My son had eczema very bad when he was a new born and the DR. told me to give him baths with Aveena baby oatmeal and to put cream on him that they gave me until they could figure out what was making it so bad, it ended up being the Formula....

I myself have lived my entire life with really bad eczema. There are some things that can help reduce the "itch"...always only wear 100% cotton, try to avoid clothing with strong dies, keep skin moisturized with baby oil. Do not use vaseline, it does not allow the skin to breathe. It is very important to keep the skin breathing. Creamy baby oil works the best. Avoid artificial scented products. Eat healthy and avoid foods that are highly acidic (i.e. strawberries). There are many steriodal products that doctors will usually prescribe, but maintaining a healthy diet and good skin care is the best preventative medicine.

Try glicerine soaps. I will try to get the website. There are soaps and lotions you can make yourself that seem to help quite abit. Also try Aveeno products for babies.

Don't bathe him as often and use Eucerin and hydrocortisone cream (Cortaid) for itching. My son has it, too, and that's what the doc said. I think the hydrocortisone helps a lot.

My daughter Gracie gets eczema on her face. What worked well for us was Aveeno Baby Eczema Skin Care. I noticed a major difference by the second day and it was gone by the third. It's steroid and fragrance free so it didn't further irritate her sensitive facial skin. I found it at Wal-Mart in the baby section for about 7 dollars. If you need more help try www.eczemahelp.ca.

You should try bathing your baby in oat milk (normal porridge oats in a little muslin bag left in the hot bath for a while). It really soothes the redness and is cheap and cheerfull too!

My grandson has eczema really bad can only wear cotton clothes due to polyester sets it off really badly. Aquaphor is great. My daughter uses All Free & Clear to wash his clothes. He mainly gets it around his ankles and legs. And yes stay away from milk that sets it off too. When he comes over I make almond milk for him if he wants cereal. I also hear using a water filter in the shower or bath helps.

my daughter got eczema too. started wheh she was a baby till now. started with just rash. so we were using oilatum emolient in the bath and cetraben cream as moisturiser and as soap substiture. when i stopped breastfeeding when she was 7mons old and switched to dairy milk her rash became worst. we did try different creams but none of them helps. until i suggest to the GP to get allergy test done and found out she got dairy, egg, nuts allergy too. but the cream and hydrocortisone helps. and antihistamine too! she is seeng dietitian as well to help with the food allergy. just try different creams and emolients and soon her skin will tell you which cream would suit best. Goodluck.

I have a customer that swears by Mary Kay Velocity cleanser and moisturizer. She has excema on most of her body and these are the only products that help her. Velocity is affordable ($10 for the cleanser and $12 for the moisturizer). and will last 4-6 months on adults so probably longer on babies. It's designed for sensitive or young skin so it's gentle. Let me know if I can send them to you (free shipping)! kjanton@marykay.com

My son had ecema when he was an infant and I found the Baby Ecema Cream and Baby Ecema Wash by Gentle Naturals worked really well. I purchased them at Wlamrt so you should be able to find them. Also I stopped the daily bathing and would just wash up the important parts daily and bath no more than every other day.

I agree with using aquaphor. Does your child have allergies? Do you have pets in the house? If you can identify the allergen and remove it from your child's environment you should see a significant improvement.

Give up milk. All dairy. That's the best place to start. Problems that show up in your skin are major alarms that your body is sending. Chances are you missed signals that were "quieter". Go to www.notmilk.com if you have qualms about taking dairy away from a child.

Before my child goes to bed I would put a thick coat of vaseline on her, it is messy but if you can put her in long pajamas it is not so bad. I got a script for triamcinolone ointment for the trouble spots. I bathe her with a non fragrant soap like dove and put Aveeno lotion on her in the AM plus the ointment.

my son's had eczema been pretty bad and I was told to avoid dairy and eggs which he's allergic to (since im breastfeeding). at the same time i did that i was told by the allergist to use cerave lotion in the morning, cerave soap free cleanser for his bath, and the cerave cream after the bath. I also used elocon on the spots where it was really bad. Within a week his eczema cleared up completely.

My son was the same and it turned out it was related to food allergies. Allergy testing is a good start and to clear up the eczema I used a combination of a bath oil (QV bath oil), soap free wash (Qv wash) and a moisturiser (dermeze), I also found a prescription cream called ELIDEL very helpful and it does not contain any steriods like a cortizone cream.

hi, i dont know where you live. My daughter had one of the worst cases of eczema many doctors had seen, after many many treatments and creams i found a natural product that works. It took a good month to see results but it will worth the effort! Visit www.tichy.net.au, it's a company call Grahams Natural Alternatives, the founder also suffered from serve eczema. What you want is Calendulis Plus Cream it works wonders use it conjuction with the mega oil and the bath oil. The company is australian company but will worth it! My daughters eczema has cleared up completely if she has an odd flare up we whack some cream on the spot and it stop it! Have you gone to a skin specialists and done an alleregy test? That will help in finding out what is triggering the eczema ( my girls allergic to dust mites and cats). I hope this helps you and good luck in finding something that suits you!

ask your doctor for Lotrimin lotion and water it down a little bit with water because it is kind of strong that is what my dad used on me when I was little and it worked, also no tropical fruits the acid can cause a bad reaction.

