The past few months my 3 yr old has been seein something or someone in his room at night after I tuck him in. We have tried everything from adding more light to placing a camera in there to see what we see and hear. We have only seen him do unusual things like get outta bed suddenly and take a few steps and look up towards the ceiling and heard him playing with and talkin to who or whatever it may be. We did capture audio of a deep voice making a noise and right after my son started laughing. He went from playing with it to being scared of it in a matter of a night. I dont know what to do for him or how to make it go away. If you believe this stuff is real can you help and if you dont, this is NOT something I would or could make up. It's affecting my sons sleep he goes to bed at all different hours of the night. I am desperate!

Do you believe in God Barbi?Pray with you baby before sending him to his room, pray with him while he is in bed and ask the Lord Jesus to protect him, keep him safe and give him peace.Send the spirit away with faith and prayer because it's not meant to be there and it has no good intentions for your son nor your family. There is alot of power in prayer.Teach your son to pray too and make it a daily routine and part of your lives.Obviously a spirit is not bound by physical aspects of this world, whether it be location or brick walls.moving does not solve the problem nor burning ornaments or other rituals.the only protection that you can depend on or rely on is from the blood of Jesus. He is right there just waiting for you to call on Him and His power. Rid your son and your family of it because there is no need to tolerate it...God Bless you and your family.

Barbi, do you believe in the power of prayer? if yes then pray with your three year old. i think he/she could learn how to pray to God, i remember those days when we were very tender our mother would kneel withbeside our bed and pray with us, and also taught us to pray. you should do the same with your baby. Let God take charge of it and as it is try slepping with the baby for now. all the best

Any spirit that frightens a child is a spirit of the devil. I would pray and ask God to cast out all evil spirits in the house and command that the spirit leave.

Yes I believe so go into his room when you put him to bed and tell them that they need to go into the light and thats where they need to be they are not here anymore, if they look they can see people they know and need to touch their hands, let me know if he continue to see the spirits. Joyce

I had this experience at almost 3 years old. I believe it was real, and I was terrified. I was very sick, and near death. My parents prayed....and prayed...and prayed! It went away, but I saw a few things at an older age. My recommendation...PRAY. God is far stronger than the evil one.

check out TAPS website.....if you're in the States they may be able to come and help you out (they're very protective of anything involving children).....from the very little bit i understand about it - spirits ca be sometimes misunderstood......it's your space and by just living in it you can force them to move on. But if you son is scared I would definitely check out TAPS - see if there's an associate in your area and have them do the determination of if there's anything there or not.

Try moving him to another room to see if that helps. I do believe that some people have the gift of seeing spirits, but I'm sure at 3 years old, it would be very confusing and scary for him.

I would say, begin a relationship with Jesus Christ and pray to him, and he will guide you. Purchase a Bible and read the Gospel of John. Visit a Church where thay teach the Word of God and talk to the Pastor.

My children saw spirits when they were small and since we are Christians we would use the word of God (read out loud) and play worship music. Anything that has to do with God will definitely drive it or them away but you must believe. You need to pray out loud over your home and your family.

Hello Barbi Fry,

My adult kids are all grown now, but when they were little i use to wonder what the were looking at, because, they would ,somethimes, act as if someone was walking with us and according to their reaction, it would seam as if whatever they were seing was OK with me and i would turn and no one was there. But, i was ones told that children see angels and that these angels protected them when no one else was around.

Prayer, always help, even in a small child. God understands and hears.

< I would teach the child to pray and tell him or her about Jesus.

< I would ask the child to tell me who is he or she talking to?

< I would ask the child to tell me what this other person or thing looks likes and what are they talking about?

< And, also, ask the child, is he or she afraid? Ash him or her to call you when it chose up?

For starters. Call someone who can be there with you to observe the child reaction to it all.

Hope it helps.

I agree with some of the other people if he is scared of the ghost I would definitely move him out of there. That's scary. I would also pray and bring a pastor in and ask him his opinion.

