All i can say is you Lucky lucky mother, i've had four children and not one of them were good sleepers, not until they started school did they decide to sleep in, i wouldn't be concerned, make the most of it.

Hi there!

I only have one answer: ARE YOU KIDDING????????????

My son is now a bit more than 9 years old and I have to tell you that I still can't forget those really LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG sleepless nights we had for almost 2 years!!! I remember he'd go to bed around 10:00 - 10:30, wake up around 2:00 and then he would refuse to sleep before the crack of dawn (around 7:00- 7:30) Still trying to catch up with my lost sleep hours ;-P

No way should you try and change it unless you have a problem with it. I still can't believe there are babies who can sleep for so long non-stop. I really envy you and I know I'm not the only one.

If they can sleep for such a long time that means they are really happy and relaxed without anything bothering them, so your babies are really happy babies! Congratulations, mommy!

If you still have any doubts about it you can always ask their doctor about it.

Keep up the good work!

Kids grow when they sleep. They are both probablly going through a growth spurt right now & need all the sleep they can get. Hopefully it will last a long time for ya...unfortunately it may not!! You aren't doing anything wrong!

If they are having no problems going to bed I think that they must need the sleep.  Maybe the LOOK is disbelief and they are just jelious.

As long as your kids are getting enough sleep it's fine. The problem comes when you decide to start them in Preschool or when they start Kindergarten. When my son was 2 he used to wake at 7am on the dot. Then he started to sleep later 8ish and I thought nothing of it. Until he started a preschool that started at 7am. I had to retrain him to wake earlier. Now I just found out that in August he will have to be at Kindergarten at 7:40am so now he'll have to get up at 6:30.

Keep the schedule until you decide to put them in school. It takes about a month to totally retrain. Do they take naps?

I am totally jealous. I wouldn't worry about it. My kids are up sometimes at 5:30 and sleeping in is 6:30. I would LOVE for them to sleep until 9:30. I could shower by myself.

My son sleeps until 9 or 9:30 everyday too.  I know that look you speak of!  I've actually had people scold me about this too.  ha!  And I say let them sleep.  My son is fantastically happy and healthy.  He too got into this routine all by himself.  After explaining to people that we stay up a little later to see Daddy and that he's been sleeping through the night since he was 6 weeks old (yes, he is a dream child) they back off a little.  But the wonderful thing is, no one knows what's best for your kids more than you and your kids! If they are happy, healthy and loved, who cares what the others say! :)

I'd just like to know your trick. My kids wake up between 6.30 and 7 each morning. Even on Saturdays, after I've let them stay up til 10 or 11!

Just some helpful info from a 32 yr mother of 4 kids. Kids need structure even if you are maybe currently not working its good for them to get into good routines about sleeping.  I found that what was helpful was not putting them to bed so early. 8 is a better time to put them to bed and the biologic clock that we are equiped with helps working from there. This is only neccessary on toddlers, for infants they require much more sleep until they stop taking more than two naps a day then you can keep them up later. I hope this helps you. Your friend, Lori                         Quoting Sam:

Enjoy your time with them asleep.  I hate you a little bit since my children don't sleep like that!  But one of my best friends kids totally sleep like that.  And take huge naps!  Read a book, have some sex, take a nap yourself.  But mainly ENJOY!

They are just looking at you because they jealous and only wished their kids would let them sleep that long. They are young and need the extra sleep. Enjoy it while you can. Two out of my three boys are/were late sleepers. I probably just should have said I agree with all the moms below...lol I replied and then read the post. Anyway, enjoy your late mornings, I know I do (well with one that is, so I am half jealous)

I'M JELIOUS!!! LOL, no really though, mine are 5, 4, and 10 months, and they all go to bed 7:30 and get up around 7:30-8am, when they do sleep in (once in awhile) i'm sleeping in!!!! what glorious days those are!! LOL  Really though, there's nothing wrong with them, if one was tired ALL the time then there could be something wrong, but there's nothing wrong with sleeping a little longer, every bodys differant and some just need more sleep then others, like me and my husband, he requires 8 hours, and i need more like 10! lol your little one could just be like me...... just watch out when the teens, that 9am will turn into 3pm lol

I'd say you're just getting the looks because the other moms are jealous. Congrats on your kids sleeping so long. There is a myth in our society that there is such a thing as "too much sleep". Kids, if they are tired, will sleep, I don't think they will sleep "too much".

Children grow while they sleep and if they sleep that long then they obviously need it. those people are just jealous!! trust your instincts they are usually right!

Kids, especially toddlers need lots of sleep.  Every child there age should get as much sleep as yours.  Just give yourself a pat on the back and I hope that it stays that way for a while.  I would not worry about changing their schedule unless you need it to change.  Daycare or school might interfer w/ late sleepers, but at their ages, you shouldn't have to worry about that unless you need to go to work.

Keep it up!  I am so jealous!  Mine are in bed at 7 and usually up at 6:30.  If I could have 9:30 I'd take it in an instant!

Well done you!  I expect that 'look' is jealousy (I know I certainly am!!)  If you wake them they may not be ready for it and then you could have grumpy children as they're still tired.  That can lead to other problems like them not wanting to eat.  I'd say stick with it!

lol, I agree they're probably just jealous.  My 1 year old has been going to bed at 8, sleeping until 11, plus a nap, and I'm enjoying it while it lasts.  I have a 3 year old that keeps me busy so the quiet time and extra sleep is nice.

Does it work for you and your family?  If yes then keep doing what works for you and stop asking if it is OK.  :-P  Every family and child is different.  It may be those families need to get going earlier than you do.  It may be those kids nap more than yours do.  You are their mama and know best what works for your babies/family!!
