After bath, we have a spray bottle that has half water half sesame oil, just spray some all over baby and let dry. Then just slather up real good with lotion (Aveeno is great). Our son's eczema has pretty much gone away since we started this. If we miss a night it will start to come back. You can also put some oil in the bath. Good luck!

With natural healing properties have used Mary Kay's Extra Emollient night cream as well.  It's an ointment really and thick, but works wonders healing from the inside out.  My daughters both had problems on their face, hands, arms and legs, and i'ts been a truly wonderful product.  Prescriptions didn't work for them, but within 2 days the skin is close to being healed!

My apologies if someone has already suggested this but... try Sudocrem (a zinc based cream used for nappy rash and eczema).  Please be wary about using cotizone cream as I have been told that prolonged use can make the skin thin and weak.  Avoid soap... except Dove soap or goats milk soap from health food stores.  PH balanced washes from chemists are good too... try QV, Ego and Pine Tar (stinky but good).

most people want to just treat the eczema, not find out the cause of it to stop it. steroid crams and other ointments aren't great from sensitive little bodies. Eczema is usually and allergic reaction to something. when your body is processing something properly is releases the toxins through the skin. the most common allergic reaction that cause eczema is milk or formula or the soap or body washes you are using. try using a gentle was that does not contain sodium lauthrate sulphate (SLS), eg. pine tarsol, gaia, avocado oil body wash. also baby oils can burn the skin, try using and olive oil base baby oil or even just olive oil. hope this help, as you'd rather get rid of it all together than continue treating for the rest of your life. if it is milk or formula they should grow out of it when the immune system gets stronger

Avoid water - it drys out the skin causing it to be worse. The hydrocortisone ointment is excellent.

My son has it too, and I know how frustrating it can be. I took him to a dermatologist, who prescribed cloderm. He also told me to bathe him everyday, let him soak in the water til he's a prune, and use the soap at the very last minute, if at all. Then apply the Rx cream, and a lotion like eucerin, dove, cetaphil. And then cover him with vaseline, or crisco. I know it sounds wierd, but the bath gets the moisture back in, the cream treats the eczema, the lotion helps to moisturize, and the vaseline locks it all in. It does work, because I've tried everything too, you are not alone

could be food allergies. gluten insensitivities, milk, check out Dr. Mercola website and try omega 3 and pro biotics in addition to removing wheat and milk from diet.

My best friend, a mom and an RN, her 4 yr old has it too. I have heard her say the thing that works best for him is using Vaseline most of the time and the 'script cream only a couple times a week. hope this tip works.

Well if you are nursing you could do a first foods diet for yourself and watch and see which foods might be causing an allergic reaction. Also avoid bathing her everyday this will only dry out her skin even more.  There is no magic cream, but I have found desonid foam or creame to work pretty well. Depending on how old she is, you could have her tested for allergies, but this is very evasive, blood tests or the really mean prong test. I know you are agony, but it will pass and gradually get better. Just hang in there.

Depending on where you are, see if you can locate a Pettibon Chiropractor. I know it sounds weird, but it's a therapy based chiropractic that focuses on correcting the shape of the spine. I worked for one, and he treated a kid with eczema that through the Pettibon method was treated with chiropractic care. I've seen it firsthand, and the Pettibon chiropractics WORK!!!

one of the best things I have seen is Xango juice, it is an all-natural juice supplement, has the worlds strongest anti-inflammatory.  my daughter had since birth and when she drinks it regularly, it's completely controlled without having to put anything harsh or chemicals on their sensitive skin.  It has helped hundereds (if not thousands) of people with this skin problem.  you can do it topically and internally and will prob be gone in days...

My daughter also has eczema. I tried everything and nothing worked. I found African Black Soap and Shea butter, and it was a miracle. I moisturized my baby 3-5 times a daya and only bathed her every other day and she immediately began to clear up. Let me know if this works for you :) Good luck sweetie!