I think just about everyone here has the right idea...the sage, the rebuking, the annointing...etc. but I still believe this is something that should be handled by professionals. Look for professional paranormal experts. TAPS aka Ghost Hunters and Paranormal State based at Penn State university are both good sources to start with. Both are very concerned and compassionate when children are involved.

Hi !!! First, I want to tell you I am from Brazil and there (like most people say) : We are Catholic- spirituals. Somehow since I grow up I saw and learned about many things that in our real world may sound strange or unusual...

One of the things I can tell you for sure is that: pets and little kids are very sensitive to those "energy" and can really see or hear spirits.

a few questions you should think about is : How long do you live in that house?? Do you know who lived there before you?? Do you know if there is a relative that died not a long time ago?? Did you tried to let the baby sleep with you to see if the problem is in his bedroom when he's alone??

Maybe the answer is in one of those questions and you'll find the better way to "fix" the problem :)

I have dealt with this before and you have to pray and rebuke the spirits in the NAME OF JESUS. . . anoint his room and your house with oil open a bible in his room your home needs prayer if you go to church talk to your pastor and have them come to your house and pray over it. . . . also I would be praying over each and everyone in the home.

Children are mediumistic, and this spirit is trying to communicate with your son. Perhaps spend the night with your son, and while there talk to the spirit yourself. Tell the spirit that your son is afraid and ask them to move toward the light. Tell the spirit to ask some celestial beings to help him and give him the information he is looking for. When this spirit understands, and does this, your son wont be troubled by this particular spirit again. Your son has a gift, and so he may attract other spirits looking for help and so you will have to tell any other spirits to move toward the light and ask for divine love also. I hope this helps. Prayer is wonderful too.

Ask him to draw a picture what he sees. It might surprise you. If you do decide to contact a medium be very careful, there are a lot of fakes out there. When I was a child I had nightmares every night and heard voices until I was old enough to learn how to write. After that I was able to sleep much better. He might be a very creative child. And, yes, I do believe there is more in our world than we relize.

[deleted account]

I agree with the other posts that suggest sleeping in his room also. My thought is how do You feel in his room....are you anxious, scared, or not any particular bad feeling. Remember your instincts should always be your parenting guide. Go in his room with a calm, secure feeling...do you feel scared or safe? Children, often, are more aware of these things. After spending a few nights and analyzing daytime feelings in his room...if you don't experience anything negative, ask him questions about what he sees...could it be a family (deceased, of course) member? He starts out happy in his interaction with "It" and then gets upset....try asking him why he gets scared. He really is the best judge of whats going on! Hope this might help...

Take some sage to his room (buy a bundle of dried sage and burn it, wafting the smoke around his room), making sure to pay extra attention to the corners and the ceiling. It won't flame, just smoke, and it should clear any "negative" energy from his room. It will leave any positive or protective energies behind to protect your son. Make sure the room is clean first, as well. If you want an activity for him to participate in so that he feels like he is re-taking control of the situation, try making a dream pillow for/with him. You can find easy instructions online using a Google search. They're fun for the kids, easy to make, and it gives the kids a sense of control over something that they might otherwise feel powerless to deal with. Best of luck!

Hi Barbi,

Please take a look at my website, www.vibrationalchild.com, I may be able to help you. If you'd like, go ahead and schedule a free 15 minute consult, I'd love to talk with you. The main thing from my perspective is don't make him wrong or worry, it's probably just fine and is most likely very real. It could be he is scared because you are scared. There are some very special kids being born these days whose gifts extend beyond the "norm" for most people. I am not a ghost specialist by any means, but I might be able to hook you up with someone who is if my skills are not right for you or for him. OK?

I'm glad you posted! AND it's normal for these kids to not sleep as much or have weird sleep patterns, some of my clients also have this and I know it is frustrating for you, but my guess is he's OK with less sleep. We'll see though, I'd need to talk with you to really assess.

