What are NAPPIES?? Sorry i must be way out of the loop! ;)
I am not sure if it just an Australian thing or not, but we call diapers Nappies. Whether they be cloth or disposable.
No us British call diapers nappies too lol
In regards to your question, I too am confused as to what could be dangerous with a toddler wearing nappies, it's what they are designed for! As everyone else has said each child is different and is ready at different ages your child WILL let you know when they are ready, my eldest 2 we're out of nappies before they were 2 and a half and dry day and night by 3, yet I know people who's children are hitting 4 and still in nappies at night, just as adults are different so are kids. Just enjoy them, and take each piece of advice with a pinch of salt!

Dangerous? I don't know of a reason that diapers would be considered dangerous for and age toddler. I don't think they are any different that pull ups. They just go on a different way. My daughter was a month away from turning 3 and it took 3 days to get her potty trained during the day. Starting earlier is just frustrating for you. Good luck!

I have two children and am also a nurse who works with mother and children. It is not uncommon for children to not get all of the potty training completed until 3 years old or older. It is not dangerous at all. Remember that all children are different and therefore they will do things at different times when their little bodies are ready.

I have 2 boys long past diaper stage, please don't push them, they are going to get out of diapers when they are ready. I started potty training I think 2 1/2 years old but they didn't have it completely til over 3. My suggestion is get a ton of cloth undies for potty training and 5-8 rubber pants and explain this is for big boys and when he has accidents and he will don't get upset, take the undies off and get a new pair on and explain to try harder the next time but it's ok. Once you get to the end of the day do a load of rinsed out dirty undies and start again the next day. The point of the cloth undies is they actually feel the wetness which they won't like and they will want to stay dry. With the pull ups they won't feel the wetness they are made to pull the wetness away from the skin. Just don't leave them in the wet clothes. It sounds like you will be doing this for ever, but it will happen and you will look back and realize itreally wasn't al all... Enjoy this stage and every stage because you all are growing ...

It is not dangerous at all. My son wore diapers until he was 3 & then we just stopped buying them. He is now 6 & he still sometimes poos in his pants so DO NOT take him out of diapers until HE is ready.

None of my 3 children potty trained until just before their 3rd birthday. I wouldn't stress over it. Ask him each morning with he wants... one day he will surprise you and ask for the big boy pants and trust me, waiting until he is ready has big benefits. You will have way less "accidents" then those who try to potty train too early.

the main problem with wearing nappies is the heat generated by the materials in the nappy, i am sure google will turn up some results if you should look. using washable nappies is an alternative and also he will feel the effects of weeing in his nappy. is that maybe an option for you?

I have 3 boys. My oldest was potty trained just beofre his 3rd birthday my second was 2 1/2 and my youngest is 2 1/3 and is no were near ready. All i can say is each child is diffrent if it takes more that two weeks then you litttle boy isn't ready. it all comes down to there cognative development. a light switch will flick on and he'll will just do it. My brother didn't potty train untill he was 4 and i have friends little boys who were between 3 -4. Don't stress it. some times i wish my middle child was still in nappies. If i have a doller for everytime i have to leave my shopping in the supermarket to take him to the toilet i would be a rich women.

My son was 3 when he stopped wearing nappies, I found that the more I pushed him the harder it was. So I just backed off and he decided himself when the time was right. He has only decided in the last month that he doesn't want night time nappies, he has had a few accidents but that is ok, I am really proud of him and he is proud of himself which has given him much needed confidence.

i have 4 kids and out of the 3 that are past that, they were all different. i used the same tech... the summer closest to when they were around 2 years old I did the no pants thing at home and a potty on hand at all times to 'catch'. they let u know if they r ready or not. boys have been known to take longer.