My oldest had this problem. No dryer sheets. We ended up getting this lotion that helped. His skin for no reason would just get dry, crack and even bleed at times. The lotion was called "Cowboy Magic". It helped. There was a difference after just 3 days. We tried every other thing for months and this was it. I keep it in supply now. Good luck, it's hard being a mom when your children are having a problem.

My 10 yr. old grandson has severe eczema associated with asthma and has tried hundreds of products to no avail. Last month when he was visiting me I felt so sorry for him as he itched and scratched himself bloody. I pulled a stem off my Aloe Vera plant, opened it up and spread it on his skin and within 3 minutes he stopped itching!! I discovered a miracle cure so I went to WalMart and bought a huge bottle of 100% Aloe vera gel (pure, no color added, alcohol and fragrance free) made by Fruit of the Earth (only $5.00). He uses Dove soap and Johnson's baby shampoo and we wash all his clothes and bedding in All Free and Clear (Purex makes it too). I've also heard that tanning beds work wonders too but I think they may be a bit dangerous for a child. Please try the Aloe Vera and let me know if it works for you.

Eczema can be due to food allergy. For my grandson (when an infant) it was rice. We tried many creams before finding out it was food. I have the same problem with rice.. Please don't use hydrocortizone cream. Start with eliminating the most common food allergens, Rice isn't a common one, but it is a problem for some. Dairy is a very common problem these days.

My son has severe eczema and sees a dermatologist. One thing she told me is not to use lotion that has a pump only use jar creams Eucerin is one of the best although a little pricey. Everytime he feels dry rub him down which could be 2-4 times a day.

My now 5-year-old was diagnosed with eczema when she was a baby. She had terrible dry, red patches on the backs of her legs. A woman I met at a health fair suggested that it could be her shampoo, since it runs off and sits in the water, hence back of leg irritation. I really did not believe her, but took home a sample of her baby product and it worked! It cleared her legs right up. Turns out, it wasn't eczema at all. The products were Arbonne's ABC baby line. I fell in love, tried the mommy products and fell in love more. Now I'm an Arbonne consultant, too. My youngest uses the ABC line, my now older uses the FC5 bath products, and I use the RE9. If you'd like more info, you can check out www.christyb.myarbonne.com. Good luck!

My son has eczema and his pediatrician suggested Aquaphor lotion, I also try to keep him from getting too much sun, this seems to make it worse. I also don't scrub his skin very hard when giving him a bath and I make sure I rinse all the soap off really good. I use ALL free and clear detergent also to wash his clothes. All this together seems to make it disappear. He was diagnosed with it when he was 3 months old and now he is 22 mos.

The dr. told us to rub our son down in vasoline after we got him out of the bath. His skin absorbed the vasoline very quickly!! It really did help my son. The dr. told us that when he got older that we could use Crisco instead of vasoline...we won't use that for a few more years. I thought the dr was crazy at first but I am a believer now. We have tried to use more of the natural way instead using prescription meds.

Hi my mum makes a 100% natural soap that is fantastic for eczema. It is a healing soap with the active ingredient of manuka honey that is known to help clear a variety of skin conditions from eczema and dermatitis to skin sores and external ulcers. It can also be used in place of shampoo for those suffering dandruff, flaking scalp or head sores. If you would be interested in try it out let me know and I will send you some to try. She makes a variety of different soaps which are all 100% natural and she uses essential oils. They are fantastic I wont go back to supermarket soap again. They are all made with coconut oil, olive oil and castor oil and different essential oils. Just let me know if you would like to give it a go.....beats using chemicals. Kellie

I buy products from Melaleuca; it's a mail order deal sort of like Amway. They have a wonderful lotion called Renew that has beaten Eucerin in clinical trials. It's relatively unscented and is not greasy. A friend of mine who has eczema uses it on her skin and her son's (he's four) and it really works well.

My baby exhibited symptoms soon after birth. All I did was add a half cap of olive oil to her bath water (small tub), and slather on Method Baby Lotion (All-Natural) afterwards within 3 minutes. It has totally disappeared so far, and she always gets compliments on how beautiful her skin is.
P.S. Now I heard that olive oil, as good as it is, is not technically a moisturizer. So I will soon switch from olive oil, to another natural moisturizing oil. I bathe her every other day, but make sure to lotion her up every day!

Make sure ur child has been diagnosed first. Second, my sons dermatologist gave him hydrocortisone 2.0 prescription strenght. Aveeno oatmeal baths are the best. My son is having a bout right now in the genital area! Oatmeal bath and cortisone and Eucerine lotion (though costly) really do help. They keep to exzema is to ALWAYS keep it dry. Never moist. Vaseline is a myth. Anything powder base and fragrant free is excellent....
