its fine you will need to do it gradually though. half water half cows milk for a few days. make sure he does not have any reactions or constipation etc. anywhere between 9-12 months is perfect age to switch

It is recommended that you keep your baby on breastmilk, infant formula or follow-on formula for his first year. Once your baby has reached his first birthday, you can, if you want, start to give his full-fat cow's milk

It is important to wait until your baby is one year old, as cow's milk doesn't contain sufficient iron to recommend its use before then, although small amounts of cow's milk can be used in cooking from six months. Infant formula milks and follow-on milks contain more iron and vitamins than cow's milk, and are the only alternative to breastfeeding for the first year.

Cows milk also contains far to many proteins for a young digestive system to break down and when given to early can cause allergies .

When it is time to give milk , Full-fat or whole cow's milk is essential for your baby because he needs the energy that the fat in milk provides. Fat also carries essential vitamins A and D, so by skimming the fat off the milk, the vitamins are reduced, too. You should give your baby full-fat milk until he is at least two years old.

I think it depends on what your child is eating nutritionally. My friends little girl was on cows milk early but formular wasent enough and se was on finger food from three months. She was obviously an advanced baby. However she became lactose intolerant. She's now three and grew out of her alergy. I think the best way to go is to voice your conserns to your midwife or doctor. Then make up your own mind you know your child best.

I'd just switch to stage 2 formula before I switched to milk. But that's me and my family.

As others have posted, milk is not generally recommended until 1 year. He is most likely not drinking as much because he is actually eating baby food now. I'd ask your son's doctor before doing anything just to be sure.

we give my 5 month old milk mixed with water (which is what they gave in the days that formula didn't exist). I actually run a dairy farm so each night i take milk from the same cow, boil it and mix up the bottles for the next day 3 parts milk 1 part water

Your Doctor has a test that will tell if your baby is able to digest milk..My niece is getting tested in a month.. shell be a year old. Formula shouldnt be the babys main food source anymore anyways..so even if hes not drinking it as much itys prolly not the formula but the fact that hes eating food now.

Most reputable pediatricians will put your baby on a schedule of how to introduce foods, such as cereals, fruits, vegetables, meats, milk and eggs. They do this to make sure that your baby does not have allergice reactions to the foods listed above. You introduce them and then observe for reactions. Milk is not recommended until 1 year. Some pediatricians will even have you start 1part whole milk to 3 parts formula. You can increase the parts milk weekly as long as you see no reaction. If your baby had problems with formula and had to be changed to a different formula many times, it would be best to consult with your pediatrician before making any changes.

I'd have to say ask your doctor to see what they have to say. I got permission from our doctor to start my son on whole milk when he was only 6 months. We didn't start till he was 8 months. And we gave him a daily vitamin. I would suggest though switching all the way to whole milk, not just at night.