I bath my little girl in Hamiltons Bath oil (purchased at Chemist/Pharmacist) It is fantastic and is only thing i use in the bath. I also keep her skin soft by moisturising with sorbelen cream which i keep in the fridge on hot days for cool relief.

I just started my daughter on Vanicream.  It is GREAT! No more dry skin.  I now have the whole family using it.  I'm in Maryland and can only find it in Walgreens.

If you can take her to a dermatologist they will give you a cream that works!! Our son had it on his face as an infant and when he started walking would get it on his elbows, behind his knees (in the bend of the leg) and small spots on his legs. We tried eucerine creams and that didn't help much. We finally took him at age 15 months and he gave us a cream (fluocinolone acetonide ointment) that you put on once in the am and once at night and within 2-3 days it was gone. Then you just keep and eye on it and as you see it coming back, use the cream. Now he's 5 and is pretty clear of it. I rarely see it on him anymore.

I this his may not be for all, as a child I suffered really  bad from eczema I was covered head to toe front and back, nothing worked at the doctors so my mum took me to a homeopathic, well after a while it worked as it cleaned from the inside.  I also switched frm all dairy products, and use goats milk as u may find an intolerance to dairy is also there, hope it helps x

If you are looking for something homeopathic try Calcium Bentonite Clay. I have eczema and it works for me. I had horrible reactions to prescription meds the doctor gave me. I make the clay into a paste and put it on the affected areas. You can order it online at http://www.livingclayco.com/?gclid=CMTn-... Good luck!

Wow you have a lot of comments on this maybe you have found what works best for your little girl, but I can tell you my experience with my little Jasmine. I used all different kinds of creams from the store, which gets expensive. I could use the Eucerin cream from the tub not the pump bottle it is not as thick for her body but not on her face. I took her to dermatologist and he gave us Hydrocortisone with 1% steroid to use then to use Vanacream. It is amazing how fast that helps my little girl. I also use Aveno baby wash and the Baby Detergent for her clothes. If you have any questions please feel free to ask me.

We followed our pediatrician's advice (below). It worked to cure and then prevent what was a horrible, recurring case.

1% cortizone (used sparingly, only 1-2 times a day only until skin begins to heal then stop).
Use Aquaphor ointment liberally (espcially where rash is).
Cetaphyl lotion to keep it under control.

Also, we discovered that where his head/face and legs were in contact with his Graco carseat, the eczema flared up. If you haven't already done this, maybe look for things that make it occur, too?

Try DermaCort and after it's gone, use Renew on a regular basis. You can get it on-line or through the phone and save big $$$. They also have so many other items. I use these regularly. My 7 yr old granddaughter uses renew now. She is no longer suffering from excema.I can help you save $$ and keep an enviro friendly home.

My son has eczema and what works for him is consistency with using Aveeno (or generic brands CVS etc) Oatmeal Bath. Then apply a good cream. Eucerin now has an anti itch creme (calming one). In addition, children who have these conditions usually have allergies/sensitivities and Omega 3 oils helps. Since your child is young I would suggest maybe using CorOmega (made for kids and flavored into some of her food). You can usually buy this in a health food store. Hope this helps.

I did not have time to go through all the responses to see if anyone told you that most likely it is a FOOD ALLERGY.  I own a health food store and am the mother of twins. I see this all the time and while not all cases are a food allergy, almost all of the kids respond when I tell the parents to get rid of all wheat in their diet for 4 days. This is not an easy task, even Mac and cheese has wheat in it.  Please try this as most parents notice visibly that the rash is going away in as little as one day.  Obviously if it is an allergy you will need to cut all wheat out of the diet. Good luck Lisa

My daughter has had horrible eczema since she was born and at age 7 still is fighting it. We've tried many many things. What seems too work best for her is Elledil (it's a precription cream), cortizone and eucerin aquaphor. We put the meds on 2x a day and try to put the aquaphor on at least 3x daily. Also she only uses organic/natural soaps like Burts Bees baby wash their lotions are also great. The best thing you can do is lotion her up as much as possible. Good luck! :-)
