She has it semi-bad, we use a&d during the day, then we give her a bath and use destin before bed. It just doesnt seem to be going away though, it makes me so sad to see it. I try an constantly change her the second I know she has a wet or dirty diaper. Should I take her to the doctor?? Help.

try a zinc based bum cream and corn starch on top it has a chemical reaction to help kick the rash away, my 7 yr daughter is wheelchair bound, this seems to work the best

i suggest you take her to the doctor. it may sound extreme, but they can tell if it's more than just diaper rash. my daughter used to get yeast infections...i thought they were just really bad diaper rashes until i learned to tell the difference (with the help of a doc). the treatment is easy (vinegar and water) but it only works on THAT KIND of rash...other things can cause rashes there too...so get it looked at just to be sure...especially if you can't get it to go away with regular cream.

Pls see a homeopath. It will be gone for good. Pls dont use steriods or antibiotics as they only cure for the short term, dont attack the cause. For girls you have to be very careful as it can cause fertility problems if she has yeast infections fm diaper rash.

I agree with the Bourdeaux Butt Paste... but if the rash is breaking open and bleeding take her to the doc NOW. Both of my children did this when they were teething. At first the doc gave us a prescription for a diaper creme, but that made it worse. They ended up putting him on clotrimozole, nystatin and zinc oxide separately. But try to keep your baby as dry as possible, and if its possible let them lay naked for awhile.

Any thing that you can take for the stomach, you can put on their bottom for it. So Dr.Charles Isbell said.

Try Cornstarch Powder, Desitin never worked for my kids, the cornstarch powder kept them dry and rash free!

i have 3 babies and the best thing that i ever used was a combination of putting vaseline on their bum, then sprinkle it with cornstarch...and dont use wet wipes if u can help it, try and use a wet washcloth, or something that is just wet with water...the wet wipes burn on their little hinnies. but the vaseline soothes the rash, and the cornstarch pulls the moisture away from the bum.

Some infant rashes are caused by yeast. They are usually characterized by little red dots. If that's the case she will need a prescription cream to get rid of it.

My daughter is just getting over a diaper rash and it is just about completely gone. What I do is when I change her diaper, I make sure the area with the rash is completely dry and then I put on a heavy amount of Desitin Maximum Strength, it has the highest amount of zinc oxide in a diaper rash cream 40%. It works wonders. You have to make sure the skin is dry before putting cream on it because if it is still wet you are sealing in the wetness by putting cream over it. Main thing keep the skin dry and clean as much as possible.

My son was allergic to zinc oxide so the more diaper rash ointment I used the worse his rash got. I switched to plain vaseline and it cleared right up.

My son has very sensative skin and had a lot of diaper rashes while teething. I tried all the creams..some made it worse. :( The A&D Creamy ointment AND Johnson's baby powder with cornstarch ( use them together) works great!! The bright red rash would be gone by the next day. The A&D Creamy ointment is much more sensative to their little bottoms. We found that using the Cornstarch baby powder worked great as a preventative measure too. Good luck! :)

Go and buy Neosporin, A&d, and Cornstarch (Baking aisle). It absorbs the urine and diarrhea they have so it won't burn their skin. I repeated every change. It works! I have three kids, my first had it so bad the diarrhea burned the skin off his bottom! You can buy off brand, I did. Don't use the baby powder w/ cornstarch use the actual thing. Also, no wet wipes! Just put the baby in the bath tub and wash their bottom everytime. the wet wipes make it worse. Shaunda

whe you give her a bath add regular cornstarch( like the kind you cook with) and let her soak in it while she is taking her bath. This works wonders for my son. Then at night after the cornstarch bath i use a&d. also for during the day i use the johnson & johnson cronstarch( its in the same type of bottle that the baby powder comes in) at every diaper change. Hope this helps

My daughter went through a phase where she got really bad diaper rash. I always let her "air out" for as much as possible throughout the day.

If the diaper rash cream isn't working, it may be a yeast infection. My daughter got these a lot as well. The doctor can prescribe an ointment that will help tremendously. I used to keep this stuff on hand just in case she got a rash that wasn't responding to the diaper rash creams.

I have found that the Aveeno Baby products work great. The diaper rash cream gets rid of it fast. (At least it did for my daughter.) I also use it to prevent her from getting it by using it at night and sometimes during the day. Hope this helps. :-)

Use a cool blowing hairdryer to make sure she is good and dry after bath time, then you ointment (we use Boudreaux's butt paste, works like a charm). Also you may want to take her to the doctor, because it could be a yeast infection, not just diaper rash.

