Also you could try to get an insert for the toilet instead of the small potty chair. Our son seemed to like that much more. Plus it’s one less transition to worry about later.

You can't make him....he has to want to himself. Maybe he's not ready to be potty trained. Personally I would stop trying to make him go and try again in a few weeks. Maybe the pressure is making him resistant to the idea. Good luck!
