So today is my 3 year old daughters 1st day of preschool, the drop off went suscessfully, but one thing bothered me. She was not scared or didn't even bat an eye when I walked out of the room! Is it normal for me, as the mother, to be more emotional about our 1st seperation then my daughter? I am going to be a nervous reck all day because this is the 1st time my daughter is in someone else's care besides family. I need thoughts, stories and advice to get me through! haha
Thanks

This just means that you have done an excellent job making her feel secure, safe, and confident. On my daughters' first days at preschool. I walked them to the classroom, gave them hugs, watched them run in and start playing, and then I cried all the way back home. I'm not the only mom who was doing that either!

My daughter started daycare at 2 1/2. We went the day before she was supposed to start and spent the entire morning there (together) I dropped her off the next day by herself and she did great. The second day and about a week or so after were hard. She cried almost everymorning. Now almost 2 years later shes doing great!
I also work in a daycare and drop offs are usually rough while mommy (or daddy) are still in sight but as soon as they see you are gone the whailing usually stops within minutes! So I am sure by next week or no later than the following she will be doing great with little or no tears at drop off! :)

Thanks for all the compliments and support!, the 2nd and 3rd did not go so hot! haha she is getting less and less excited about the whole idea of being in preschool! Today she cried and screamed but the teacher said she was fine when I left, ahhh I felt so bad!

Congratulations on having a confident, secure child! Keep in mind, though, that she may be excited by a new experience and that she might have a set back. My son did the same thing the first week of his preschool and then the second week, he did NOT want to go. I literally had to peel him off of me. He cried, but as soon as I was out of sight, his teachers said he recovered and was just fine. We haven't had a problem since.

As for being a wreck, that is soooo natural! Of course you're going to be anxious about letting your child out of your sight, but just remember that it is good for both of you! Not only do you get a little bit of alone time, your daughter is learning new things and meeting new people.

Good luck to you and enjoy the quiet! :)
