my daughter is 12 months old and she loves to eat meat. I've tried to introduce variety of fruits and veggies to her, but she will not take them. the only fruit she will eat is a banana. i've done the finger food with both fruit and veggie, but refuses to eat and try them. she just wants to eat meat. I even try other food too, but she doesn't want them. I've made her grilled cheese, cheese chucks, waffles, etc.(of course these are in small bite sizes finger food) i would like to know what are your ways of introducing new food to your child.

thanks for all the advices, ladies. I will definitely try to "hide/mix" food and search for that cookbook. i do eat in front of her. she gets whatever we eat. it's so funny cuz if she sees me eating it all she wants to do is feed me. i would try to feed her too telling her it's yummy and she can eat with mommy, but she just turns away or spits it out. i hope she grows out of this phase soon...it's driving me banana!

Another good idea for when you are short on time is keeping 'meat substitute' products around. They have everything from breakfast sausage to burgers to hot-dogs, but they are made with veggies, soy, and tofu. Most of the Boca products taste like the real thing, you wouldn't even know they are completely meatless unless you saw the package!

i usually take my childs favorite food (mashed potatoes) and mix it up in there when he eats...he has had all veggies and meats. for fruits i would offer them with his favorite "plain" food such as for him crackers or cookies...bits of bananas, pineapples, grapes, (no skin) and other fruits worked great for me! he is 18 mnths!

They have cookbooks out that teach you how to mix fruits and vegis into foods, such as...Meatloaf you can out shredded carrot(any vegi really) in it and cook it..Mac and cheese you can also mix carrot in(blent if up real fine) or sqaush ect(somthing of similar color).. Make like a fruit/vegi smoothie type mix and freeze in ice cube trays and let her eat /suck them like a desert...Trick her eyes so to say:)

And i have learned with my kids that if they see me try somthing they will most times try it also. somtimes they like and somtimes they dont but i like them to atleast try stuff

Take a look at this recipe book: Deceptively Delicious. It's all about hiding fruits and veggies!

Keep putting then in front of her, eventually she will try something. Also make sure you are eating them yourself.

have you tried getting her involved in the preparing of food? get her interested in what your doing by having her with you when your preparing them, and like Desiree said, eat with her, maybe that could help, if not just leave her to it for a bit, she'll eat them eventualy hun

When my daughter was not able to chew her food all the way, we had a little mesh feeding tool that I would putapple, mango, papaya etc in and she'd munch away on that. I know your baby can chew food now, but maybe you could try to use that to introduce some new things to her? I don't know. Just trying to help! Do you try the food with her? Because I know my 1 year old will eat ANYTHING that I put into my mouth. So maybe if you try the food and eat a piece she'll want some? Good luck.

She sounds like a picky eater! I have three children and babysitt on the side and I believe as long as different foods are offered would be fine give her what she likes her taste buds will change. My kids eat different food every month or so, and it's silly how quick they change their minds about food.
