My grandson weighs 33 lbs and he is 8 months old. What should I do?

He weigh 7lbs and 3oz when he was born I am very concern He is now at 33lbs and he is 8 months old... My daughter went to jail and just found out my grandson is living at the daddy's ex wife house. They ex wife sent me pics and telling me he weighs 33 LBS. I always heard the babies should weigh double by 6 months triple by year from birth weight.. Waiting to hear back from court when I could get him but I am very upset how Hardin county is handling this... Really need input on what I should do to get him home faster so I can help him...

Sheri, in some places, having a child this large and overfeeding them is considered child abuse. I would talk to Child Protection about it, because they may be able to check his medical records, etc, too. I can't for the life of me imagine they haven't been told it is a problem by a doctor, so if they are not doing anything about it, then that's just neglect.

My daughter and I got into a fight before she had her soon and her boyfriend has been controlling her from that time on and when she went to jail she wrote me a letter to let me know why she acted the ways she did the day we got into it... She got a year in jail and the father of my grandson didn't tell us. Then I got pics of him and the ex wife and telling ,me he weighs 33 lbs... She sent me pics and he looks like he can't even move... He is so big I just cried... I am in the middle of getting him now and hope it is sooner.. I have another grandson that is 3 years old and he is 32 lbs... It really hurts to see my 8 month old grandson weighing that much... I am going to check into a program to see if I can help him on losing some and staying healthy. Do'es anyone know of a program in KY... Thank you

It will be okay! My son was 7lbs 4oz when he was born, he was always off the charts at his checkups. I always thought he was to big for his age, once he started walking and started being more active he thinned out. My son is now 2 years old and weighs 35lbs, I was at WIC the other day and the nurse there said that by the American Academy of Pediatrics that he is at risk for being overweight in the future. The nurse even disagreed with it. I make sure that my son doesn't eat junk food, doesn't eat fast food. HEALTHY HEALTHY HEALTHY and stay ACTIVE!!!!!!!

How did you only JUST find out your grandson was living at his father's ex-wife's house? Am I to assume you have a poor relationship with your daughter, and therefore have a limited relationship with your grandchild? This IS relevant.
