Help I am trying to find a way to keep my 5yr old daughter from biting her nails. She has two of them red and swollen, Have to take her to the doctor. Have tried explaining how unsanitary it is. Have tried the reward system. I have also tried doing manicures and pedicures. When her teacher brought it up, I sent emery boards to school, they are in every room of the house and in the car. HELP

Im a cosmetologist, and i learned about nails too, i have learned about stomach fungus that has grown because of the nail biting. No matter how clean you keep your kids, they can still find a way to get dirt under there. So you really dont want that to happen!! The cream that you can buy is expensive but worth it, she might hate it so much that you wont have to use all of it. And if she starts biting again, that you could just get it out and and warn her with the cream. Hope it helps

thanks, I asked the pharmacist and he said they did not sell it anymore. Right now, I have her two index fingers coated in Neosporin, wrapped in gauze and taped. I found some stuff online and may have to break down and order it but it is exspensive
