My daughter wont eat her solids. Help?

yep my daughter didnt start really eating baby food till about a month or two ago, she rather have her formula at the time, but now she eats baby food like crazy n gets excited over it, but she can't do finger/table food right now because she not ready.

I gave my 1st, a boy, at 6 mths old only rice cereal for a month then at 7 mths introduced purees. He started with one veggie per week before I introduced the next one. I did green first, then orange, then yellow. Then I began introducing fruit. Now he is 3 yrs old, he only eats a few veggies, sometimes. But I can get him to eat an orange or yellow veggie puree once in a while just to get veggies in him. He never liked the green ones though, & still doesn't. My 2nd, a girl, is 13 mths. She was interested in rice cereal for about 3 days at 6 mths old. Then started refusing it. So I tried veggie & then fruit purees. She refused those two. Turned out that she was sick. Caught a cold from big brother. She was sick off & on for 2 months. Would only nurse for that time. I think the food tasted funny to her. I know food can taste bad to me when I have a runny nose. Now I can get her to eat 1/2 a little plastic tub of Gerber puree once a day or 1/2 a jar of beef (turns down chicken & found out she is allergic to the pork.) She prefers Puffs & yogart melts & Gerber Crunchies & small bits of adult/table foods to baby food. Every baby is different. Don't feel pressured to have yours eat a certain thing at a certain time. Your kid will get there at their own pace. :)

My daughter never liked purees. She took bottles until she was 15 months. At 9 months, she was eating oatmeal or rice 3 times a day, but her nutrients all came from her formula. We tried to add purees to her cereal, but she would scream and squeeze her mouth shut. I just started her on soft table food in small pieces, like mentions earlier. She loved to feed herself and then she eventually weaned herself on to a snack and meal schedule between 12 and 15 months. by the time we was in a toddler classroom at day care she was feeding herself. It is frustrating, but as long as she is gaining weight she is fine.

she'll take it when she is ready. try a little taste here and there. wouldn't worry too much about it for now.

One of mine hated formula and the only way she would take a bottle even was if I put cereal in it. I didn't make it thick and I know most people will tell you now-a-days not to put cereal in a bottle, but I did what worked for her. It might be an option for you to introduce it slowly that way (especially with the shock of having things that are flavored).

Neither of my kids liked baby food. I started them on tiny tiny bites of table food at 8 months for my oldest and 6 months for by youngest. A lot of people are very against this but every baby is different is different and they need different things. Mine had stopped gaining weight. They both started again a couple weeks after starting table foods. Only very small dissolvable foods. Baby puffs, baby peas (they are extra small and soft), banana, over cooked baked potato, biscuits and gravy, etc... I would give half a bottle first so she isn't in such a hurry to get her food in her.

You're supposed to give the bottle first. Breast milk or formula should be her main source of nutrition right now. Solid foods are just for taste testing and learning how to use her mouth for something other than sucking.

Dude, just give her the bottle first and then let her play with the food. Don't worry about it! Some kids take a while to give a crap about solids. In fact here they tell you to bottle or breast feed before offering solids at that age since that is where all their nutrition is coming from.

Solids are just for fun at this age. A taste once a day... after a bottle... is more than enough.

She's fine and perfectly normal.

She doesn't necessarily NEED to be eating a lot of pureed food at 6 months. Could you give her the bottle first and then try to give her the food after? Or try giving her the food when she's not extremely hungry. Like inbetween a bottle feeding where she's not really full but not yet screaming in hunger.

At this age if she's getting some baby cereal in her once a day that should be good enough, she doesn't need to eat a whole bunch of puree food, and if she's just getting hysterical when your trying to give it to her that isn't helping either right?

At least with my son I gave him the baby cereal and then only tried to give him the puree once in the day at first. But that's just me...
