My toddler doesn't want to go to school. What do I do?

Kei is 2 and 8 months old and has just recently started refusing to go to his school. When I ask him if he likes school he says yes, but when we arrive at the school, he refuses to go in. Is this just a phase or should I be worried about something happening at school?

It can be a phase. Or there may have been some sort of change at school that has Kei upset. Have any of his friends recently moved out of the class? I know our kids were always a little upset when their older classmates moved up to the next aged class while they had to stay behind for a few more months. Talk to the teachers and see if they have any ideas. If nothing has actually changed at school, it could just be that he doesn't want to say goodbye. Ask the teacher to note how long it takes before he settles down after you leave.

Talk to the teachers and find out if their has been a change in his behavior, or if anything has been going on. Sometimes kids lay on the drama when momma's drop them off. We feed into it without even knowing it sometimes, and that makes them see a reaction...making them do it every time. Try to look at your own behavior when dropping him off,,....but definitely talk to the teachers.

This is most likely a phase he is going through but, talk to the teacher. Find out if he is having a problem with another toddler or maybe the teacher.

It could be another child their that is making it hard for him, and bringing your concern to the teachers about his behavior may alert them to something they hadn't already noticed.

Don't get yourself worked up until you start investigating.