One tip in the meantime is to call for Archangel Michael, is a protector of us all, and especially children. Just say that name three times, honestly, it will work even if you can't perceive it, and ask him to be with your son at night.

Good luck, I hope to speak with you.

Peace,

Nancy

Hi Barbi, I have read over several of the replies to your question and I see so many people who care about you and your little one. I have had similar problems as this myself when I was young. Now I am 56. I'm still not sure what is the cause of the problem, but it is a problem in your case because of it disturbing your little boy. The first and final thing I did was similar to pray to God, but a little more direct- I announced to the spirits that I only have room in my life for one spirit, the Holy Spirit, I do not have room for any other spirits. I did that a long time ago and once in awhile I do it again if I feel a little uncomfortable. God is the answer for spirits; He knows exactly what each one needs and loves each one.

One idea I would like to mention is this. Often people who experience spiritual things have been through a trauma, like sexual abuse. I am not saying this is the case, but be brave and keep your eyes and heart open to the possibility. The kind of thing can happen in a child's own home; it takes a brave mama to be willing to see it and do something about it. I hope this is not true in your case.

I will pray for you, too. I write to you from love in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

I do believe you, my daughter who is 18 now and who is handicapped, has always seen and interacted with spirits. I would call the entities here, either 'passed" family members or angels watching over her. She has always visited with our family members. I know this because she has called them by name and described them in detail (without ever having seen any photos of them). children have an innocent nature causing them to not question things like this and are open to the "otherworld". God is greater than anything that is here and I would not worry if he has no fear, however, if he IS afraid, don't leave him in there alone. Don't ever doubt him when he tells you he sees someone! He isn't making it up! Pray, pray, pray! And (without his presence), gather a few people together either in his room or somewhere in your home and pray the spirit to the light. Blessings!

It sounds as if someone has sent a familiar spirit to your son. Have you ever been into the occult of any kind, played with ouigi boards, Tarot cards, Kabballa, etc? If you have been playing with any of these things or know someone who has it could cause it. It's best to renounce these things as well as tell the spirit to leave. If you continue to "play" with the occult "they" won't leave. I would ask Jesus Christ into my life and ask him to show me what to do and in the mean time I would demand the spirit leave my home and command it to stay away from my child in the name of Jesus. This will not work if you still have any ties to the occult. God bless you and your child....

I do believe that children can spirits - i have just finished reading a book called Psychic Children by Sylvia Browne who believes that all children are psychic because they have close ties with the spirits from heaven ( where they have just come from) whether you believe or not she encourages you to talk to your child and ask questions and let them know the spirits are not there to hurt them and if they are scaring them tell your child to tell the spirit. All sounds far fetched but in her book there are many many examples of similar events to yours. She suggests not to move rooms or tell them there is noone as this may cause the confusion and the feeling of being scared because you are taking them away from it.

An interesting read if you can find the book but something i think you should not be worried about.

When I was 3 years old I would wake up and see my sisters dolls talking to each other. I believe some children are more sensative to the spiritual world. I am not refering to ghosts, but the Angels good and bad all around us. The Bible tells us that peoples souls are absent from the body, present with the Lord. I would sit and Pray with your child each night. You can speak out loud and say, "In the name of Jesus I command all fallen angels to leave. Read some verses out loud to your child too. Remember that Fallen angels, demons, can't stay where the name of Jesus is spoken.

Get some olive oil, and annoint your son, and the room with it. Door, windows, wall,

The entire room. Say a prayer aloud, and ask for the protection of the Holy Sprirt

And plead the Blood of Jesus over your son. This will work!

Have the whole family go in and tell the spirit to leave him alone! Tell the spirit sternly, that he doesn't want to play with him and it needs to leave the house! A smudge stick, which is usually made from sage works as well. It wards off negative energy and/or spirits in and around a house. There are certain crystals as well that you can place under the bed to help ensure rest and good dreams, I'm not sure exactly which ones they are though. If you have a mystical shop in your town they could let you know. Then just explain to your son that, the spirit can't and won't hurt him, that its nothing to be frightened of.

