My daughter's doctor told me that I need to clean out her ears with peroxide.

As soon as I pour it in her ear she panics. I have done it to my sister and let her do it to me to show my daughter that it doesn't hurt. She will not let me do it. Any suggestions?

We did that growning up and I still do now, just make it fun my mom used to call it a party in our ears and let us have something special at the same time(juice box or milkshakes something that can be drank through a straw) she'll get used to it.

i would try to put it on a q-tip. then she will just think that you are cleaning her ears and not using the peroxide... it may sound silly but the bottle may scare her more than anything... i had to do this with my son and when i switched from the bottle to the q-tip it was all better....

I stopped doing the pouring in mine because it made me jump every time that cold peroxide hit inside my ears. I got a medicine dropper and it helped a lot. Now I know right when it hits. Maybe it scares her a little, or is just plain uncomfortable. I'd try a dropper and let her put it in.

Do you mix it with water? She probably doesn't like the fizzing sound she hears; it can also make you dizzy-- I do it regularly because i have a horrible time with wax build up-- Maybe if you let her do it? Maybe try the drops you can get at Walmart, they do the same thing, you just put a few in and they thin the wax. --Maybe that wouldnt' be as bad?

What about just putting peroxide on a Q tip to clean out her ears? Thats what I do.

I use some stuff called Debrox to clean out my daughter's ears. I usually start by explaining to her that I'm going to put this stuff in her ears and it will make a silly sound for her to listen to (it makes like a crackling sound in the ear). I still have to wrestle her down into position, but as soon as I put the Debrox in her ear she starts giggling and it's ok from there.

I have done the same with ear drops with my daughter... no luck here either. I wish I had something better to tell you. I've never heard of peroxide being suggested... what was the reason for that suggestion? Just curious since my daughter has lots of wax and has had tubes (now fallen out).
