around neck area, it is urgent.. if in doubt go and get checked... good luck!