Apparently a spirit can only be somewhere if they are welcome.. you may feel extremely stupid but when he wakes in the night and you go in there... just say out loud ' whatever or who ever is in this room, you are not welcome here and you have to leave now'

I do believe in this stuff but at the same time it is unbelieveble... My boy was having trouble sleeping and a spirit was my last option to be the reason for it so i tried talking to it and saying what i've said to you... he's slept fine ever since.

Another option that's also been sugested to me was change the bedroom around.

Honestly, I think you should move. There are such things as polterguists, and I do believe demons and ghosts. I don't believe all ghosts are bad, but obviously your child is affraid. I have heard of things like this happening before and actual injuries happening to young children and even adults. Do not name whatever is in your home, but do not ignore it either.

I would say for the safety of your child and quiet possible you and your husband moving is the best thing to do. If it follows you, which I've also heard happening, this thing, whatever it is has attached itself to your son. Seek paranormal expertise.

Good luck.

Have you had a loved one die recently that may have been close to your child? Reason I ask is that my father passed away when my daughter was 2 and she was a very early talker, one night when I was on the phone she came running in scared and said there was a man in her room. There of course was none, her blinds on the windows were drawn and no one else was in the house. I KNOW in my heart it was my Dad because she was his eyeball. Being a believer in the spirit world, I asked that he not come to visit her anymore because it frightened her and I did this out loud speaking as if he were here. I also told her that the "man" was not here to hurt her but to only check on her. BTW, the ironic thing about this was when I asked her did he have a name she replied "Crow", well that was a nickname he had as a child because of his soot black hair....there was NO way for her to have known that. After I asked him not to do this anymore it never happened again.

Now I believe that children are closer to the spirit world because they have not been taught differently as they are later in the church and from adult beliefs. They are pure and open to that realm, whereas we are not. If you want to, this is an old INDIAN remedy to cleanse the house and room but I promise it does work. Buy you a sage stick ( you can find one at health food stores), and sage your house. start at the center of the room as it is burning and go to all four corners while asking that all spirits leave and go on to their resting place, in the name of Jesus Christ. Ask for good vibrations and blessings to abound in your home and you may find more on the subject by googling native american remedies for ridding of spirits or look up saging a house. I know that all of this sounds almost rediculous but we do not know what takes place after physical death and some spirits do get trapped in between here and the resting place. I hope that this does help you and would love to know how it turns out....my email is clangston4@sc.rr.com if you would like to write to me, you may be sent to my spam folder so please include your reason for writing. I have done lots of reading on native americans and their beliefs .....and what you are speaking of is REAL.....look to hear from you...Good luck, I think you will find relief if you do as I have suggested....and BTW don't let your child know that you are alarmed by any of this as it will cause him more stress. God bless you......Cheryl

most likely the spirit in your son's room is harmless. i have had several similar experiences with my children. when my grandfather died he came to both of my childre, but mostly my daughter. she said that she would see him rocking in her chair. she described what he was wearing when he died....there was no way that she could have known because she wasn't allowed in his hospice room because she ws too young. when my brother-in-law died a few years ago, we didn't tell our kids right away. my sister-in-law wanted to be the one to tell them. my son was 6 at the time. a few hours after his death, i heard my son talking to someone in his room. he kept saying. "but why do you have to go? i don't understand. where are you going? ok. i'll miss you too. i love you too." i asked him who he was talking to. he said,"uncle bill. he said he had to leave. where is he going mommy?" both of my kids have also reported seeing a large man with "funny clothes" and long black hair with feathers sticking out in their rooms. they also reported hearing drums inthe attic. during this time i witnessed my daughter's rocking chair rocking at a steady pace without slowing down. nobody was in it. my dog would often bark loudly and visciously at a spot in the house. my husband and i both heard heavy footsteps in the attic one nite. 2 different psychics who have no connection told me that they sensed a native american spirit dwelling in our house. neither had been to our house or knew where we live. they both described an important native american waterway close to my home. i looked into my area after that and found that it was indeed populated heavily with native americans. a few things you can do is smudge the room with sage. spirits don't usually like sage. you can also directly talk to the spirit. tell them that they are scaring you son. if they really mean no harm, they will stop showing themself to your son. chances are it is only your son's spirit guide. if things don't get better, look into local psychics and mediums. i don't know where you live so i can't reccommend anyone to you.

