I have overnight diapers but she still wakes up 8 hours later wet. I dont want to wake her just to change her. My husband says the diapers are too big but she is in size 3 and 5 1/2 months old. Any help?

We use the Pampers 12hr diapers. Normally when she starts waking up wet I move onto the next size. Although I think you already have. At the mo we still have the prob that my LO is waking up wet after 12hrs of sleeping, but thats cos she drinks a heck of a lot during the day. Up to 8x8oz. So I try to change her just before i got to bed. I leave her in bed and change her and most night she just sleeps through it. If not I give her a tiny bottle. about 2oz and she falls asleep again.

I use cloth diapers and I can't say enough about them. At night we use a prefold with a PUL wrap and over top of that we use a wool soaker/cover. The wool cover is key! Before we got one we had leaks at night all the time. I even switched to disposables for night in hopes of avoiding the wet jammies and bedding change at 3am. But even with sposies we had leaking all the time. Wool is the best! It can hold up to 30% of its own weight in moisture before it starts to feel damp. When my son gets changed in the morning, the diaper underneath is always soaked but the wool keeps everything on the outside dry. It's also antimicrobial and very easy to care for. I don't have high hopes of converting you (or any other moms) to cloth, but I don't see any reason you couldn't use a wool soaker over top of a disposable diaper at night. Here's the link to the site where I buy mine from...

A pair of longies or footies might do the trick too. And if you don't see the size you want or a colour/pattern that appeals to you, just keep checking back because there are always new ones made and posted.

You can buy a product called Nappy Mates from the chemist which you put in the bottom of the nappy ( looks like a pad). They are especially good for night time as i had the same problems for a couple of months with my baby. They are around $7 for a pack of 10.

Try huggies overnites. Buy one size bigger than the daytime doapers you buy.

I thought of something else... have you ever heard of G-Diapers? They are a semi-disposable diapering system that used cloth pants with a rubber liner that you stuff absorbent pads into. You can check out the system at their website here: http://www.gdiapers.com/

Anyway, you could just buy a package of liners (without the pants), and put them inside her diapers. I would be willing to bet that this will solve your problems. In the morning, you rip open the g-diaper liner and flush the contents in your toilet. You could also compost them. I suppose you could trash them, too, if you wanted to.

Cheers!

It doesn't matter how old she is, only her weight and whether or not the diapers work. (My youngest was in a size three by about 3-1/2 months!) Do they fit her? Are they snug, but not too tight? Try going a size up or down and see how it goes. You can also try a different brand - we have always been pleased with the store brands by Target (Up) and WalMart (Parent's Choice). I don't know that I would decrease feedings before bed. She is still awfully little to be messing around with her feedings, especially if you are breast feeding. Many babies feed more than normal right before bed so that they are able to get through the night. You may find that she starts waking more often if you cut that back. It also may affect your milk supply, if you are nursing. You could also try double diapering. If all else fails, you could put her in a fleece sleeper (will hold most of the moisture inside, so it doesn't get on the sheets) and a sheet protector.

My second daughter went through this when she was a toddler. Nothing we did helped, and after a couple months, she grew out of it. Just remind yourself - like most things with our kids, whether or not we find a solution, they will eventually grow out of it!

I had the same problem with my son then I decided to decrease his bottle before bed (4oz rather than 7oz) and I went up a size in overnight diapers---make sure they are snug. He wears a size 4 during the day but a 5 in overnighters... Works for me! Good luck!!

Most kids won't wake up from a deep sleep while you are changing if you just have a top and diaper...no pants. The wiggling if My youngest is 3 and I still have to change her during the night. Used to be 3 times a night but I've tried a few things. Double wrap...put a reg. diaper inside the overnight ...Good luck!

Maybe try a different brand of diapers and also put a lining in the diaper to help with the wetness. I don't know if you can still get them, but plastic pants over the diaper might help to keep the rest of her dry at night. If you can limit her liquid intake before bedtime that may help too.

I think my little guy was only in size 2's at that point but it all depends on how big they are. How much does she weigh?
