I am 38 weeks pregnant with my second baby, and need him out ASAP!!! I am in so much pain. My first came at 38 weeks and 1 day. I don't know if that makes a difference or not.. I'm full term now and my doctor says he can come out any time and be perfect..Please help. I have tried everything I can think of, besides caster oil and I do not want to do that.. I tried sex, acupressure, walking, spicy food, all that. So if you tried anything that worked that isnt all over the internet, please tell me what it was!!! Thanks! :D

raspberry leaf tea!!!! i swear by it now.. go to any health food store because it has to be rapberry leaf not artificial stuff.. i had been trying everything sex, spicy food, long long long walks, and heavy lifting...nothing worked i tried that from 36 1/2 weeks till 39 because i was in so much pain. at week 39 my friend gave me the tea and as soon as i finished the cup my contractions became regular and strong enough to go to the hospital (where i found myself getting sent home ten times before this time haha...) they kept me this time thank goodness and a few hours later i gave birth to my sencond baby! :) good luck to you.

(after i had tried everything else mind you) it did work! fri lunch time i took it and late fri night i was in labour! although i my baby was born naturally and healthy. there was mecconium and i cant help but think it was the castor oil... Its something i wont do again even though it did work, also i think he was prob ready anyway and it just tipped the scales! good luck

Having an orgasm makes your uterus contract and sperm softens the cervix....So you may need to borrow your husband lol. Good Luck.

This may have been a coincidence, but the night before I had my daughter I ate mac'n'cheese with A1 sauce. I had heard that some people use it to induce labor but honestly, once i heard about it i couldnt stop craving it, so my husband went out at 1am and bought me a steak and some mac'n'cheese. I put a ton of A1 in the pasta and less than 24 hours later was in labor. Again, that could be total coincidence because it was about 3 days before i hit 40 weeks; she may have just been ready to come out anyway. lol. I also distinctly remember saying that night that i gave up and it looked like she wasnt going to be here anytime soon. lol. go figure.

laughing and bouncing... sorry about your pain!

oh! and heavy lifting...I was carrying around my 2-year-old a few hours before I went into labour with my second. My husband's mother went into premature labour after helping to move her sofa.

Yeah caster oil is not something I want to try, I HATE feeling sick and having nausia.. My mom took caster oil when she was pregnant with me and nothing happened, so I'd rather not do that lol

Castor oil is really dangerous and doesn't always work. It can seriously dehydrate you, cause severe muscle cramping and abdominal pain, and can cause severe fatigue making the pushing phase of labor (if you're lucky enough to get there) just about impossible. There also MAY be a link to castor oil induced labors and baby passing meconium in the uterus (NOT a good thing). No definitive studies have been done on the effects of castor oil on mother or baby but it's one of those things I would never consider trying or encouraging other women to try. Having the runs for hours on end only to end up in labor DOES NOT sound like fun to me.

I am so sorry. I remember asking everyone the same question. My daugther was almost 9 lbs and came 6 days late. I tried everything but she was on her own timetable. Trust me - enjoy the peace and quiet while you still have it. I have not seen a movie from start to finish on the DVD in over a year :)

Be patient. It will come at the perfect time for the baby, not you. Keep getting plenty of exercise, and all the other things you have done. My third child was 2 weeks late and I was huge and uncomfortable, but she was healthy and perfect (weighed 9 lb. 5 oz.). Good luck and God bless!

Nature will take its course when it is ready. Every pregnancy is different and every baby is born when it is ready. Technically you could go 2 wks overdue before a lot of OB's will usually do anything to rush labor. I had my membranes stripped at 2 days overdue and it did nothing still had to be induced at 4 days overdue.

Genuine raspberry leaf tea (not from supermarkets) buy the leaf tea and drink it by the bucket load, labour reduced and more productive. Went into labour at midday, third child born at 10pm, easy compared to the others

I had my twins at 33 weeks and would have gladly stayed pregnant until my due date to help them, but the doctors could not slow down my labor any more than what they had already done. Here is my story in a nut shell. I went into labor when I was almost 29 weeks and the doctors had to slow down my contractions, but they could not stop them. I stayed in the hospital until I delivered for over a month on bed rest having contraction every 9 minutes. It is amazing what you can get used to and learn to sleep through! I know that you are further along than I was, but you can hang in there. Once you have the baby, everything you went through will start to become a distant memory. Don't forget the pain you go through after delivery as well as all the work that comes with a new born, you could very likely be suffering from sleep deprivation and in pain from lugging around a baby in a car seat while carrying a diaper bag and purse all day as well. Hang in there and best of luck. I hope it is and easy delivery for you, especially since the pregnancy is so rough on you.