I always omit diaper wipes....using a warm washcloth and a little bath after every gross one.. then let em breath and dry out and air out....I always put vaseline on and ..the vaseline lets the rash heal but wont let anything else touch the skin and irritate it. Also your little one might have very sensitive skin, My son and I both have VERY sensitive skin I have been using Aquaphor by Eucerin for years on myself and now use it on my son, I use it in place of lotions and creams it's a little miracle worker!!

Think about if you changed the brand of wipes, cream, diapers when the rash started because that could be your easiest, fastest remedy. My son was allergic to huggies natural care which is suppose to be hypoallergenic but i used it on him and it was an instarash.....same with luvs diapers. Hope this helps good luck!!

Alot of the times diaper rash can come several sources, teething, sitting in a wet diaper too long or allergy from foods or clothing. My daughter and I have figured out and have used an old time treatment. Gently dab the area with warm no( soap) washcloth. don't rediaper just let the bottom get some air for a short time then use good ole vasoline. My Granddaughter is a happy baby since we started doing that.

aquaphor is an awesome over the counter solution, id say if you dont see any improvement by monday you should probably take her in to get a prescription for nystatin or something similar which always clears my babies rash up.

my daughter from a week old had a horrible diaper rash that turned into horrible blisters because our pediatrician has us keep switching diaper rash cream, when you switch from different kinds of ointment it can irritate the skin even worse, the ER told us that. Ask your pediatrician for an anti-fungal cream and hydrocortozone, we put that on our daughter 3 times a day for two days and the rash and everything was completely gone! Oh and don't use soap on her bottom when you give her a bath and don't use wipes, just rinse her bottom off in a sink or use a towel and her rash should go away within two days. We had to switch doctors because her first one made me so made and kept her sick. But yea take her to your doctor and get some medication for it!

How long has she had it??? My son gets really bad diaper rash anytime he is cutting teeth. Our pediatrician suggested athlete's foot cream (as it could be fungal) i would call the dr., though. My son's turned out not to be fungal and needed a steroid cream that is only available by prescription. It works like a dream. Otherwise, she could have a yeast infection, which i'm not sure which cream to use, but the dr. would. I keep a tube of the steroid cream (which i have the dr. call in to refill anytime i run out) and ONLY when he has a really bad diaper rash, I use that in addition to the ad ointment. Clears it up in a few hours to overnight, then i can just use ad and it keeps it cleared up. good luck i know how sad it can be to see your baby in so much pain. my son winces to have his diaper changed and s.times the pain takes his breath away (fortunately we can control it pretty quickly and it doesn't happen all too often) good luck.

I have a four year old, who had really sensitive skin, and work in a daycare. The first time my son got a diaper rash I put Destin on and he broke out in blisters. A friend suggested Dr. SMITH'S, within two hours his bottom was clear. I recommend it to all the parents that have problems with diaper rashes. It may be a little expensive but is AMAZING!!! Walmart carries it.

I agree with cornstarch! It is a miracle home remedy. If it is getting worse and not getting better in a couple days you should take her to the Drs. It is not uncommon for it to turn into a yeast infection. My son was prone to diaper rashes and often turned to yeast infections within a day. Usually I was told to use a womens yeast cream and apply it like any other ointment. Worked wonders. You can ask your pharmacist what one to use on it.

I found it was best not to put anything on them after the bath. Keep thier bottom as dry as toast. Then the rash should clear up on its own. Also, if you can let her stay out her her diaper for a while after the bath and let it air out a bit that should help too. Good luck.

In my oppinion ... yes. You should take her to the doctor. It may be nothing serious BUT there is a possibility that it could be something else. he/she may be able to prescribe you a topical antibiotic. My son was 3 weeks old and was put on antibiotics to help with RSV and the antibiotics gave him a yeast infection that resulted in a severe rash. The docter then perscribed some topical antibiotic ointment and within two days the rash was completely gone.

ARGO Corn starch....I know this sounds funny but it works better than anything else out there and is the cheapest rememdy I know of. I'm a mother of 4 and trust me it works and feels so good to your baby. Make sure you wipe her completely clean with each changing of her diaper before you apply another application of starch to her.
