My neighbors play really loud music til like 9 or 10 at night and you can hear it in my baby's room. I'm wondering how much it will affect her since she's growing up hearing it and if anyone has any suggestions on how to minimize how much she hears?

Unless it's really loud I wouldn't worry about it!  It might actually be a good thing because she will then be able to fall asleep when there's noise around and you won't have to tip toe around her room or shut down everything when she's asleep!  When my son was a few months old we lived by a Church that had loud wedding receptions on weekends, and his room faced it.  The music never bothered him!

Amanda,

Affect her in what manner???  If any thing it will cause her to be a heavy sleeper...I'm not sure what your fear is but relax they are resilient.

both my boys listened to baby beetohoven at night, it helps drown out sound from outside the room and is good for their developing little brain

It sounds more like YOU are annoyed that you can hear THEIR music in the baby's room. And I don't blame you... I'd be totally p.o.'ed! Tell the neighbors to turn it down; use the baby as your reason if you need to !

my neighbors were the same way, there were the ones in the townhouse right next to us, and ones across the basketball court. the ones right next to us moved in about 4 months after we did....they had a child probably 6-8 months older then my son. when they would play their music loud....this was like 9 pm and later, i had NO PROBLEM going next door and asking them to turn it down. within the first week of them being there, i was knocking on their door everynight. usually 2 or 3 times, told them that if they woke up my son, they would be babysitting. it kept on until i moved out a month ago....i would just pound on their wall until they turned it down....with the people across the basketball court, they were entirely too loud, i had to call the coronado pd on them a couple times. my son sleeps like a rock but i think that if your neighbors know you have a young child, they should at least have the curtosy to keep their noise level down.

I would check with my local law department, Your neighbor maybe voilating a noise ordenance by playing load music after 9p.m.

On how the music will affect your child, it depends on the type of music it is, but if i was you I would confront my neighbor an ask that they keep the music down since you have a baby that needs rest.
