Thanks to everyone. I did not think it was much to worry about but my first one never had this problem so I guess I just needed to know that it does happen with some kids.

My son is two, but when he was cutting his eye teeth, he had about two weeks worth of loose stools. There was really nothing I could do about it... I tried "stool-firming" foods, but in the end, pretty much had to wait it out. The one problem with the loose stools though (aside from being a total mess) was that they were more acidic than his normal stools, and caused diaper rash, including one open sore. I'm a nurse, and at the hospital I work at, we use Silicone barrier cream on patients with compromised skin integrity (prone to skin breakdown because of being incontinent). I bought some at the drugstore, and his sore healed up within days! The Aveeno Baby bath pouches helped too.

Yes, My first child would have loose diapers for a couple days before a tooth would erupt. It was never for two week though. My second child never did. Most pediatricians will say that loose diapers and low grade fevers are not caused be teething however I think most moms will say otherwise. If he isn't acting sick it could also be just a mild stomach virus that will have to work itself out.

I am a mother of 2 girls, almost 3, and 5 months. My first did not have that problem. But my 2nd is cutting her first teeth, and she has runny ones. I would do the same as Trisha, give him the BRAT diet. (bannanas, rice, apples, can't remember what T stands for)

I am the mother of 3 boys, 21, 19 &10. All of them ran a fever and had loose bowel movements whenever they cut teeth.

Both my kids did that with teeth. I cut out apple juice altogether and gave them more constipating foods like bananas etc. It helped minimally. As long as they stayed hydrated, I didn't worry much. It's a mess though!