[deleted account]

I think maybe you could call a psychic that could tell you what kind of spirit it is if even a spirit. Then you can plan your steps from there. Your son maybe a psychic as well but doesn't understand yet. I wouldn't move because sometimes its not the house but the person itself. But I wouldn't want to anger it either because you don't know what it is yet and how it would act.

Yes, Spirit are very real . I am a believer in our Lord Jesus Christ and have for a many years. If you have a BIBLE here are two verse you can stand on. If you don't I would be glad to send you one. Above all you would need two or more strong faith believer who can come an anoint your home and stand firm against the devils schemes. 2 Corinthians 10-(2-5) and Ephesians 6-(10-17). I would also watch it on burning Sage, it's a native American and some people can be allergic to the smell. I know I am one of them it sends me in an asthma attack. I hope this can be of help. Prayer does work I am a firm believer in it, but their is time when you need help from a doctor to. Will in this case a firm believer who can bless your home. Jesus is our mediator and he can case out the devil and his angels or demon. I know some people will disagree and that is ok. You will need to do what your heart said for you and your child. I will hold you up in prayer always. Their is one God his son Jesus and the Holy Spirit. I will be glad to answer any more question you have.

in my last house when my daughter was about one and a half she went into her own bed and loved it for a few nights.i had baby monitors and the started to go off and we heard very odd nosies.

my daughter then started to wake up screaming or while awake would not go into her own room.she came back into my room and stayed till she was 3-4 years and went to her own bed in the new house.also that room she had was always cold don't no why it was newly built home.take your son out of the room.

Also while in the house while i would wash up at the sink i would feel like someone would just come up and stand beside me.the house was freaky but i didn't look into it or made anything of it. i saw my granny who died when i was very young, when i was 16 and i saw her again in that house when i had my baby she was at the end of her cot.(i was very calm when i saw her)which i was quite suprised.so i just told myself it was her and i wasn't scared but i didn't let my daughter sleep in the other room once it was upsetting her.She was to small to be able to teach not to be scared of this.

Hope you can sort it out maybe google Lisa williams she those a show about talking to the dead and spirits etc in homes there might be something on her site to help your family.

There are both good spirits and bad. Your son may be scared because it isn't something that he is used to, or he feels that the spirit has changed in some way. Moving him out of that room may not be enough, there isn't anything that ties a spirit to one particular room. The reason it is a showing itself to your son is because children are more perceptive than adults in almost any nature. They are open minded and not set in their ways yet, anything new or creative intrigues them. If you really believe that this is an evil presence then try "smudging" your house with sage.. you burn sage and you walk through out your house, make sure to get in the corners and cabinets and visualize all the bad leaving your house.. Also take a broom and sweep your entire house while visualizing that you are sweeping the bad out of the house. place crystals in your window sills and salt at every entrance and corner.. it doesn't have to be a large amount of salt but salt is known as a spiritual cleansing agent. More than anything, BELIEVE that it will work.. Belief is what makes anything in this world work.. No matter what your religion, or stance on things in life, nothing happens without belief. I hope that things begin to get better for you and that your son is able to deal with this spirit better.

