My son is 8m and doesn't like the play pen or walker,what do I do?

This really worked well.....put your son in a baby carrier; then he is with you while you can still get work done and you get extra exercise. We used to do this on the treadmill too or working outside in the yard.

when my son was an 8mth old, he was very independent and didn't like the play pen either. So I think that investing in a baby fence would be the logical solution. He sees you being mobile and then he's confined so you can kill two birds with one stone fence him in the safest area in your home and you can still do the things that you need to do!

Thanks for all the advice. Legend can't walk yet but he is really trying,ever since he could move with some control hes been full steam ahead. I just want him to be satisfied so I could get something done. I guess I need to invest in a baby gate.

My son was the same way! I'm assuming this is problematic because you are trying to get something done that would keep you from paying attention to what he's doing completely? We got our son a jumperoo and he LOVED it! It was the only thing that he would stay in, other then his swing but at that age was moving around too much to stay in there. I think it was great because he could still be crazy active and was safe by himself!!!

My daughter never played in her playpen. We just used it as a portable bed when we were sleeping away from home. Just childproof your livingroom and let him go on the floor to play.

my son,caden, never like his walker either. so i simply would not put him in it. as for the play pen the only time he used that is when he spent the night at his grandparents house. caden learned to walk by push toys and now he is a pro!! good luck!!

that is perfectly normal for a child his age. my son is 7 months & doesn't like to be in his playpen either (he used to love it 2 months ago, but not anymore). the reason being is that he feels confined -- he is now mobile & wants to go and explore the house & not be confined to something small. get a few baby gates/baby fence to close off the room/section of the room where u want him to stay & make sure that either you're there with him & constantly keeping an eye on him or that the room is fully baby-proofed where he can't hurt himself or get into anything that he shouldn't. either way, you'll have to keep a close eye on him but at least you'll be able to go to the bathroom/ go warm something up/rinse off the dish without worrying that he is doing something he shouldn't or screaming at the top of his lungs

My son is the same way. I don't have a solution for you other than to just hang in there. When i'm having to be in the kitchen cleaning i just put my son on the floor with some big plastic bowls, toys to play. I am able to keep a close eye on him because i have a baby gate in the doorway of my kitchen to keep him in with me. He really likes that.

Sounds just like my son:) Does your son walk yet? My son liked to crawl around and go and when you was in the walker he felt he couldnt move anywhere and get mad so I put the gates that are plastic so he couldn't climb up on and let him go. when he started walking at 9mth he didn't mind the walker due to he could move it around. but since he started walking better he is always on the run and does not like to sit except in the carseat which is not long and the highchair and when he is done he wants to get down and go. He is a mover and doesn't like to sit still. To me it just wears him out for when he has to go to sleep. He has alot of energy, but as long as he is happy so am I:) Good luck!

Try a portable play area It can be put into many different shapes, or can close off an area

This sounds a bit strange, but have you tried getting in the playpen with him? Works wonders.