Why are you in pain? What does your doctor say? If you are fully effaced and dilated even slightly, the doctor could probably induce you, but if you wait a week or two you might have a nice smooth, short labor. Good luck.

All those things you see online are pretty much myths! walking will work to an extent and i'm not sure about the sex thing (i've heard doctors say it works and others say it doesn't work!) all you can do is wait for baby to come when baby is ready! i'm due this sat and i don't think my baby has any plans to come out before then but i'm not worried! as for the pain use a heating pad or take some tylenol. if its really bad call your doctor and ask them is there is anything you can do/take for the pain!

Plan a dinner out. Make a reservation and everything, and even invite another couple. Either Murphy's Law will go into effect and you'll go into labour an hour before you're supposed to leave for dinner, or it won't, and you'll at least have a nice dinner out to distract you.

Seriously, though -- the baby will come when it's ready. The walking definitely won't hurt, but it'll really only work if you're already 99.99999% ready to go into labour anyway.

My friend had a baby natural in a pool with a midwife and she took castor oil and it worked..with all 3 of her kids.....he midwife is the one who told her to drink it so its safe....if your desperate it very well may work...or just wait and it will happen sooner than you know :)

sweeping the membranes and stretching the cervix isn't actually proven to work, pure fluke you went into labour 10 minutes later

Honestly I have tried many things, including castor oil (yess, i know. it was stupid!) and my son was still a week late!!! Nothing worked for me either, so I have come to the conclusion that they are just gonna come when they are good & ready! Good luck!

3 out of my 4 children came about 2wks overdue, the one that didn't only did it to spite her father as he was interstate when she was born! I know it's difficult when you are so big and you are dying to meet your little one, tyr to be patient, use this time to treat yourself as this will be the last time for awhile that you will be able to put your needs first! have a massage, go for swim, have a bath, organise to meet with some friends to try and take your mind off baby for abit. Stay calm you will meet your special little one soon enough! trust me they are way easier to look after while they are in your body! xxx

@Katie...I was 3 days late when i had my membranes stripped and nothing...even though the doctor was very sure i'd go into labor within 24 hours

rasberry leaf tea worked for me but my opion a baby should come when its ready i would never try before 40 weeks, just think of the mothers who have their children early n then there poorly do they wish they could of waited but it was took away from them. you need to think of the baby he or she is safe and happy where he or she is. the baby will sure let you know when there ready to make it in to the world. if u go past ur due date then sure try everything becasue the baby is ready there in growth n maturity.

I took castor oil one week before I went into labor and it didn't work. The next week I had my doctor appointment and I had the doctor strip my membranes. It is where they pull the amniotic sac away from the cervix. It doesn't hurt the baby it just causes your body to release oxytocin which in turn causes you to go into labor. I was 38 weeks and 2 days when I had this done, and my water broke 11 hours later! It was very uncomfortable and it only works if your body is ready to have your baby. I guess it all just depends on how bad you want that baby out! Good luck with the new baby :)

Why do you need the baby to be out? He/she is exactly where he/she needs to be and rushing that process could be dangerous for your baby. Hang in there, most mothers have made it to about 40 weeks and survived the wait.

maybe you feel like its not working, but it might still have done enough to get things going. i remember at 39 weeks i did all that too coz i felt like i was way too huge and needed to get it out. anyway, it did speed up the process, and 5 days later i had my baby girl :)

[deleted account]

baby comes when baby is ready. my 9 pounder came out 8 days late...and baby coming late is incredibly normal for your first child. and in fact only 5% of babies come on their due date. walking does work just don't push yourself, and i wouldn't worried you're not term yet. use heat packs if you're in pain, and just be thankful you weren't like me and ordered bed rest from 30 weeks on wards which lead to you having a painful back labor

It honestly sounds like your baby just isn't ready to come out. I would have recommended walking to you cause hat help speed up my labor but you said it didn't work for you. You can ask your doctor to induce you if you are in severe pain. Hang in.