I'm very much a believer. Our family has experienced this both at our old house and recently at our new house. If you ever heard of or watched Sylvia Brown she would say "Talk to the spirit and asked them to move on, there was nothing else here for them." We did this and we. It took talking and asking them to move on several times. It worked for us. In our new house we were told if you burn sage it would wourd off any negative energy. It took doing this several times. No problems since. Give it a try, pray is also sure to work.

I know what you are going through, my son often plays with a spirit in our apartment and then there is one that hangs out in his room that scares the daylights out of him. One thing that I can say which might look stupid to your son when you do it is go into his room and address the spirit letting them know that they are no longer welcome and they need to leave your son alone as well as leave your home. You could also try burning dry sage throughout the house when your son isn't home and just let the spirit know they are no longer welcome in the house, they are dead and they need to move on. I still have a couple in my apartment that like to hang out and play with my son but the one that used tgo scare him is now gone because I confronted him. Good luck, if you need more advice let me know, just email me at kimberlyisberg@yahoo.com

another thought Barbi,

I strongly advise not to communicate with such spirits. The sould of person only goes to Heaven, Purgatory or Hell. The spirits that manifest itself usually are diabolic and want to cause confusion and create delusions. Strongly seek a person who is trained (Catholic Priest, Pastor, etc) in these things to do what is really needed because these things always seek to enter someone.

Hi Barbi,

this is a difficult situation. I am familiar with this myself. The important thing to realize is that you should understand the nature of this "spirit." Is is good or evil? In my case, they have always been negative. You will need to pray over the room. Some people put crucifixes and bless the room with holy water. I am not sure if you believe in Christ however, you will need to His help with these sort of things - they always get worse.

with much love,

Logetty

Barbi, you've caught an EVP (the voice you recorded). I agree that you should try sleeping in the room, but is it possible to do it w/o your son? Pray. Bring in a paranormal research team and/or consult your pastor. Do a cleansing by burning a smudge stick made of bundled sage and also burn a white, unscented candle. Take back the power. It is your house and your son by telling the "energy" to leave and not return. After doing this, if you feel a positive shift in the energy of your home, sprinkle sea salt around the outside foundation of the dwelling. Continue to pray. I've been doing paranormal research for many years. This is where I would start if you are uncomfortable with what is going on.

I believe you! When we moved to our current 100 year old house 11 years ago my 8 year old and I both were aware of another "presence" here. Difference was, I just had a "creepy" feeling but she could see a little boy's face clearly at the window - always the window in my room which is on the other side of the house to hers. It didn't worry her at all, she was more fascinated with it than afraid. I have a very strong faith, and so one day when she wasn't in the house (and without telling her) I walked through the house saying out loud "In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth you are not welcome here". That was it!! She stopped talking about him and I stopped being aware of whatever it was. I asked her about it a few months later and she told me she hadn't seen him, She has never talked about it since. I know this story makes me sound like a loony but I'm not and its true! I've never done something like it before or since. So DON'T give this thing any credibility or house room and TAKE CONTROL!!! Good luck!

My son went through a very similiar experience...and I got firm with the "energy" and asked it to help my son feel more comfortable in HIS space! It is important that whatever is causing this, knows that this is YOUR house/space and that YOU are in charge. We moved away from the house for four years, and we moved back just recently. Before we did, a group of ghost investigators and psychics confirmed four spirits in our house. We sent one on his way, and the other three seem grateful and more relaxed because of it. The house seems a lot more light and airy. I feel more protected that scared and my son loves hanging out in his old room! Good luck!

Call or e-mail TAPS, the Ghost Hunters from SyFy. This is their specialty. If this is something real, then a paranormal investigator could prove or "de-bunk" what is happening.

Perhaps your child has a sleepwalking problem and is kind of acting out his dreams. Assure him that its not real, and that you are always nearby. My daughter had a bad dream about a spider last summer, and its still affecting her. She has to have somoeone sit with her while she falls asleep.

Maybe you should move your child to a different room to see if that helps.
